  1. Here you go * Skip Schumaker is a strong candidate with recent managerial experience and potential availability. * A.J. Pierzynski is a familiar face with a strong personality who could bring excitement. * Sergio Santos is a rising star in the coaching ranks with early success. Other potential candidates include John Gibbons and Chris Fetter. Ultimately, the best choice depends on the White Sox's priorities and vision for the future.
  2. Statistical regression. You can't be the absolute worst team in the history of the game and repeat. Even the Sox can't pull that off.
  3. Improve? Sure. I see them winning at least 40 next year.
  4. We're really just cheering for the uniform at this point. Who cares who is wearing it?
  5. I want a computer. Let's skip all this human baseball b.s. and find a programmer who will just use modern data. I'd prefer a PC/Android combination but Apple products might be a better fit for the players and the videos won't be fucked up when they are shared.
  6. Being out of the game for years is generally a criteria. Either being passed over or not actively looking to be a manager, is something JR values. Toss in JR lamenting that "letting him leave was my second biggest mistake" would be icing on the turd.
  7. Bobby Cox, another HoF manager is available.
  8. Play bad, get moved. It started with a manager who managed bad until they released him.
  9. Greg, are you calling yourself a cynic? I'm digging the third person reference to what I still believe is your puppet.
  10. I'm equally worried about the future.
  11. I wish more people really understood how un-American police action like this is and how bad it is for our country.
  12. I'm glad to see they aren't rushing him into the lineup. I hate to laugh at someone's career drying up but how can you take this organization seriously?
  13. Agreed, they will need a good manager in three to get them to five.
  14. I'm glad the team worked with him to find a situation where he has a better chance for success. I was reading this is the first #1 overall pick to win his debut game at QB since 2002. I think that highlights that instant success isn't really a thing in the NFL.
  15. It seemed like last season we were snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, it's nice to see them win one they should have lost.
  16. We know #1 is true, why not both?
  17. The next guy will also be a placeholder who will have to buy into whatever player development scheme the organization is pushing. Here's a guy that JR might want to take a look at -- Bobby Cox. JR seems to like bringing back Hall of Fame managers LOL He's probably 80 years old by now. They could swap stories about the days before electricity and night games.
  18. Terrance Mann in Field of Dreams. Talk about overcoming adversity in your life and becoming a true success.
  19. Phillies had a truly craptastic stretch from 1938 to 1942 1938 - 45 wins 1939 - 45 wins 1940 - 50 wins 1941 - 43 wins 1942 - 42 wins Could JR be setting his sights on something beyond anything we've seen?
  20. I'm guessing anyone with a pulse and who is healthy*enough* will be a front runner at each position.
  21. If Money Ball taught me anything clinging to any past assumptions will cause you to miss out on opportunities and you'll never be the innovation leader. But he'll never be a good choice as an everyday corner outfielder.
  22. I know we all wanted to keep him and build a pen around him. We would have agreed if Getz and Pedro said he was so close to being lights out and he just needed a little more time. I'm outraged that with teams lined up offering a king's ransom for his services that Getz took the lowest offer.
  23. The next guy will only be around for two years (Doug Collins type) then we need to be attractive enough for a (Phil Jackson) type.
  24. I agree. Especially on a state or county level.
