  1. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Dec 27, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) Anyone have a link to this pic?????????? Is this it?
  2. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051227/ap_on_...a_story_of_year Great news...and some really nice quotes from Jerry. SFF
  3. I can't believe Boras holds the cards in this; if anyone does, its Joe. Boras works for Crede, not the other way around. Anyway, I don't want to lose Crede, even for this payoff. Crede can save a WS game with the glove or win a it with the bat. The WS is the level the Sox are at now. What matters is how they can deliver while on that stage. Joe can do it, how do we know Blalock or Wilkerson can? To put it bluntly: Blalock may be able to get a team to the World Series; but we know Crede can win it. SFF
  4. No! Do not but Bmac in the pen! I don't want to see him get "Cotts'ed" (put in the pen "temporarily" but end up relieving so well he will never sniff the rotation again). SFF
  5. Hey, I just emailed the season ticket office to hopefully get some specifics on the cost of the "Ozzie Plan" season tickets. Since I need the info quick, I was just hoping someone here could provide some more specifics while I wait for the Sox to reply. Basically, we are looking for a gift for our boss and this might just be affordable. Anyway, chisox.com says they sell for as low as $134 depending on the seat and date. Does anyone have an idea on exactly how the pricing structure would break down? I would assume our boss (living in Springfield) would need primarily weekend games, although he would be satisfied with the nosebleed seats. Thanks for any insight! SFF
  6. I could go three ways. Konerko simply because he chose to come back for the fans, city, and kids. Buehrle because he is flat out in love with the team and fans. Crede because of how he stepped up at the plate, in the field, and between the ears. Oh crap, make it four: AJ for being the shepherd of this team when the pressure was on. I think if I get a jersey with a name on the back, I will just use a "name" that struck me this winter: "THOMERKO" SFF
  7. It was a good video, and I can't complain too much about it. They did focus a little too much on the crosstown series, although there were some good jabs at the northsiders. I was disappointed they didn't feature Jenks until the playoff highlights, and didn't feature McCarthy at all. The event was nice too. The audience was appropriately rowdy, even going so far as shouting for the emcee to remove his cubbie-blue colored tie. Also, I could almost smell the estrogen in the crowd when the Podsednik snippets were shown. Even "light up guy" (the dude with the neon light tube outfit) was there and my daughter loved that, lol. Certainly worth the 200 mile drive. SFF
  8. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) I'm going with my brother and sister, but I'm not planning on dressing up...unless there is a dress code that I don't know about. Their website might fill you in: Arie Crown Theater Thanks for the quick reply, Kev. That sounds great to me. Hope you enjoy the event! SFF
  9. My mom got my wife, daughter and me a ticket to attend this event. I was just wondering if anyone else is going so I can know what to expect. I have never been to the threatre before, but they are marketing it as a "red carpet" event. Therefore, I was really wondering if it is a casual attire type of thing or if it is something that people might be dressing up a bit for. Can anyone clue me in? Thx, SFF
  10. Isn't it ironic - we are spending the offseason speculating on whether Big Frank will be reporting to spring training... SFF
  11. Wow. I wish I had tickets to Soxfest this year. Its gonna be more ecstatic than a pool party a swingers convention in Vegas. THOMERKO - YES!!! SFF
  12. I have been listening to ESPN radio this morning and at the 11:00 hour they first said the White Sox had entered the bidding and that KW was confident they could retain him. Just letting you know FWIW SFF
  13. The White Sox are now in a new category: an October team. The goal is not merely making the playoffs; it is reaching the WS and repeating. That said, personnel moves should focus on getting the final ingredients that can win the Series. I was at game 2. Konerko is an "ingredient". When you look at all his stats, he might not be worth the cost for most teams because they might well not get a team to the playoffs if they wouldn't make it otherwise. However, once in the playoffs (as the Sox now expect to do), Paulie becomes that almost priceless final piece that can deliver a championship. Other players (or groups thereof) may yield better stats over a season, but how many can do what Konerko did on the biggest stage? Last year Vlad couldn't, A-Rod couldn't, Manny couldn't, Andrew couldn't... SFF
  14. QUOTE(BDavisFutureHOF @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) Dont get me wrong -- he just doesnt seem to fit into our championship style of play in my mind. I thought that we were building around pitching and defense -- which we gave up an assload of in this trade. Don't get me wrong, either. I like the trade but it is a good point. Last winter we gave up power for a grinder and won the WS. Now we just gave up a grinder for power. Oh well, I trust KW. SFF
  15. He is a old fashioned let 'er rip, don't get cheated, old school slugger. The Sox haven't had one of them since, uhh, well since um... SFF

  17. I may be all wrong, but I think I might have gotten to see the plane first. Just now I went out to scan the skies and saw one single jet very high and heading northwest. Downstate you don't see nearly as many planes in the sky so perhaps, just perhaps... the one I saw was it. I know its silly but hey, I'm giddy SFF
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 02:03 AM) By the way...what a wonderful way to say goodbye to Rooney. Yeah, I love his voice, his expertise, and his passion. For a team always overlooked by everyone, the sound of him announcing always seemed give the Sox "legitimacy". I always dreamed and hoped I would get to hear him call the championship, and now I did. I will really miss him but after the championship, and after being recognized as part of the best announcing team in the league - perhaps there is no better time to leave. Thanks, John SFF
  19. Yes, insofar as my eyes welled up. It has happened a few times during this series. It is happening a little bit now as I type. SFF
  20. So when is the arrival, noon or 3pm? Also, this sounds kinda dumb but I would really also like to know when deparature from Texas is because I want to go outside and look up around the time the plane(s) are over Springfield. Anyone? SFF
  21. How many desperate housewives are watching? SFF
  22. Most of you all could care less what Gammons says but on the B&B show this afternoon he gave major props to the Sox - for 2005 and historically. He agreed they have to be considered among the elite teams of recent history along with Oakland, NYY, and I can't recall who else. He also said the doesn't agree with people complaining about teams getting overlooked, but said in the case of the White Sox, it was true. He went on to admit the Indians and AL Central were mistakenly overlooked this year. SFF
  23. I just had a bad thought. Do you think maybe the Sox and/or Chicago will nix the idea of a parade simply for security reasons (i.e. the ever present threat of terrorism)? Security was awfully tight at the Cell so I am sure it is a high priority for any celebration. If they had a "contained" rally it would be easier to keep a security net around it. Not that I don't want a parade - I'm just saying... SFF
  24. There will always be bandwagon fans to deal with. They might as well be on our side. SFF
  25. I wish I lived in Chicago to greet them on their return if they win in Houston. I assume the plane will fly over Springfield and I will try to find out the flight times. Of course I won't be seen, but when it flies over, I will look up, smile, and wave. I will bring my 3 year old daughter out and say, "Way up in that plane up there are our White Sox. They just won the World Series". SFF
