  1. but we play to eleven . . . Spinal Tap was good but one of my favorite was Seriel with Martin Mull. Poked fun of every California new age stereotype. Didn;t age as well as I thought.

southsider, I love following you around your daily reading. I expect to see little signs like Southsider was here. Always entertaining. I'm taking notes because one day I want to grow up and be a moderator with over 8,000 quality posts.
  3. Problem is I really liked the song until those two over acted on the stage floor for 20 minutes (timed) The rest of the story. I was with two buddies so no one to console. We were in the second row so we got to see it all up close. I'll never forget that concert. The Stones had announced their Steel Wheels Tour and tickets were going to be some high price like $30 or $40 so concert attendance was down for almost every other act. I was a huge ELO fan at the time and was going no matter what. Hall and Oats also had Private Eyes (?) which had been played to death leading up to the concert. By the end of their set I came to dislike H&O so much. Concerts can change opinions of songs so much. I remember not liking Burn Down the Mission until I saw Elton John in concert at the old Popular Creek. I called up the day of the concert for lawn seats and the Tickettron agent said pavilion were still available. I snagged 5th row center. Someone explained they were the tickets that the staff and crew were allotted that no one used.

There's a line in a C&W song "I'd follow that girl anywhere . . ." I'm seeing a theme alright and it starts with boy meets girl Congratulations
  5. In the Living Years. Every generation Blames the one before And all of their frustrations Come beating on your door I know that I'm a prisoner To all my Father held so dear I know that I'm a hostage To all his hopes and fears I just wish I could have told him in the living years Crumpled bits of paper Filled with imperfect thought Stilted conversations I'm afraid that's all we've got You say you just don't see it He says it's perfect sense You just can't get agreement In this present tense We all talk a different language Talking in defence Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It's too late when we die To admit we don't see eye to eye So we open up a quarrel Between the present and the past We only sacrifice the future It's the bitterness that lasts So Don't yield to the fortunes You sometimes see as fate It may have a new perspective On a different day And if you don't give up, and don't give in You may just be O.K. Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It's too late when we die To admit we don't see eye to eye I wasn't there that morning When my Father passed away I didn't get to tell him All the things I had to say I think I caught his spirit Later that same year I'm sure I heard his echo In my baby's new born tears I just wish I could have told him in the living years Say it loud, say it clear You can listen as well as you hear It's too late when we die To admit we don't see eye to eye
  6. I saw Hall and Oats do a 20 minute rendition of Sarah Smile in concert in Milwaukee when they opned for ELO. Every women in the stadium was crying by the end. I went and bought beer twice before they ended. Every guy in line was saying, yeah my date started crying so I bailed out to get some food.
  7. Zach I was trying to remember the title. Another great hit from the 70s. I suggested Brandy because the song is so bad it makes me cry. I believe it was once picked as the worse hit of all time. Another great tear jerker, Mandy by Barely Manalow I can't listen to it anymore without hearing Steve Dahl's Oh Wally lyrics.
  8. Because Frank has always been a team first kind of player. Are we out of green ink around here? Frank Thomas said, "If this is what the team needs to improve, I'm all for it." Because Frank has always been a team first kind of player. Now doesn't that look better?
  9. and we're in the world series, it's all dream, it's all a dream
  10. By ANTONELLA LAZZERI POP babe Britney Spears performed a stiptease during a tour of New York clubs — and caused chaos. The singer danced at three night spots before tearing off items of clothing. rest of the story and photos at http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-20034...3482349,00.html
  11. It really is true that money, fame, power, and all the trappings can't assure happiness.
  12. Amazing. Of all the ways to apparently try to commit suicide (apparently) that is probably last on most people's list. I wonder what the rest of his story is.

I was figuring it was for the Blue Jays, the Nordiques, or the best part of an Egg McMuffin
  15. Way back when, I was a dj in a box and did a few weddings. Someone asked me to play Lady in Red and I didn't give it a second glance. About half way through I see the mother-of-the-bride spitting fire and heading my way. (This will tell you how long ago this was) she yanked the record (vinyl) off the Technics 1200 turntable and flung it. Screaming that that was not an appropriate wedding song. I grabbed Celebration! and dropped that on as fast as possible

  17. Ever since the NHL All-Star game at the old Stadium, during Gulf War 1, the Star Spangle banner chokes me up. I guess at that moment I became old and sentimental. Also in no particular order: In my Life Brandy Billy Don't be a Hero The Night Chicago Died

    I loved it

Come on in, the beer is in the fridge, pizzas coming, I know the party looks too manly but there are ladies coming
  19. 40-42 late injuries keep them out of the playoffs. Give me ping pong balls not 1st round defeats.
  20. If I had to make a prediction, I see a mid 40 win season and making the playoffs but not doing much. I'd rather finish the season with a couple ping pong balls and load up then get bounced the first round of the play offs. Does anyone remember the grand old days before the lottery? Man what a fix that was. Every team wouild try and keep a straight face when they announce they are going to let the kids see what they can do. In other words start tanking we're looking for X player in the draft.
