  1. Speaking of alchohol and first aid, remember if you get something nasty in your eye anything, anything, anything you can drink can be used to irrigate the eye.
  2. As much as I too like the name The Cell or The Padded Cell as the case may be, it reminds me of the corporate greed that has destroyed baseball. Cominsky's name should always have hung over the door. The only honorable substitute would be Veeck Field. As a name US Cellular Field sucks and I prefer no reminders. People need to get over it..It's quite ridicules to keep a grudge on the name change. The team needed money to help with the remodeling of the stadium cause if all the damn complaints on how sucky it is..Where do you think they were gonna get this money? Get over it...It's not they changed the name on the OLD Comiskey park.. And Mr. Comiskey was a cheapskate anyhow..that's why all his players hated him and why they were desaparte..hence the BlackSox scandal.. This guy wasn't a saint. I do agree that Veeck would have been an honorable substitute, but putting his name of the field ain't gonna bring in money to help pay for the park.. And if I had the choice of bringing in money to help make the park a better place for the fans or keeping the name of Comiskey park..Well..I pick having a better park for the fans and we can't go back and wish they had built a better ball park..blah, blah, blah It's too late for that.. It be nice to keep the name for the nostalgic of it and such...but that isn't gonna bring in money.. And it's just a name..people can still call it Comiskey if they want, Sox Park(like I do) and move on.. I've accepted it, I just don't have to like it or embrace it, or allow it to grow. With the exception of Minute Maid Park, I can't think of a worse corporate tie in. Using your theory shouldn't it have been named The Taxpayers of Illinois Field. I suppose you wouldn't mind having Motel 6 sponsor the team and plastering their names across the jerseys like a neighborhood softball team. It would help pay salaries.
  3. The beauty of this is all the f***ing Cub fans are probably thinking it's sooo cool. Of course we know the truth. Relax, let him get a few votes in the process. Would you rather have a northsider in the Mayor's office? It's a f***ing joke if anyone really thinks he's suddenly decides he likes the Cubs over Sox.
  4. I've had the pleasure to meet Ozzie on two occasions. Once on the street another time at a charity event. He impressed me both times. I would applaud.

    Sig Contest

Since we have several, very cool designers of sigs why not have a contest beginning in two weeks for the #1 Sig on soxtalk? This gives everyone a chance to put one together. We'll take nominations on October 17th and have voting for a couple days. Any suggestions for the rules? Size, topics, etc. Perhaps best Sox Best Gratuitous Sexy pic etc.

  7. We could have trimmed down the 25 suggestions I made Sex, Lies, and Politics seems to sum it up nicely.

    I-90 Accident

I use to fear 94/90/294 then I moved to the border. Imagine two cultures and their driving norms and traditions mixing? For example in Mexico if you are merging onto a busier highway and there is traffic you are expected to stop on the ramp and wait for traffic to clear. Now imagine a US driver behind them looking over his/her shoulder and accelerating hoping to get into traffic. Of course it happens on both sides of the border. In 7 years I have seen more bad accidents on Expressway 83 between Browsville and McAllen Texas than any expressway in Chicago in 35 years. My prayers are with all those families.
  10. BTW while the story focused on what she ate, in a survival situation the rule of 3s applies. 3 minutes without oxygen 3 hours without warmth 3 days without water 3 weeks and longer without food. I wonder where she got the water. Mom said a neighbor was watching the baby. We may find out the neighbor decided to just leave the kid and mom is innocent. There are dads out there who are divirced or never married the mother of their child. Way too many only phone occasionally. He may be a piss poor father but I would call him legally wrong here. Anotehr factor to mess this kid up, more than just s***ty parents, is the effects of the 3 week isolation. THat is a very long time to be cut off from human contact but physically and emotionaly. Scientist have a hard time quantifying the effects but they are never good, especially at that young an age.
  11. My sentiments exactly. Thank you for stating them with such elegance.
  12. LOGIC HAS NO PLACE ON THESE BOARDS! Sorry, I'll stop.
  13. Shall we put together the all-substance Hawk team? Probert has to have a starting slot along with Theo My disgust for Wirt$ and Pully( Pully my head out of worstz's ass) has continued as strong as when I was in Chicago. They are the worst things that have ever happened to Chicago sports. Pulford makes crumbs look like a f***ing genious. Chicago should be the 2nd biggest hockey town in the US (I'll tip my hat to Detroit) instead we lack behind almost everyone. :fyou them both Now I feel better.

    Trades

Faulty poll. I would love to trade Koch for A-Rod or Bonds. You have to give up talent to get talent unless the GM is braindead and thinks he's getting a different guy
  15. When did we really wear out the and the and the and of course the
  16. Without any major roster moves from any team the division would stack up as Twinkies ~ On the decline with age Sox ~ holding or slight improvement Royals ~ another step forward Cleveland ~ not a factor Tigers ~ only 100 loses Based on this I think we would make the playoffs. We were right there with 2 weeks to go. Better season from Colon and Mark, only a slight drop from Estaban and the emergence of a 5th starter has us over the top.
  17. I believe both may be correct. By trying to cut $15 million he may wind up with only a slight increase. Or the theory I like is: Perhaps the $15 million is a couple/few players who will not be back. Cut $15M in those salaries and add $20 in new players. I'm too old to worry about speculation. It won't do any good.
  18. I agree with you. I agree with your agreement
  19. The Work Zone or the I'm at Work Zone I'm OK You're an Idiot Everything but the Sox We didn't make the f***ing playoffs so this is all we have Board :fyou Quagmire The Swamp Socrates? Not!
  20. Deep Thoughts Manuel's Corner (he's not a Sox topic either) Sex, Lies, and Politics f*** That Tabula Rosa Outside the Park Sun-Times (We make up s*** too) Free For All (Baby) Revolution
  21. adventurist, agreeable, accomodating, available . . . single
  22. After so many months away from home I'd be quick on the plane. As a matter of fact, I'd like to wave to the guys after my last start and cheer them on from the Dominican. I can't see him not filing for free agency. Do you believe the Sox tossed out their best offer first? Do you believe he wants to win a championship? Do you think he deserves to know the status on the other players before making a decision? Wouldn't you like to have a few teams bidding? I know I'd wait and here what George had to say. Stepping into Clemens role would be cool. Loyalty issues? Why should Bart have any loyalty to the White Sox? He's been traded like a piece of meat a couple times, now it's his chance to control his fate. I'd like to see him back. I'd like to go into the next few seasons with Mark, Bart, and Estaban. Gee, I hope the tub-o-goo posts don't hurt his feelings and cause him to leave.
  23. And take it from player's salaries. That's my only worry. Salary is salary and I'd hate to lose a quality player to get Torre ir any other manager. How about Jerry Manuel, I hear he's available. He was just Manager of the Year in 2000 and his teams are in at almost every year.
