  1. I'm thinking of heading to the mountain for a week or so. Last time I did, we rattled off 8 wins and got back into the race. I scheduled myself to be on the ranch tonight moving a cow ot two and making plans for my Scout Troop. I'll get home late and rush to the computer and either cry or cheer. I'm too old for this s***.

  3. Top Ten (Not in Order) Yesterday Long and Winding Road Norwegan Wood We can Work it OUt Nowhere Man Ticket to Ride Lady Madonna Let it Be While my Guitar Gently Weeps Lucy in the Sky Come Together I'll Follow the Sun Hey, it's close to 10! We're missing a guitar player
  4. The awesome talent and variety is what I love. If I had written down my top 10 favorite Beatle tunes of all time every year for the past 30 years I bet every song would have appeared at least once. ANd no two lists would have been the same. Songs I thought were just album fillers become sentimental favorites at different times in my life. I gave up my radio show in college which was talk/student activities to do a Top 40 which no one wanted. I "re-defined" what I considered Top 40 and instead of Me and You and a Dog Named Boo, I rocked with the Beatles, and other "pop" hits.
  5. I just want to be there, you have to beat everyone sooner or later and I think the road to the WS is going through Oakland this year. Anyone care to take on Foulke in the deciding game?
  6. I can't believe how much the frickin worse team in baseball history is going to have in our making the playoffs. I like the matchups against Minny, I like the rotation with E-Lo getting us off and Bart in what will be the biggest game of the series/year to this point. Every scenario has game three as huge 0-2 we really really have to win or it's all over 1-1 we need the edge to be plus or minus 1 1/2 game 2-0 sweep baby and they're riding shotgun, almost in the backseat.
  7. I'm almost ready to put my head in the sand and pull it out on Friday morning. I'm too old for this. I don;t know what it is about this team, this year, that has me more emotionally involved. Perhaps I'm thinking this is the most momentum I can recall a Sox team having going into the last two weeks of the season.
  8. Good thing I'm not a math major. Now that I re-looked at the schedule and thought about the alst couple days ME That quote a few weeks back from JM saying that before the season is our Garland will play a major role is coming true.
  9. I thought with the rest day we would see E-Lo, Bart, and Mark the nest three days which sets them up to close out the season as well. Elsewhere on this site, I'm reading E-Lo, Garland, Bart. I can't find official word from JM. Anyone know?
  10. Are you certain? With the rest day I thought we would be E-Lo, Bart, Mark
  11. We can still win if we go 1-2 but we'll have to hope that A. The Tigers play soem ball B. KC lays exhales deeply and rolls over C. Both 2-1 would be nice.
  12. What!! Nobody believes in a fairy tale year
  13. Just as soon as the baseball season ends I'll start to pay attention to UT football (damn loss Saturday) UT-PanAmerican basketball, and play some golf. Winter is the ebst time of year down here for golf. Cool 80s temps, gentle breezes. It is so much more fun shoveling sunshine than snow.
  14. William Koch ? Who calls him that? William Botch is more like it William Botch? No it's Billy Botch :fyou
  15. Instead of talking theory, lets put some potential facts to it. Based on a 5 man rotation, and correct me if I'm wrong here but: E-Lo pitches on the 16, 21, 26 Bart pitches on the 17,22,27 Mark pitches on the 18,23,28 The playoff game would be ASAP after the 28th. I'm not sure if they set a date. At any rate Estaban has the most rest of the "big three". If the game is scheduled for the 30th we have almost not choice but to go with E-Lo on 4 days rest. Unless we want to go with Garland
  16. I was going to open this thread just to say Duh! you just now t out but after reading a few posts I have to start feeling a bit better about the AL Central. Thank you Corg. I would prefer to be playing the Injuns and Tigers instaed of the BoSox and Yankmees
  17. If we want to sign a big name FA picture I would start with Colon. I like the guy, I like his laid back approach and getting the job done. Way is it that it always seems easier to sign someone elses guy? Still I expect to see him in Yankmee pinstripes next spring. I could also see him moving to Atlanta. Of course corg would love to see the tub of goo rounding the bases like a herd of elephants.
  18. My Astros will be playing post season
  19. All this is easier if you have a better closer. If Colon was pitching for the Dodgers the past couple starts do you think he would have had complete games? Hell no. We would have been saving his arm for playoffs. 3-1 lead going into the 9th and our best closer is ~~ ta da! ~~ Colon I hate to say it but if we go to a 4-man rotation we're going to be a mess in a couple weeks. Anyone remember Black Jacks playoff record? As I recall it wasn't too good and I believe a lot of that was the innings pitched by the time the playoffs game around. We have a solid 1-2-3 an erratic 4 (Cy or Judy) and say a prayer and toss your cookies baby because expansion sucks. The 5th starter today would have been AAA at best a generation ago. The Marlins or Diamondbacks or ?? has our and everyone elses 5th starters.
  20. I only have 2 minutes and have to get back to home work -- a man my age shouldn't have home work. Bart!
