Isn't he exactly a grow with the team hire? He obviously needs to grow. Any already accomplished manager would laugh if the Sox called.

Name any brilliant strategy a manager might try and the talent on this team will cause it to fail.

To me firing him would be a silly PR move to try and convince fans the team is better than they are. We know that's crap. They are a 110 loss talent team. He ain't hurting anyone, they do that in their own.

What would the greatest manager of all time be with this lineup? 49 under? You can't win the Kentucky Derby with a plow horse.

I see one possible scenario of a three game win steak If a team comes to town really slumping, and the Sox won the previous series final game, they could win the first two in a series before getting blown out 23-0 in the next game. They have Miami on the road so a three win is unlikely. Here's the spot. On 7/14 they win the final two against Pittsburgh then they rest during the all star break and come back and win one against KC in KC.

He cares enough to tie up a multigenerational fortune in the team. I honestly believe he does care but isn't very good at knowing when to change directions. He's also loyal to the point that it has cost the team wins. I'll agree with all of the other criticism of the man. He's stubborn, cheap at times, etc but I do believe he cares. Which actually makes this all the worst.

I wish he would have revealed where he thought the knife might be.

I remember watching the slow speed chase on the ER waiting room TV at Highland Park Hospital. I was picking up my wife after her shift and instead of hanging out in the back I stayed by the TV. Crazy moment.

I agree they will be out, but you don't get to this point by giving up that easily. I think we get fooled by the emotional outward signs. Sports psychologist generally try to move players away from the emotional outbursts of throwing helmets, punching walls, etc that we were conditioned to believe were signs of players trying. Instead we should see steady, focused, one pitch at a time, non emotional, playing. They may not be very skilled players, and many will be out of the league soon, but my guess is it will be their ability not lack of trying, ending their career. That lack of ability, physically and mentally, will sometimes be seen as a lack of trying when they hesitate, slow down, etc. I am seeing inept, old, less skilled players out there, but so far I'm seeing trying. But it's the Sox, they could decide they want to quiet quit and end their careers.
