As a husband and father of two I have a hard time with our custom of having the spouse decide. If she was to recover what would this guy do? Leave his girlfriend? Unfortunantly spouses come and go in this society but giving birth is forever. I'm supporting parents positions in these types of matters, no matter what their position is. At first I thought it may be small ball vs. home run but judging by total bases, which I think is a better tool than average (debate?) we ranked 4th and we ranked 4th in ERA. If you had to point to a performance stat what would it be? I know it's a valid point that we couldn't beat Detroit, why couldn't we beat Detroit. I think once we isolate the couple performance issues we have a better idea of off season priorities. At least that's what I would be doing if I was Kenny and Co. We had a couple really good 5th starters; Buerhle and Colon. I think we needed a #2 and #3 starter. Seriously, I hadn't really considered the 5th starter issue, I was more down on the lack of a reliable closer and only one hitter over .300. But I'm starting to be a believer. Only one starter over achieved, Colon and Buerhle had sub-par by their standards.
