  1. I didn't look at the schedule to figurte out how many starts Neal can expect. I'm hoping we make a commitment and give him 3-4 as a minimum. If he can keep us in those games with a chance to win he's a success under this situation. In other words, he doesn't have to carry the weight of the game on his shoulders and I pray he doesn't think so. We have pitchers that are expected to do that; E-Lo, Mark, and Bart. The offense should be expected to carry Neal. All we should expect him to do is keep us in the game by pitching 6-7 innings and avoiding big numbers. Everyone has a role.
  2. 1) Who will win the series (CHW/ANA/Split) (2 points)? Split 2) Will Frank Thomas have at least 4 hits (Y/N) (2 points)? Yes 3) How many errors will the Sox make (4 points)? 2 4) Who will lead the Sox in extra-base hits (4 points)? Jose Valentin 5) How many homeruns will the Sox hit (5 points)? 5 6) How many baserunners will Mark Buehrle allow (5 points)? 5 7) How many games ahead or behind will the Sox be in the AL Central (4 points)? Even 8) Will Neal Cotts get a win (Y/N) (2 points)? No 9) Will the Sox have any ten-hit games (Y/N)(2 points)? Yes 10) Will Gary Glover allow an earned run (Y/N) (2 points)? Yes TIEBREAKER: Pitch count for Neal Cotts 90

    Board Behavior

I ran cross country in HS and college and weight was never a problem. 75 to 100+ mile weeks keep the weight off. At this point in the cross country season (fall sport in Illinois) you should be building a base with long slow distance. Mix in a little walking to increase the miles and you will be good.

    Board Behavior

I just visited the Royal and Twin boards and am embarrased to be a Sox fan. One guy (sox1sox1) trolled through the KC site with such thought provoking topics as Royals stink like poo from my Crack. I am so glad we don't get that sort of trolling here.
  5. I still think Houston will win the division and the central will not produce a wild card so post season thoughts of cub fans are retarded. It sure is fun following the Astros a little bit. Local coverage and they are in the cubs division.
  6. Nice of the A's to not spoil your big day.
  7. Stolen bases are not nearly as important as they use to be. Now you stay over at first and hope the next guy sends it 100 feet into the stands. Catchers who can hit and keep the ball in front of them are in demand. I like the guy, but overall the potential loss will be what confidence our starters have in Sandy or his back up. If they like how the games are being called, we may be better off. If we start seeing pitches waved off it may be a sign of a problem. Bottom line worry about how our pitchers adjust to Sandy not stolen bases.

    Tigers

8/9/2003 The Tigers now have no chance for a winning season. 83 loses and mounting. Their magic number is now 19. :puke
  9. As I sit here contemplating the universe and our position in it (1st Place) my thoughts turned quickly to food and coffee. A quick trip to the local taquaria for a tacos huevos with pappas has me very content. I love a nice taco for breakfast.
  10. Billy f***ing Botch. I don't hate him, this must be a nightmare season for him. But I really hate the way he has been pitching. I hate the way Jerry has played master tinkerer throughout this season. The bullpen woes aren't totally his making but some of his decisions have made the problems worse.
  11. All I could think of during the 9th was If you want a job done right, do it yourself. Mark was the best closer we got last night
  12. I am so glad Carl was in the game.
  13. Better in August then May. Of course better in October then August.
  14. If we had a Smoltz type closer it's simple. You trot Mark out and wait for the first sign of trouble. Then, if necessary, bring in the stud closer. Jerry has to be sitting there holding his breath hoping to not need the pen. I'm starting to feel a little sorry for the guy.
  15. Nice looking up and not seeing Pena's ass. The key now is to not let up. Split the next two with the A's and things will look nice.
  16. And the Magic 8-Ball says Carl!
  17. Whenever JM goes to the bullpen I am reminded of Ol' Mother Hubbard. He ain't got a lot of choices in a tight division race. The plan was for Koch not Botch. The bullpen is probably the toughest area for the manager when it goes bad. Mistakes trying to get something settled usually result in blown games under a magnifying glass. I have a hard time being too critical with his handling of the pen, but some of his blunders have been inexplicable. Is he the worst manager in the majors? Probably not but I certainly feel the team is playing better than he is managing. KC is the opposite, Pena is managing better then they are playing.
  18. One day when I was working in Mexico I was craving a MD but of course there wasn't any around. One of my co-workers suggested this weird looking redish drink. Man it was like letsdrink12cupsofcoffeeandstayawakeallnighttakingands*** that stuff was pure caffiene ahhh, much better.
  19. You have two options: 1. Spend the money, get it cut out by a Podiatrist 2. Do it yourself! Basically get a very sharp ex-acto knife and cut away. While you laugh at option 2 if you let this go many more days, at some point you will actually consider it. The pain gets to be very nasty.
  20. Queer Eye is my #1 favorite new comedy. I couldn't watch Boy Meets Boy very long, a little too much.

    No tie...

Not to declare him guilty or anything but in the back of my mind, when guys like Kobe or Tyson or even Hugh Grant gets in sex related trouble I wonder, couldn't he have walked into the bar and asked who wants to have sex with a rich, good looking, famous NBA player/actor/boxer? Hell if it works for Presidents I figure it has to work for other celebs.
  22. Mostly overlooked in our KC series was Pena's bringing in Sweeney as inspiration for his team. It smelled of a B movie story line when Sweeney showed up in the club house after hitting a home run the night before. He said he could play in a day or two. Now it's looking like next week sometime. I have to admire the Royals they are trying every little trick, smoke and mirrors to keep winning. I don't know if Pena could manage long ball and our line up but would love to see him get a chance. Think he would jump after we dump JM this November?
  23. LOL and crying. You are so right.
  24. I'll take Alomar every day for the rest of this season. Think Met fans are a little pissed he didn't play this hard for them?
