  1. And based on recent events this seems all so timely Then I'll get on my knees and pray, We don't get fooled again! Yeaaah ... Meet the new boss, Same as the old boss!
  2. All I could think of was: Out here in the fields I fight for my meals I get my back into my living I don't need to fight To prove I'm right I don't need to be forgiven Don't cry, don't raise your eye It's only teenage wasteland Sally, take my hand We'll travel south, 'cross land Put out the fire and don't look past my shoulder The exodus is here The happy ones are near Let's get together before we get much older Teenage wasteland, It's only teenage wasteland Teenage wasteland, Oh yeah, teenage wasteland They're all wasted
  3. Absolutely asshatsoxfan is #1 with Sox in his name. so sorry asshat
  4. Thinking about the knock your sox or socks off trade that wasn't, I got to thinking what would have made a difference? Maggs for a closer or big time starter? All-star for all-star type of move. Dealing Frank for a very good arm? Dumping JM sooner? All-Star break? After we got swept by the Royals opening weekend?
  5. moochpuppy martepartay rhibbie (that's the #1 cool package of name/sig/avatar) DonkeyKongerko I really like the well thought out original ones like: heather lee and steff and cwsox and chisoxfn and Texsox Is there any good ones with "sox" included?

  7. It's a tough call to figure out how long to play it out before deliverying the line. Wait too long and you might not get a chance, too soon and it's not as funny.
  8. I've always like Dan Patrick and think he handled this so well. I heard him the next day on the radio and it was funny as he told the story.
  9. I think Don Nelson got beat up by a big man at some point in his life. Has he ever coached a true center? The quote I heard down here when Shaq's name came up and someone asked who would guard him they responded Who guards Shaq now!? With only a couple true NBA prototype centers in the league the Mavs are going to put out 5 of the most athletic guys they can find, score a ton of points and be back in the conference finals. I remember all the years Disney on Ice or the Circus would come to town and the Bulls would go on the disaster of a road trip. The Texas triangle would be a huge loss to Houston, small loss to the Spurs, and probably beat Dallas. Then on to the coast and drop two or three in a row there. Strange to be discussing if this is what Dallas needs to make the finals.
  10. but we play to eleven . . . Spinal Tap was good but one of my favorite was Seriel with Martin Mull. Poked fun of every California new age stereotype. Didn;t age as well as I thought.

southsider, I love following you around your daily reading. I expect to see little signs like Southsider was here. Always entertaining. I'm taking notes because one day I want to grow up and be a moderator with over 8,000 quality posts.
  12. Problem is I really liked the song until those two over acted on the stage floor for 20 minutes (timed) The rest of the story. I was with two buddies so no one to console. We were in the second row so we got to see it all up close. I'll never forget that concert. The Stones had announced their Steel Wheels Tour and tickets were going to be some high price like $30 or $40 so concert attendance was down for almost every other act. I was a huge ELO fan at the time and was going no matter what. Hall and Oats also had Private Eyes (?) which had been played to death leading up to the concert. By the end of their set I came to dislike H&O so much. Concerts can change opinions of songs so much. I remember not liking Burn Down the Mission until I saw Elton John in concert at the old Popular Creek. I called up the day of the concert for lawn seats and the Tickettron agent said pavilion were still available. I snagged 5th row center. Someone explained they were the tickets that the staff and crew were allotted that no one used.

There's a line in a C&W song "I'd follow that girl anywhere . . ." I'm seeing a theme alright and it starts with boy meets girl Congratulations
  14. In the Living Years. Every generation Blames the one before And all of their frustrations Come beating on your door I know that I'm a prisoner To all my Father held so dear I know that I'm a hostage To all his hopes and fears I just wish I could have told him in the living years Crumpled bits of paper Filled with imperfect thought Stilted conversations I'm afraid that's all we've got You say you just don't see it He says it's perfect sense You just can't get agreement In this present tense We all talk a different language Talking in defence Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It's too late when we die To admit we don't see eye to eye So we open up a quarrel Between the present and the past We only sacrifice the future It's the bitterness that lasts So Don't yield to the fortunes You sometimes see as fate It may have a new perspective On a different day And if you don't give up, and don't give in You may just be O.K. Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It's too late when we die To admit we don't see eye to eye I wasn't there that morning When my Father passed away I didn't get to tell him All the things I had to say I think I caught his spirit Later that same year I'm sure I heard his echo In my baby's new born tears I just wish I could have told him in the living years Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It's too late when we die To admit we don't see eye to eye
  15. I saw Hall and Oats do a 20 minute rendition of Sarah Smile in concert in Milwaukee when they opned for ELO. Every women in the stadium was crying by the end. I went and bought beer twice before they ended. Every guy in line was saying, yeah my date started crying so I bailed out to get some food.
  16. Zach I was trying to remember the title. Another great hit from the 70s. I suggested Brandy because the song is so bad it makes me cry. I believe it was once picked as the worse hit of all time. Another great tear jerker, Mandy by Barely Manalow I can't listen to it anymore without hearing Steve Dahl's Oh Wally lyrics.
  17. Because Frank has always been a team first kind of player. Are we out of green ink around here? Frank Thomas said, "If this is what the team needs to improve, I'm all for it." Because Frank has always been a team first kind of player. Now doesn't that look better?
  18. and we're in the world series, it's all dream, it's all a dream
  19. By ANTONELLA LAZZERI POP babe Britney Spears performed a stiptease during a tour of New York clubs — and caused chaos. The singer danced at three night spots before tearing off items of clothing. rest of the story and photos at http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-20034...3482349,00.html
  20. It really is true that money, fame, power, and all the trappings can't assure happiness.
  21. Amazing. Of all the ways to apparently try to commit suicide (apparently) that is probably last on most people's list. I wonder what the rest of his story is.
