  1. 702 in his final regular season game. Made Cardinal fans love the DH. See you in the HoF.
  2. The average MLB salary should be around $9 million per player. Five million for a ten year veteran should be the norm.

    Homecoming Dances

The girl was chastised by the boys mom for not showing enough enthusiasm. She had no clue he would ask. It's their first date. Now homecoming mums. It's a Texas thing. It's crazy. They start out almost like a corsage. Then https://totallythebomb.com/in-texas-mums-the-word
  4. I disagree. Five million should be a utility player salary. Remember the lock out and the negotiations? We don't want owners to make any money. Unless the minimum player salary is in the multi millions owners will get richer.
  5. And people are disappointed they didn't win the division. They should have known this team couldn't win.
  6. Among other Sox items accumulated through the years is my hitch cover. I took it off for my summer trip, expecting to put it back on when I returned in a couple months. Yeah, it's still sitting in my under seat storage. So far no student has remembered me wearing a Sox jersey to school for opening day (cool school tradition). This weekend the only large tumbler that wasn't in the dishwasher was a Sox Tervis model. I washed a yeti by hand instead of seeing the logo. I'm very stealthy now. I've hid any reminders. I'm going to sneak in the Astros and Cardinals bandwagons because of friends I see every day.
  7. When Tony was hired many people thought his hard ass style wouldn't work with today's players who expected to be treated as adults in a more collaborative environment. The predictions were he wouldn't put up with the antics of modern players. Seems he allowed them to "do their thing" a little too much. So this was a surprise.
  8. f*** JR and his partners. Every player deserves more money. Has everyone forgot the battle the past off season?

    Homecoming Dances

Prom-posals have spread to homecoming. Sigh. One of my freshman on the golf team appeared at another teammate's house with an enterage while holding a sign . . . " Birdies are fun but homecoming with you would be a hole in one". I'm hoping they continue to date throughout high school. I love the soap opera dramas involved.
  10. Nope. April 5th in the prediction thread I said fans would be debating which was a bigger disappointment the '69 Cubs or '22 Sox. I predicted third place. I was driving the fire Hahn train before it was cool.
  11. I have a young varsity team, half are freshman. Tonight my top three boys shot 36, 38, and 39. I'm still trying to figure out whose going to be in the next two spots. I temporarily put in the hardest working two out of about six that had a chance. They happened to be freshman. The girls varsity starts next week with a 54 hole event. I have two of the best in the city. A sophomore and a freshman. I'll be busy until May.
  12. And we dislike team profits. Every player should get raises or else JR and the rest of the owners get richer.
  13. Just once I'd like to have a front office put together a roster that most everyone believes could win the division. I have no faith in Hahn and Kenny pulling that off.
  14. Again, I agree with your view of parenting. Here's what you said If you don't understand why projecting your religious beliefs on a sports team, in 2022, is a fucking ridiculous and idiotic thing, especially given how culturally diverse sports are, maybe you need to enter the 21st century? You specified "projecting your religious beliefs" leaving open projecting your non religious beliefs. I just questioned why you allow some beliefs but not others. I don't believe a person has to be an evangelical to support diversity. I'm just a liberal minded individual open to allowing all views to be represented. I assume evangelicals have the same need to share their beliefs that you do. Nice conversation. Thank you.
  15. If you *believe* two parents are better, or marriage before children, that's a belief. If you believe parents don't have to be married that's not a belief? I believe that non religious people can have beliefs. They may believe that murder is bad or you shouldn't steal. be·lieve /bəˈlēv/ verb 1. accept (something) as true; feel sure of the truth of. "the superintendent believed Lancaster's story" Similar: be convinced by trust have confidence in take as gospel So when a religious and an agnostic person are sharing their beliefs when should the religious person shut up and just allow the angnostic person to speak? That's my main point. You are trying to respect diversity by just allowing similarity and silencing the actual diversity you seem to be trying to protect. I actually agree with your opinion on wedlock and kids. The difference is I don't mind sharing the opposite belief. The respectful exchange of beliefs is a positive way to bridge differences through respecting those differences not marginalization and suppression.
  16. Hmm. Seven year itch? More likely a NL team would come here.
  17. Then the team can finally move to Vegas or San Antonio. When is that stadium contract up?
  18. That's your belief. Should you leave it at home or share it here? If your belief is shared by millions of other people does it make it less valid?
  19. I'm not certain you have to be religious to believe that porn or casually having children is a bad thing. Looking at statistics kids do better with two parents no matter the wealth. So we'll respect cultural similarity but not diversity? You say diverse then shut down something based on Muslim faith? I'm not certain that respects the diversity. I'm also going to agree that the workplace may not be the best place for that dialogue.
  20. I've wanted him fired since last winter. I've never liked this roster's chances. But I thought I was wrong when so many people predicted them to win.
  21. And I'm just looking at a poorly constructed roster that needs major retooling.
  22. I want to hear injuries destroyed this season, here's what we're doing about it.
  23. Now imagine JR holding a press conference and saying we are hiring Francona and keeping the roster the same. We'll make the playoffs no doubt at all. With too many bench players either incompetent or with overlapping skills. A questionable at best right side defense. I think there needs to be several roster moves before any manager has a no doubt at all shot. That doesn't mean I think Tony and Hahn shouldn't be replaced. I think Hahn's roster was a second place roster further mismanaged by Tony.
  24. That's the circle argument. Everyone it seemed liked the Sox chances. So isn't that a vote for Hahn? It seems like we have - Fire Tony because he took a roster that should have won the division easily and mismanaged it. (Plus a ton of other stuff). Fire Hahn because he put together a crappy roster that couldn't compete. Even though 80% of the fans here, Vegas, and a fuckton of analysts thought they would. I agree that Francona (actually almost anyone) would be a great upgrade.
