  1. Honestly, until ownership changes any personnel decisions are just deck chairs. I don't see any point in laying hope on that from a fan's perspective. And frankly, whenever Getz *does* attempt to retool its akin to Tim Conway as the dentist. Whatever it is, just do some promotions or something to make the stadium experience somewhat entertaining while we endure what's happening on the field.
  2. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 15, 2008 -> 01:42 PM) One of the changes Coop made was during the pivot Floyd would wrap his hands behind he head as he rocked towards home plate. His hands now stay lower, and keep his balance set and his center moving towards the plate. This also allows for a pitcher to keep his eye on the target longer, picking up the catchers mitt earlier in the motion. Its a simple, yet very effective way of tweaking his mechanics a bit to help him throw a strike. I was looking at his motion last night, and his delivery reminded me of....Keith Foulke. I don't know if that should inspire much confidence or not, but it is a short compact arm motion - kind of like a pinball plunger. I would imagine it is has to be harder for a hitter to pick up. As long as it is safe mechanically I am alright with it. SFF
  3. No access to tv here - did he K him with a nasty hook or was it gas?
  4. I agree that you gotta stick with Javy for all the reasons mentioned, but I have one simple, honest question: Will BMac ever be a starter? SFF
  5. This is actually a serious idea I have had. There are arguments against DH's and pitchers who hit. I say remove both. Just have an eight man lineup for each league. I think it is the only way to get a consensus on the issue. SFF
  6. Is anyone else fed up with the programming on the Score any more? Being in Springfield, that is the only Chicago station I can receive and I rely on it for talk and news about my Sox - especially now. Well, I am really frustrated with it because: 1) Half the friggin airtime is commercials. I will hear ten minutes of talk, then they have at least half a dozen commercials, then they will announce the station call letters and I think they will get back to the show. But no, it is yet more commercials. Even Mike North said he thought there were going to the "well" a little too often. 2) Cubs! I can understand this somewhat since there are more Cub fans then Sox fans (I am talking about quantity not quality!). Still, whenever there is a baseball call-in, 80% of it is Cubs discussion. I know, if I want Sox talk, I should call. Well, that will get the Cubs share down to 79%... All I ask is a station that is a haven for my team and my team alone. I wish the Sox had their own "KMOX" where it is all Sox all the time. I hate sharing! 3) Da Bears. Yes, I am a Bears fan, BUT ITS FREAKING AUGUST! I tune in on my way to and from work, and ever since training camp started, I haven't heard anything but Bear talk. I mean, the Sox are in the middle of a sacred season heading straight to the playoffs, and yet its apparently more important to hear about the consistency of Mike Brown's morning s*** log in training camp. I know, it is Bears first in Chicago, and I have to live with that. But I still don't like it Okay my rant is over. SFF
  7. Wow, upon starting this thread, I thought it would be flamed and put to an early grave. I appreciate the serious discussion on it. FWIW the only reason I brought it up was because of possible home field playoff implications. I can live with playing Oakland; I would just rather play against them in Chicago. Now, as has been mentioned, if Oakland has the best record, they have home field advanatage for the first series, which wouldn't be against the Sox. However, if both clubs advanced to the ALCS, would the team with the best record also have home field for that series? I think that much is a valid concern. LT
