  1. Which is fine. He's an upgrade. But how about a fresh face from outside the organization to start next year?
  2. I'll write off this year. Any replacement will be temporary and likely from within. I want to see someone from outside and not a bottom feeding organization.
  3. They also were never putting a team in Vegas. Never partnering with casinos. Never promoting gambling. How many fans want Pete Rose in the HoF?
  4. Never, or not in the next twenty years? I see a day where two players are trash talking and one plucks down $20,000 on his team and the other guy ups it to $30,000. All carefully orchestrated and allowed by MLB. In may be a couple decades away but that is the trajectory. It's what the fans want.
  5. Interleague killed the rivalry.
  6. Grab a fiddle, the devil will make you a deal.
  7. I'd be really interested to see how he does. My guess is he'd do well.
  8. Isn't that true of basically every manager and GM? Coming here is career suicide.
  9. https://www.mlb.com/news/birmingham-southern-walks-off-in-ncaas-after-school-shuts-down?partnerID=mlbapp-android_article-share Crazy Div 3
  10. Then there are all the fans who don't even know who he is.
  11. Imagine being that devoted to something you are so clearly bad at.
  12. His real estate investments will keep him comfortable.
  13. He could walk away easily and play with his real estate, his family, do almost anything. Yet, he stays around. People getting shot? Stays Horrible team? Stays Firing his old friends? Stays TLR "health problems"? Stays Billboards and signs telling him to sell? Stays. No championship possibility for years? Stays How horrible is the rest of his life to keep doing this? I wonder if 2005 never happened if he would have been gone a decade ago. However MLB got Angel to retire, could they do the same for JR? It's for the good of the game.
  14. But it would take someone a year to understand the organization . . . Lol The best hope is JR somehow loses interest in the organization and turns over the chairmanship to someone, anyone else. Hire a had of baseball operations from outside the organization and empty the offices. Move the offices, get rid of all the old stuff and move on. Then allow them to hire a manager.
  15. That's the scary part. Even when he makes the right decision in moving on from someone the replacement is never an improvement.
  16. Which isn't a bad thing. In fact, I think it's a great thing. I'm assuming you would do what I would do if Tony recommended someone, immediately remove them from my list of candidates. Having a say isn't necessarily bad, it's what anyone does with that information that is potentially bad.
  17. @WhiteSox2023I believe called it that. I think at a minimum JR has some behavior and reaction patterns, most of them bad.
  18. Great point. I wonder if they also graphed, (probably on paper), losses and fan engagement trying to determine a sweet spot. Can we find enough warm bodies capable of 65 to 70 wins? That has to look easy.
  19. We're an analog organization in a digital world. In most other industries they would have been bought out and modernized or faced bankruptcy. But with a monopoly they can survive. Good, even great, people might be there. But when you're in a system that is so antiquated and behind the times, it's impossible to be successful on a consistent basis. This gets perpetuated when they continue to hire people who fit into this 20th Century mold. It's why I believe continuing to replace parts isn't the answer. We need an entire new organization with modern influences.
  20. That's a deliberate misunderstanding of what I'm saying. I think a true cleaning of the house is required. Getz, Pedro, scouting, training, analytics. Don't you? The team can do any one or two of those things and it won't be enough. Do you disagree with that? This started with me agreeing with @WhiteSox2023 that Pedro will be the fall guy and JR will try to sell us on another instant cure. Again, that's been his strategy for decades.
  21. I agree. And if it gets some fans excited even better. They will still lose 100 games, they will still not have enough talent in the system to compete anytime soon. They will still be injury prone. They will still have a stubborn owner that values loyalty over wins. They will still be skipped over by premier free agents. They will still have a revolving door of coaches and managers with no clear plan for player development. I'm not saying it doesn't need to be done, I'm saying it's not going to get me to watch more games, attend any games, etc. I'm not going to fall for another facelift to think this changes much of anything in isolation.
  22. We are also so far beyond putting another bandaid on it. To me it's like the car is totaled and were thinking a new hood ornament will make a difference. He's just another symptom of a much bigger organizational problem. If it makes some fans happy, fire away, but it isn't going to move the needle much for me. Especially when he stays in house or brings in another person from an organization like KC.
