  1. Not saying that it was better then, but I do notice we have more ways of communicating and say less. Actually I see the under 25 crowd with more imagination and guts than the 35 to 60 crowd. We avoid conflict, smooth things over. The under 25 crowd will sow what they reap in another 15 years. Your stuck with what your parents started. As far as living lives to the fullest I think each generation has done better. I know I do more than my grandparents or parents and my kids are doing more than me. Education is definately better in a lot of ways. Each generation builds on the previous and the foundation that is being left to the current crop of 20 somethings is too polished, too phony. But in defense of my generation we didn't invent light beer, Zima, or wine coolers.
  2. lol. What was I thinking plus I was relying on a Bobby V. quote on baseball tonight me bad.
  3. Besides, Roman is what 16? He needs to grow as a person. He isnt gonna do that following or trying to make others happy. Every great lesson I have learned, is through a mistake of my own. I thought he was older. At 16 humans are so screwed up, especialy males. It is so easy to take a black and white view of the world and hate this or that. Then you get that job with a boss not like you or move into a house next door to someone not like you. After you get to know them you realize they are a lot like you.

    WTF?

I agree 100%. A pro knows how to pluck the batter. A beaning is dangerous and borderline criminal.
  5. Joe's too popular. Steinbrenner is stuck with him.
  6. Could be interesting, are you interesting in doing the work, or just the critisizing? me? or JUGGERNAUT? I wasn't criticizing. I love the PTC and if we have another game will probably jump in on that also. Not you Tex, sorry that's why I didn't include your post. I wasn't sure if I was seen as criticizing JUGGERNAUT for his idea. I didn't intend to. I also didn't take his comments as criticizing the PTC, just the team's efforts. It certainly is more exciting when you have to spend a minute or two with the box score to separate four or five players. I proposed a PTS as in pick to suck during one of my Sox really really suck phases. Who's going to have the most errors with game losing errors counting as double. How about bonus points on PTC? Only if the Sox lose.
  7. We can't hate anyone anymore. We sanitize the language. Worry about self esteem issues. We don't inflict our believes, opinions, or descriptions and accounts of the game on others. All very boring. I like speaking to people from different backgrounds, with different opinions, who make me think. Shallow comments without any substanance are generally a waste of time. I don't believe we are born to hate another group but it develops in our life. Perhaps through trauma, or a bad experience, or something as random as trying to get into a girls pants. (I professed to liking Barry Manilow music once just to get laid. Hey it was a nice concert)

    WTF?

In the case of the pitcher retaliating, it's more of a team thing in my mind. He's not throwing at the hitter to protect himself, but his teams batters when they come up.
  10. While I don't agree with Roman, I do appreciate his announcing to the world his views.

    Rock bottom

I wasnt fired. At least not yet? Oops sorry. Hope I didn't jinx you.

    WTF?

IMHO a pitcher getting suspended for retaliating is different than cheating. I player suspended for returning a punch when a batter charges the mound is different than cheating. A manager suspended for too rigourously (it does happen) arguing a wrong call is different than cheating. I can appreciate your black and white view of this and agree it makes the best policy. My guess is the player's union wouldn't go for it and MLB teams like the flexibility to help or screw thier players. How could Shamey survive without that $500,000?
  13. The Diary of Jawad Amer Sayed . He's lucky his family didn't have a twisted sense of humor. Imagine in another twenty years deciding the hell with it and coming out to learn "Saddam? He's been gone for 20 years! Didn't anyone tell you?"
  14. I believe it was either borderstar or jimmybw. At my age the memory is the second thing to go. I forgot the first.
  15. Texsox

    WTF?

Dibble also mentioned the 7 times he was suspended with the Reds they paid him every time. I agree with paying in a situation like Colon had for hitting a guy after his guys got plucked. But this was b.s. the guy was caught red handed cheating. Cork, the other way to cheat.
  16. We are on the road . . . They should be happy they aren't facing E-Lo!
  17. If we're playing for fun, make it more challenging. Pick the final score. Scoring 1 point for winner 3 points for guessing teams total -1 point for every run difference. Example Guess Sox win 7-5 Actual Sox win 6-2 1 point for guessing winner 2 pts for Sox ttl (3-1=2) 0 pts for Opp. ttl (3-3=0) 3 Points total Keep total points for season. Too complicated?

    WTF?

ESPN just reported that Shamey is getting paid during his suspension. Think they would do the same for a Trib reporter?
  19. s***, built in excuse for all the Cub fans. 2 of 3 would be very acceptable. 1 of 3 doable. 0 for 3 wouldn't surprise me. Right now they are playing better than we are. Of course I'm hoping for the sweep! My long distance bill we be huge.
  20. Yes, I'm still there, though a whole bunch of the 'good ones' are here now. I'll probaly do both, and try to cut down a bit, too! The only trolls we have here are Sox fans and that's just a matter of opinion and how it's stated. I knew to get away from mlb when I started sounding like a troll just to defend myself. As I recall you always were treated with respect and admiration
  21. lol Those gloves do look funny. I tried a 30's vintage glove on and it wasn't just the size that was weird but the padding. I couldn't imagine trying to field with one of those. It must have taken months to break one in. Thinking of Don Kessinger another factor is players are quicker than they use to be. They are getting to balls and committing errors on balls that would have gone as untouched hits. Perhaps it is the attempts that make it look like players are worse.

    WinningUgly....

Unfortunately not. I was a Tier II Account Research Supervisor for my mortgage company at the time, and had I been in my current position of Systems Analyst, I would have had the application the Quality Assurance manager has to listen to and score customer service calls. I could have saved the call on an AUD or WAV file then e-mailed it to whoever. The only thing we do have is the "Kenny Williams Sucks!" wav on ArneHarris' signature. That could have been the all time classic wav to pass around. BTW does anyone have Lee Elia's Cub fan rant as a aud or wav? That was Les Grobsteins greatest moment.
  23. Ncorgbl, Are you still spending some time over there? I couldn't handle the trolls. I couldn't tell the good guys from the bad. More fun here.
