Isn't this the guy that contending teams were going to offer Getz the moon to help their pennant race chances? -
Stone not sure he will be back in 25, season "wearing on him"

I think they should rotate out every year or two. -

And as Sox fans were conditioned to believe the worst will always happen. We probably need to shut down half the roster who are falling apart. -

Because shutting him down will decrease his trade value. Who wants a guy that can't pitch into September? -

I wonder how many other guys on the payroll this applies to. -

I wonder if we were fans of a consistently successful franchise if we would have a different view of our young potential superstar. Most here are holding our breath waiting for his arm to fall off. I wonder if we were Dodger fans if we'd be thinking in two years he's going to be competing for a Cy Young Award and we have team control. Based on our history we have no reason to believe this would actually work out for us, other franchises do have this work out. -

He may not need to fix his numbers. If he can throw a few good innings in September that might be enough. Show some sign he can help a team through an entire season. -
As a kid I was always excited to see Chicago as a location.

Men's basketball thought. If they took only the best players from these Olympics. Randomly divided them onto two teams regardless of country, and had them play, you would have the NBA All Star game.

My evidence is no top 100 prospect moved at the deadline. And the guy isn't going to help you much in the regular season and not at all in the post season. Not exactly the most overwhelming target and the highest mid season value. If he expressed a willingness to help a team in any way, including a move to the bullpen, I could see a team making that offer. But based on being a starter for the most innings in his life? Not exactly why teams trade for someone at the deadline. In six months I believe you will be right. I will be shocked if they don't receive offers this off-season with at least one top prospect, probably more. I just didn't see it as a deadline deal.

There wasn't one. But again what do you think Getz was offered? I have you my reasons why I don't think team's offered much. Never started a full season. Injury risks. Not interested in post season without an extension. No prospects getting moved for any player by any team. Deadline deals being used for the pennant race and post season not for cost and player control. Your reasons are all valid and why teams would be interested in the off season. Why trade and give up a roster spot for a guy that's likely not going to be pitching in September?

It's almost like every GM logged in here and learned he wasn't going to finish the season. Then they learned he wasn't going to pitch post season without a long term contract. There are no deals. I see that as an indicator that the market was soft. Again, no one gave up a top 100 prospect. I get the cheap and control but that isn't helping teams this season. Deadline deals are typically to get teams deeper into the playoffs or even into the playoffs. He wasn't going to help with that. If you were a GM how much would you have given up for him? I would not have given up much at the trade deadline.
