  1. Doing what I can. I think Pena will use that to motivate the Royals
  2. Ireland made some great economic strides the past 15 years. The engine was, in many peoples opinion, the apprenticeship style of education that was in place. I worked on a multi million dollar apprenticeship program for the Rio Grande Valley. It's amazing how cost effective this education model is.
  3. I just do not think you will see things like younger drinking ages with MADD against it and issues like that.
  4. Harassed 'Saddam' Seeks New Name RIYADH (Reuters) - A Saudi Arabian man who called his son Saddam Hussein 14 years ago is now desperately trying to have the name changed. Mohsen al-Harithy first asked the relevant authorities to change his son's name in 1990, when the forces of the now-deposed Iraqi president invaded neighboring Kuwait, the Saudi English-language Arab News newspaper reported Monday. But the boy's file was destroyed by an Iraqi missile attack on the civil status department in the Saudi capital Riyadh in the 1991 war to liberate Kuwait. "After I found the paper was gone, I forgot about the whole thing but recent events and the capture of Saddam force me to change the name," he said. "The Saddam name now symbolizes pessimism, evil, mockery and disappointment all at once." Saddam, once regarded as a hero by Arabs for adopting policies against the United States and Israel, was captured by U.S. troops in December without a fight. A U.S.-led invasion toppled Saddam in April. Al-Harithy told Arab News his son was constantly fighting with his classmates who tease him about his name. The newspaper did not say how the man planned to change his son's name without paperwork.
  5. Coroner Says Diana Not Pregnant at Death Princess Diana was not pregnant when she died, a former royal coroner says, apparently ruling out one of the rumors which has swirled around her death in a car crash six years ago.
  6. Too bad her past may bite her in the ass.
  7. Now we agree. My comment was voting isn't enough.
  8. Washington Post Article
  9. campaigns have changed too much in the past 30 years. Polling technology, focus groups, etc. have made for a much different political landscape. Plus in the 60s and 70s the youth were able to convince the public some of the changes were a good thing. Demonstartions, sit ins, etc. did more than voting.
  10. When texsox jr. saw this on tv he quiped "did the dad have to pay a quarter to get him back?
  11. Still not that different. Until they run businesses which contribute $$, combine to lobby like AARP, be the editors and publishers of mass media outlets, have the networking that the 40 and up enjoy, voting still won't make that much of a difference.
  12. What we have done with Mexico has caused massive investment by Europeans and Asian companies who want access to NAFTA countries. The same would happen in South America. I want a European style agreement which would open the US markets as well.
  13. I have to agree with him 100% on this. Thank you for the compliment. Yours are funny sometimes.
  14. mooch, welcome to the real world. the decision would be made by our elected representatives and last time I looked, most are not draft age. Same thing with voting age, drinking age, driver's license restrictions, etc.
  15. So if you have served you can vote for a draft and if you have never served you can vote against? Only our law makers who have served can vote on the matter? We can debate whether it is worthwhile to send a man to the moon, without actually having been to the moon, we can debate whether or not capitol punishment is worthwhile without having committed a murder or been a victim, so I think it is valid to debate if military service for all is necessary. I never served, I was 4 inches away from the paper with a pen in hand when I noticed a little lie by the recruiter and backed off. I'm certain my sarcastic There is actually two debates in one here. A draft is one method or perhaps we could look at a required 6 month to 1 year military service for everyone. For those who object to military service, they could do community service work.
  16. no reading the newspaper while driving, no putting on make up while driving, no shaving while driving, no sex while driving . . .
  17. Real world example using the peso. I live on the border. When the dollar is strong you see Texans heading across to Mexico to buy medicine, booze, clothes, you name it. They can buy more for their dollar and they are happy. Two months later it swings the other way and Mexicans and crossing in droves to buy stuff in the US. Our winter Texans are sad but our shop owners are singing. Then the pendulum swings the other way. Eventually everyone is happy for a moment. The US Dollar is the standard in the world now. Every dictator getting ready to flee his country buys US. Over the long haul we will win. Other currencies will rise for a while but after the adjustment, dollars will be in higher and higher demand if we continue to innovate. We need a Americas (North and South) Free Trade Agreement. NAFTA doesn't go far enough. I see a world with three or four markets. The Euro, Americas, Pacific Rim, and possibly a fourth depending on how other areas fall in. Possibly a unified African economy. How quickly we get there is a guess that others are probably better at making.
  18. ESPN, I forgot which show, was discussing the career records of Ted Williams and Bob Feller and how Ted probably would have set the all-time home run record if he didn't take time out for military service. I got to thinking, wouldn't it be weird if Maggs, Carlos Lee, etc. announced they were heading to Iraq to fight the war? Anyone here around during that time?
  19. I just traded some currency for a breakfast taco, does that count?
  20. Monumental Times? mon·u·men·tal adj. 1. Of, resembling, or serving as a monument. 2. Impressively large, sturdy, and enduring. So if we are building or we need a draft
  21. DISCOUNTS IN THE DRESSING ROOM AT HEIDI'S NEW SEX SHOP The infamous former "Hollywood Madam" is back in business HEIDI FLEISS has a new racket. The infamous former "Hollywood Madam" is back in business, catering to clients willing to pay for a sensual experience. Only this time, instead of getting customers to take OFF their clothes, she's trying to get them to put clothes on -- at her new L.A. boutique! The shop will feature sexy garb, like personalized panties emblazoned with the words "Heidi's No. 1 Girl." "We're not open yet," Heidi told Planet Tab in an exclusive interview, "but I expect to be after the first of the year. We're still doing some work on the interior, although I am willing to let serious buyers in to shop before the official opening." The boutique's name? Hollywood Madam, of course. The decor? Nude artwork and an antique bathtub that blows bubbles. The unique twist? A dressing room equipped with a Web camera. Customers who allow themselves to be shown on Heidi's pay-per-view Internet site while in the dressing room will get a price break on merchandise. "That was actually my brother's idea," she told Planet Tab. "You can get 20 to 30 percent off just by using that dressing room. We're even remodeling its interior to make it look like a bordello." Heidi, who spent 20 months in prison for money laundering, tax evasion and attempted pandering, was accused at trial of running a high-priced prostitution ring. But she says her new venture is completely legit. "It's gonna be a huge success," she promises. "Obviously, I have a great business sense."
