I use to fear 94/90/294 then I moved to the border. Imagine two cultures and their driving norms and traditions mixing? For example in Mexico if you are merging onto a busier highway and there is traffic you are expected to stop on the ramp and wait for traffic to clear. Now imagine a US driver behind them looking over his/her shoulder and accelerating hoping to get into traffic. Of course it happens on both sides of the border. In 7 years I have seen more bad accidents on Expressway 83 between Browsville and McAllen Texas than any expressway in Chicago in 35 years. My prayers are with all those families.

BTW while the story focused on what she ate, in a survival situation the rule of 3s applies. 3 minutes without oxygen 3 hours without warmth 3 days without water 3 weeks and longer without food. I wonder where she got the water. Mom said a neighbor was watching the baby. We may find out the neighbor decided to just leave the kid and mom is innocent. There are dads out there who are divirced or never married the mother of their child. Way too many only phone occasionally. He may be a piss poor father but I would call him legally wrong here. Anotehr factor to mess this kid up, more than just s***ty parents, is the effects of the 3 week isolation. THat is a very long time to be cut off from human contact but physically and emotionaly. Scientist have a hard time quantifying the effects but they are never good, especially at that young an age.

Which Bull will be an all star the soonest?
Texsox replied to Bmr31's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
and great D gets you on the all-star team -
My sentiments exactly. Thank you for stating them with such elegance.

LOGIC HAS NO PLACE ON THESE BOARDS! Sorry, I'll stop.

Shall we put together the all-substance Hawk team? Probert has to have a starting slot along with Theo My disgust for Wirt$ and Pully( Pully my head out of worstz's ass) has continued as strong as when I was in Chicago. They are the worst things that have ever happened to Chicago sports. Pulford makes crumbs look like a f***ing genious. Chicago should be the 2nd biggest hockey town in the US (I'll tip my hat to Detroit) instead we lack behind almost everyone. :fyou them both Now I feel better.

Faulty poll. I would love to trade Koch for A-Rod or Bonds. You have to give up talent to get talent unless the GM is braindead and thinks he's getting a different guy

Without any major roster moves from any team the division would stack up as Twinkies ~ On the decline with age Sox ~ holding or slight improvement Royals ~ another step forward Cleveland ~ not a factor Tigers ~ only 100 loses Based on this I think we would make the playoffs. We were right there with 2 weeks to go. Better season from Colon and Mark, only a slight drop from Estaban and the emergence of a 5th starter has us over the top.

I believe both may be correct. By trying to cut $15 million he may wind up with only a slight increase. Or the theory I like is: Perhaps the $15 million is a couple/few players who will not be back. Cut $15M in those salaries and add $20 in new players. I'm too old to worry about speculation. It won't do any good.

I agree with you. I agree with your agreement

After so many months away from home I'd be quick on the plane. As a matter of fact, I'd like to wave to the guys after my last start and cheer them on from the Dominican. I can't see him not filing for free agency. Do you believe the Sox tossed out their best offer first? Do you believe he wants to win a championship? Do you think he deserves to know the status on the other players before making a decision? Wouldn't you like to have a few teams bidding? I know I'd wait and here what George had to say. Stepping into Clemens role would be cool. Loyalty issues? Why should Bart have any loyalty to the White Sox? He's been traded like a piece of meat a couple times, now it's his chance to control his fate. I'd like to see him back. I'd like to go into the next few seasons with Mark, Bart, and Estaban. Gee, I hope the tub-o-goo posts don't hurt his feelings and cause him to leave.

And take it from player's salaries. That's my only worry. Salary is salary and I'd hate to lose a quality player to get Torre ir any other manager. How about Jerry Manuel, I hear he's available. He was just Manager of the Year in 2000 and his teams are in at almost every year.

Excuse me but I believe I was closest Flash Tizzle was close but backasswards with his 32-18 Bears win Thebighurtbegood had it 31-17 he was -7 and -6 I had 44-17 I was +6 and -6 And the Bears should be looking to the Tigers for inspiration. They may not win a game all season. I live in Cowboys Country and this revolting turn of events is not good. I may have to pretend to be a Cubs fan to shut them up (Astros)

I'll even go early in the week Vikings Titans Chiefs Panthers Seahawks Cowboys Raiders Bills Dolphins Chargers 49ers Redskins Browns Buccaneers

Damn Cub fan, friend of mine, called up and started singing Hey, Hey Holy mackeral no doubt about it . . . :fthecubs

I think he also deserves a chance to be battling for a WS every year for the next few. If the team does come back as a shell of itself I could understand him shopping around.

I voted for Van Buren. That Seinfeld episode with the Van Buren gang was so damn funny. Only about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, but trim and erect, Martin Van Buren dressed fastidiously. His impeccable appearance belied his amiability--and his humble background. Of Dutch descent, he was born in 1782, the son of a tavernkeeper and farmer, in Kinderhook, New York. Son of a tavern owner, how cool is that?!

Maybe too big, but that is so damn funny.

How can you avoid it. Baseball fans gravitate towards these kinds of stories. Imagine a game 7 Red Sox-Cubs game. I'm wondering if at some point I may cheer the unbderdog and begin pulling for them. I know I'm cheering Boston all the way and believe if I was a lifelong Texan I would probably be cheering the Cubs.

Frank is mentioned in other threads speculating on the team's roster for next year. I happen to believe the greatest Sox player of the past 50 years deserves his own thread and deserves to finish his career as a White Sox.
