ESPN is looking at MTV as its business model. Soon programming like PlayMakers and whatever their calling the Notre Dame series will be the norm with maybe only an hour or three of Sportscenter.
  2. Well if he's on your fantasy team which we assume has to do with ahem baseball we'll have to cheer for him. Now I have Anna and the Williams sisters on my mfantasy team, can we cheer for them and I also?
  3. My vote for most hated player of 2003 is Billy Botch :fyou and :puke are usually seen with two or three words of his name. Poor guy, struggling with a nagging injury but he far exceeded Jimenez, PK, JM, KW and others on the hated list.
  4. what is an elimination date? I know what a clinch date is but I am unfamiliar with this phrase. Since the picks must be in by June 15th, hardly matters anymore, I am just curious! Nice to see BrandoFan posting again! Misty water colored memories of June. We were something like 7 or 8 back and playing like s***. Amazing what a few new faces, some timely slugging, etc. will do for our outlook. I wouldn't want to start a clinch date thread, that would jinx it for certain.
  5. JM has a radio and a magic eight ball, I'm fairly certain he hasn't moved up to modems and computers.
  6. I'd love 12 hours of that week . . . Full time job, 3/4 time college student, husband, father of two teenagers, Boy Scout Leader, I get tired just thinking about it.
  7. It is going to be a great finish in the NL Central. I have reasons to pull for all three teams. However I can only be kind to the Cubs if we get in the playoffs also. I couldn't stand the Cubs in - Sox out scenario. I'm just enjoying seeing some good playoff race baseball in a couple divisions.
  8. You won't see it until Thursday? we'll try not to tell you the results
  9. I'm embarrassed. I made a note to check this to see who I'm going to need to send the prize to. I hope we're wrong, very wrong. Looks like Brando Fan may be a winner

Part of this is Bonds is finally acting like a human instead of a stuck up asshole. The media figures grab it while its there since he'll go back to his brooding ways in no time. It is so hard to play baseball after losing your father, working an actual job would be so much easier. In a hospital bed from exhaustion. A hospital bed!? How many of us check into a hospital because of exhaustion? The best I get is honey you take the kids, I need a nap
  11. I really wish they would stay in the playoff race a bit longer. Gosh darn it if the Sox don't win it all, I'd like to see the Cubs win
  12. Wow and pinned to the top! Thanks everybody. Twinkies and Royals lose, whatta day.
  13. Good for Josh. Called up in the midst of a pennant race.
  14. The more the media annotes E-Lo the Cy Young the more I think he's gonna get hosed. A playoff spot and 20 wins should be enough.
  15. Just keep taking care of business and winning series. After Boston ew have 7 series to close out the season. We win 5 or 6 of those series and we should be fine. Avoid sweeps and life is wonderful. Crank up the printing presses and start screen printing it's post season baseball.
  16. Let's not give JM any more options in his Magic 8 Ball.
  17. I still worry that the Royals don't realize they are through. At least at some point the Twins may realize they are tired and fade gracefully, I see KC battling until the end.
  18. My formula for JM continued employment with the White Sox Miss Playoffs = Adios, Good bye, call the agent and take a long trip. Finish something like 6th on the All-Time Sox list. Out in the 1st Round = 50-50 on next season. The team met minimum expectations. Out in the ALCS = He's here in 2004 without and extension. Basically a one year reprieve. Out in the WS = He's here on a 3 year contract and we may grow to love the guy. WS Win = Kids will grow up never knowing another WS Manager.
  19. Remember what the Os did really doesn't fool major league front offices. They have the staff to analyze all his outings before pulling a trade. And while it's true he was pitching against the other teams 4-5 starter the oppponents were still batting their 1st lineup. I wish we culd teach whatever turned E-LO around. The new pitch, a little more confidence, etc. By the time a player is in the majors it has to be assumed he has talent and a lot of it. What they get out of that talent seperates the top players and the mediocre.
  20. It's more than winning 4 on this trip it was beating the Yankees 2 of 3 in NY. If the scores in NY were reversed and we swept the Tigers there would still be several questions marks. Winning the Yankees series was critical.
