  1. I get new and nicer but I'll be a little sad when the team moves. Although what happens to the Soldier Field site could change my feelings.
  2. I believe there is a parenting subreddit y'all could argue these points. Let's get this back to the crap baseball player he was and how everyone in the organization who thought bringing him back was a good idea should be fired.
  3. I'm a general, universal, every franchise in baseball conversation. How bad of a mess does a GM have to inherit until he deserves a couple seasons to fix it?
  4. We just need a could guys to come back from injuries plus starter that can play an entire season. That will get us to 50 wins.
  5. I think it is really what rules and where is he drawing lines. Ignoring a coach sexually abusing players to win? I think we're all against that. Hiring a player who has legal troubles and questionable moral practices to win? Some will say yes, a lot of fans will say no. Not signing pitchers to long contracts and things start to get more against him with fans. We used to think he would never pay two managers or fire one mid season. At one point many fans thought locking TA into a 12 years contract was the smart thing to do. But his cheap ass wouldn't. While I'm not convinced a new owner, after financing what will be a billion dollar plus acquisition of the Sox, would also double the payroll, I'd really like to find out.
  6. Washed up and never were players with MLB experience or rushing players to the MLB roster. What a glorious team we've become.
  7. Even if he did want to be here he needs to be swapped for multiple players. If a middle of the road franchise somewhere offered you $4,000,000 a year as a free agent how much more would it take to get you to come to the Sox? That's what Getz has to deal with.
  8. So which option are you going with? 1- follow another team 2- give up baseball 3- keep following the team while expecting a decade of 1,000 losses?
  9. It's really tough to break your own record, but with the right manager it's certainly possible.
  10. Would the expansion fee be greater for Chicago or Nashville? Move the Sox to Nashville and let the bidding begin for a Chicago franchise. Added bonus the expansion team in Chicago would make the playoffs sooner.
  11. Agreed. So what rule should MLB put in place to fix it?
  12. I didn't think it's a small group that's unhappy with Getz for a couple of reasons that go beyond Getz himself and not his fault. It's just so difficult to be positive about anything with this team. Symbolically Getz embodies almost everything wrong with the franchise. Maybe not him personally, but he's another uninspired hiring from an uninspiring franchise. Looking for objective evidence of what he's done I find some hope in the fact that outsiders and other experts look at our minor league system and see major improvements. He's got an opportunity to make his mark with the hiring of the next manager. I believe if he is able to land a "name"guy fans with get behind him. If it's another former player, a Pedro type of coach from a losing organization, he's toast with the fans.
  13. That's the new baseline. The best organizations will improve upon that.
  14. But not many owners will just own, especially after a billion dollar investment.
  15. I totally see the irony. I also see them doing at least part of what fans have been asking for, hiring from outside. Now if we could actually hire from winning franchise that would be great. I said Sox fans will complain. I'm a Sox fan. I complained about how they hire from the outside. Doesn't that make sense? It seems consistent.
  16. I think the only job the ownership should do is hire a president of baseball operations, tell them the budget, and get out of their way.
  17. I'm exactly with you. I do think JR wants to win, but by his rules.
  18. Gotta love this https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2024/08/red-sox-alex-cora-confirms-history-will-be-made-monday-at-fenway-park.html
  19. He put together a group of investors and bought a business. He increased share holder value at a tremendous rate. In America that's the only yardstick that matters. We're just consumer pawns. Hell, they made money with cardboard cutouts of fans.
  20. Lol After all of his years of ownership I think JR really understands Sox fans. Even when they do exactly what fans have been begging for, bringing in people from outside the organization, Sox fans complain. The Royals must be wondering who were going to take from them next.
