  1. I will be there also! My wife spent waaaay too much time and money on ebay and finally got one. I never, ever imagined I would be going to a World Series game. Hell, I never imagined the Sox would I will have Sox flags and stickers on my car the whole trip up I-55! SFF
  2. Fantastic! Love the Astro-dog reference SFF
  3. I gotta say it, that is classy. Maybe I can feel that way because down here Cub fans don't care enough about the Sox for there really even be a rivalry. SFF
  4. If they lose the series it will seriously suck -I cannot deny that - but a "failure"? I don't think so. At the end of the game when I heard the Fox announcer (Buck?) say "and the White Sox have won the pennant" it was a feeling nothing short of a fantasy come true. "Won the pennant" are magical words and they will stick with me forever. That said, how will I regard the season historically if they do end up losing? Well, I need just look at the one other example: the 1959 Sox. To me they are not "losers". They are the most recent champions, and the standard by which all subsequent Sox teams are measured. To me the long drought of Sox futility goes back, not to 1917, but to 1959. 1959 was the last Sox championship, not 1917. And so it will be with 2005 if the Sox don't beat Houston. SFF
  5. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 21, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) Does anybody have good sized scans of the 1906, 1917, and 1959 teams pictures? I have pictures of them, but all of them are too small. I have the White Sox Encyclopedia at home. I don't know if it has team pictures but if it does I can scan them and provide them tomorrow. SFF
  6. QUOTE(Bighurt52235 @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) I have made that picture my defaul on myspace, if that's alright. No problem, be my guest. Squeeze the Stros! SFF
  7. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) Yeah, can you post the larger version of that, if there is one? EDIT: your avatar Sure, here you go. I made it myself so use it as you wish SFF
  8. Crede really is class when he starts his homerun trot, but it took me a while to get used to it. A couple of times I thought he put his head down because he was upset at just missing one, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it was a goner. SFF
  9. Fantastic. There is something about the attitude on this team that is really starting to remind me of the '85 Bears. These guys are awesome! SFF
  10. Touching, I choked up myself reading that. As an out of towner, I almost feel guilty having one of the few available tickets - almost SFF
  11. The last time the Sox faced Clemons, didn't they totally crush him - like 10 runs in three innings or something like that? SFF
  12. I am not a devoted fan of her site, and have never posted on it - but I do get a good laugh out of it from time to time. In the Oct. 14 entry, she brings up the Vikings sex party and shows they aren't the only ones - posting a photoshopped hot tub with the smiling heads of all the Twins players popping out and Kris Benson (who the Twins wanted to acquire) standing outside looking in. Hi - lar - ious !!! SFF
  13. I guess you could salute the last Sox team to win 99 games. Tony LaRussa might be available to do it. SFF
  14. I just wondered what our favorite out of town sweetheart had to say and I must say I am impressed... SFF
  15. I would rather have Houston for a few reasons. First, if St. Louis wins, that means they enter the Series with three straight wins and a lot of momentum. Also, being in last year's series, they already have experience with the pressure and pagentry. They will get right down to the business of erasing the bitter taste last years series left. Finally, here in Springfield, the media would approach it from the Cardinal fan's point of view, whereas if Houston is involved, the Sox will be the media preference. Gimme Houston SFF
  16. Span the generations: Minnie Minoso and Brandon McCarthy
  17. My wife tried to go online to get tix for me and even looked on ebay for kicks. Ebay had folks selling up to 18 at a time (way over the max allowed?) and for thousands of dollars per game. We figured it was illegal scalping of course and she complained to ebay. Ebay explained something to the effect that it wasn't restricted in Illinois and so they could not squelch the bids. WTF?
  18. I think the Sox very well can become THE Chicago team. However, I don't think a championship will be what does it, and it won't be Ozzie, Paulie, or a 300 win career from Brandon McCarthy. The force behind it will be Sox ownership/marketing and Brooks Boyer in particular. The change has been happening for at least a few years now. They aren't catering specifically to the fans of today, but they are laying claim to the next generation right now. Fundamentals, Southpaw, kids days, family atmosphere, charities, and even Brooks' generosity to parents of newborns (potential lifeling Sox fans) is building the foundation. It is a good thing, a very good thing... SFF
  19. the bullpen just isn't meant to be this series
