  1. Makes me think Katz isn't as good as we thought. The Sox passed on him once so far. His career is close to over. If he's still with the team after the next manager is hired he might as well go back to high school.
  2. Which is why Katz will never manage in MLB. The Sox passed on him.
  3. So true. It's clearly a good spot for a manager to be in. I believe your 85% is the current MLB team problems. This probably does little too address the lack of "home grown" drafting and development in our MiLB system. From a franchise perspective that may be half of the problem still remaining.
  4. White Sox hired Tony twice, he must be a great manager for someone. Lol
  5. Not exactly the exciting name that was going to revive my love of the franchise. Another day, another decade. At least this solidifies that MLB playing experience isn't necessary. Katz's path to an eventual managerial position looks better.
  6. He probably doesn't interview well and that's critical to getting any job. The in house pass over doesn't concern me as much. "we need outside blood" is a consistent fan wish especially when teams aren't as successful as fans want them to be. I'm trying to remember the last time fans here pushed for a candidate from within.

    2022 Catch All

Some a-hole stole the wheel well liners from my truck. The front are factory, the rear ones cost me a couple hundred bucks. Pisses me off.
  8. Like I said it's a strong assumption, one I wouldn't disagree with, but I wouldn't label it as fact. The fact is we don't know. Maybe they said "hey here are the two we think are excellent candidates, Tony and Hinch. We can't decide so JR you pick". Maybe they screamed and yelled and threw things at JR. I don't know, I wasn't there. Another possibility is someone in the PR department worked on a mock up of press release weeks before and used an actual candidate's name, not a made up name like would be common. Later they didn't do a good job of proof reading. Perhaps it was wishful thinking by a low level staffer. Perhaps it was Kenny directing it. The fact is we may never know.
  9. Except no one who actually was part of the process has commented publically. It very well may be accurate. But labeling it fact with so much certainly is more than I would do. The only comment was all from JR.
  10. I wish I had that kind of information, something only someone in the meetings would know.

    Student Loan Debt

I thought people who bought a Tesla received a tax credit. Basically a company can charge more for their product if their customers are getting a little elsewhere.

    2022 Catch All

Did someone here recommend Time Enough for Love? A hold I had at my library finally came through and I rarely read SciFi I can't imagine why I ordered it.
  13. "Letting Tony retire was the second or third biggest mistake of my career, we've all lost track. He's back!" JR after the World Series.
  14. Didn't we say Tony was away from managing too long? Why make the same mistake again?

    Student Loan Debt

It's also an investment of course. Thank you for pointing it out.
  16. I just keep checking this thread to make sure it wasn't a dream.

    Student Loan Debt

I know one thing. You give money to people that already have a debt free existence without worrying about their subsidence and they may spend it or they may save it. It may move to the middle and lower incomes. Give money to the middle and lower incomes and it will get spent quickly and head up to the upper income folks. So let's allow the 95% to touch it for a moment.

    Student Loan Debt

My hunch is many people will swap that debt for other debt. House. Car. More education. Financed furniture. Vacations. Home repairs. Life. But some will invest. Save. I know one family that is moving that money to their kid's education fund so he won't have the same issues they had. I really liked hearing that. Using the solution to avoid the same problem later. I was chatting with a couple who is inclined to be anti relief. I pointed out it was less than the government incentives that were given to them to buy two EVs from "the most successful car maker in history". They {quietly} drove off. Everyone loves to receive.
  19. There was a long closed bar up near the chain that back in the 80s had a Sunday cribbage tournament. I was the only player under 60. I lost my ass most times but the other guys were hilarious.
  20. That's exactly how I perceived the clubhouse. Tony allowed these guys to do their own thing and trusted them to be ready and Tony was very wrong. I think we learned that modern players need a little in your face energy from a manager.
  21. I just want to not think about baseball. Tough when I see a constant barrage of gear. I feel like Robert Neville.* *Token obscure literary reference.
  22. Now matter who they add it will still be the same sorry franchise. I wish a manager would really make a difference. It's just dressing up a pig. Franchises just seem to stay the same. Who was the last MLB owner that really made a difference versus how many ownership changes just didn't make any difference?
  23. I don't think the locker room was toxic. He just let the guys be guys. It didn't seem like he did anything. The fans were toxic but the players all seemed to get along fine.
