Instead of trashing other great topics like Return of Koch: Billy Revenge let's have a thread devoted to the inane personal attacks and name calling. Seems like it could be very popular.
-
Imagine Botch logging in and seeing over 350 posts about his return!
-
We should also remember we would be signing the 2004-2005 or 2006 edition of Robbie Alomar. Amazing how when people get near retirement they are looking for respect, and a cozy place to ride out the years. Who says we wouldn't wind up with the 2003 NY Mets version? I'm not that excited about signing him. I hope I'm wrong and he's another Fisk. Carl fixed his troubles while in Texas and I believe he proved he wants to play and is a good clubhouse presence, only a rough stretch will expose Robbie's current character.

We start tossing rocks at underperformers this season and as Forrest Gump said "Some times there ain't enough rocks" Remember the longest thread is MOTHERF*CKING B*TCHASS DIPs*** PASSIONLESS SOX!!!!
-
Since the MOTHERF*CKING B*TCHASS DIPs*** PASSIONLESS SOX!!!! thread has close to 600 replies I would assume we all thought it at one time or another! Remember taking leads into the 9th and :puke

You know at some point all these guys become embarrasing. I still remember the Superfan at Bulls games who weighed like 350 pounds and would sprint circles around the floor. We weren't laughing with him The worst of all is the "Original San Diego Chicken" is still touring minor and independant league stadiums to keep the glory. Sad replica of when he first came on the scene. I believe all these guys, and it's always guys, should have an expiration date when they have to adopt a new identity, possibly through gainful employment.

No, we need the 2002 edition. The upgrade sucks
-
Looking ahead I like our 3 man rotation of E-Lo, Mark, and Bart. I believe we could get on a roll and be there in the end. Every team has at least one weak area. Ours is the bullpen for certain and possibly too much power and not enough average. I haven't checked but I'd be surprised if we didn't lead the Majors in solo homeruns. Another way to say it, and just to use this smiley is we have too many drummers and no bass players.
-
Too bad. At his best he's the best we have. Right now I'm starting to wonder just how bad his arm is. He may need surgery part 2. I wonder how he passed the Sox physical, I can't remember a time this season when he was throwing like his old self.

LMAO Freshman year, unless you look good, you ain't getting many dates. Personality doesn't matter. Everything your parents told you about girls is wrong (especially your mom). Play a sport every season even if you suck. Join every club that interests you. Soon you'll know everybody. Be nice to every adult, don't let them catch you in a lie.
-
Excuse me but could we finish this season . . . . . . or are we that programmed to be thinking about next year every Labor Day?!
-
Quick somebody start a Konerko thread so we can discuss Koch or Botch

I like the move for a couple of reasons. #1 Against the NYY, Mark's chances are maybe 50-50 or slightly better. Against the Tigers he zooms up to 80 or 90% Why give the Tigers a chance against Neal? #2 Which would shake Neal's confidence more getting beat by the best team in baseball or the worse? Which would boost his confidence more a quality start vs. the Yankees or against the "of course we beat them, they're the 2003 Tigers?" He can't lose confidence wise against the Yankees, he can only win. He can't win confidence wise with the Tigers, he can only lose. #3 Sorry but we probably are not going to sweep the Yankees if the first two guys can't get a split we better turn it around in Detroit anyway no matter what game 3 brings.
-
Oh Tex.. you're so stupid and you don't know anything about baseball.... I know. I just look at other boards and repeat s*** here. If Billy starts pegging the gun at 99 with some movement we could almost breath easy in the 9th. I just thought of this now but the guys in Oakland must be laughing their asses off

Today's Award for best use of Green goes to Rex!

LMAO Come on we all wish we had someone like him at the Trib shilling for the Sox. If I was a KC fan I'd be buying his paper. And remember, by our estimates, the Royals are months overdue with their swoon. Here it is almost the end of August and guess who's hanging around?
-
Why bring him back now? I agree that the 2002 edition of Billy Koch before he transformed into Billy Botch :fyou would have me thinking WS instead of getting into the playoffs. However I don't see how two weeks of IR changed much. He was already on reduced pitches. As I recall almost everyone here cheered when we got him. If we must have him back on the roster, give him spot work in middle relief but not too many pitches. Perhaps have him come in for a couple batters then go to Sulllivan or whomever.

Tough Schedule? (Yankees YNOT)
Texsox replied to DonkeyKongerko's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
1) Who will win the series (CHW/NYY) (2 points)? CHW (not worth 2pts to pick Yankmees) 2) Will Frank Thomas have an RBI (Y/N) (2 points)? Yes 3) How many errors will the Sox make (4 points)? 1 4) Which Sox bullpen pitcher will face the most batters (4 points)? Sullivan 5) How many hits will Joe Crede have in the series (5 points)? 5 6) How many innings will Esteban Loaiza pitch to the nearest third (5 points)?62/3 7) Who will lead the Sox in batting average for the series (min. 6 ABs) (4 points)? Maggs 8) Which bullpen will give up more earned runs (CHW/NYY) (2 points)?CHW 9) Who will lead the AL Central after the series (2 points)? CHW 10) Will Hideki Matsui hit a homerun (Y/N) (2 points)? Yes TIEBREAKER: White Sox total number of runners stranded as a team for the series 15 -
One possible reason is Buerhle vs. the Tigers is as close to a guaranteed win as you'd find in MLB. A win is a win and taking a chance with Neal vs. the Yankees may be a good strategy. I'll bet he wants to pitch against them in Yankee Stadium.

I don't agree with automatically dumping the worse X number of umps. I would rather see a system where you need to maintain a Y% of correct calls or you are sent down. This way if X+? could be reassigned if they stick instead of a bad one keeping his job because a few others were worse. Or allows more to stay if they are getting the calls right. I'm still amazed we haven't seen a woman umpire at the MLB level.
-
Yeah its a given you give the pitcher the benefit of the doubt there. I have NO idea what that ump was thinking. The Ump has to call each play as if it was the only play of the game. Once they start making calls based on the situation, we have anarchy with the umps picking winners and losers. I don't agree with NBA refs who swallow the whistle the last 60 seconds and "let them play" or a NFL official who allows some extra contact away from the play. Call it like you see it and let the chips fall where they may.
-
At least from a fan's perspective the expectations are 3-0 vs. the Tigers. Anything less is kind of a disapointment. With the Yankmees, grab a win and leave 1-2 and life isn't too bad. On the other hand 3-0 vs. the Yankmees and start printing the playoff tix (from a fan perspective)
-
4-2 This week will be very nice and 3-3 would be acceptable no matter how it comes. Scary that the Tigers are probably licking their chops waiting for us
-
We rate threads already, see the number of replies? I wouldn't want to see a rate a thread. Most really good threads get a nice thread all ready and the s***ty ones get a go f*** off so why bother rating?
