  1. Per SI https://www.si.com/fannation/mlb/fastball/news/chicago-white-sox-make-several-coaching-staff-changes-ahead-of-2024-season#:~:text=Hitting coach Jose Castro and, will be reassigned%2C sources said.
  2. Boston out of lives, Katz has eight more it seems.
  3. On a practical note, you are correct. But to be accurate . . . A person doesn't press charges. They can refuse to testify. They can not report the crime. But only prosecutors have the legal authority to actually press charges and bring someone to trial. Imagine two gang members shooting at each other. Neither one "presses charges" so they can't be prosecuted? That isn't in the public's interest. There is only one state that recognizes mutual combat. Someone can ask you to assault them, they can write a nice note, etc but it is still illegal in all but one state. Again, most prosecutors would refuse to bring a case to trial if the victim refuses to cooperate. Especially if the victim hasn't also committed a crime. Which is a weird way to come back to the shooting. If the victim isn't cooperating why would police put any effort in?
  4. You can legally bet on baseball, but baseball can ban you. You can legally appear in a porn movie, but baseball can ban you. There are legal supplements that you can take but baseball can ban you. You can scream all the racists crap you want, but baseball can ban you. This isn't about him doing something illegal. This is about decent people boycotting a product if they employ someone like him. If you own a company you don't have to continue to employ someone who you believe is bad for your business
  5. Plus it doesn't have to be illegal for an employer to take action.
  6. Bottom line in America companies are free to hire anyone they want, and with a few exceptions, can not hire anyone they want. After this became public besides MLB teams there are thousands of other companies that aren't offering him work. He couldn't get elected to office. He couldn't get work as a college coach. The reason he earned millions each year is he produced many times that in revenue for the owners. Now that he can't produce that revenue for the owners he's not worth the money. It's not about his ability to pitch, is about his ability to sell tickets. Let this be a lesson for all the youngsters out there. Choking someone until they pass out is career suicide in most industries. Maybe he could try porn.
  7. I was tricked into violating MLB standards. It's not my fault. I'm certain not everyone here would almost kill someone because they wanted to be almost killed.
  8. Are we still paying Leury? We finally have team he'd earn a roster spot on.
  9. This was so much more fun when they didn't include the rest of Europe.
  10. I believe this is the third or fourth rebuild of the 2005 team. Why rebuild any other version? It's a fork in the road for many Sox fans. Some left and started down a different path. Some are die hards and will stay through everything no matter what. Some are questioning why? I want to get back to enjoying baseball. This team sucked so much baseball out of me I didn't go to any games at any level. I've enjoyed watching some really bad teams through the years. Ignorance was bliss. This spring I'm going to be at as many if my high school games as possible. We aren't going to fix this. Not fix as in putting a new battery in and the car starts. I'm going to try to be happy with some improvements. Look for the positive while ignoring all the negative I can. Meanwhile go Rangers
  11. Then we about due for another World Series win.
  12. The phrase originated in Chicago in the 1930s. It was popularized by Moran, Capone, and that era. I read an interesting history of the phrase in grad school.
  13. Lol There are people who were shot while being robbed, car jacked, or murdered. I think the resources should go towards solving those crimes before this. But because there are folks wanting to make the Sox look at bad as possible, this keeps coming up.
  14. I thought one theory was the victim accidentally shot themselves which is why they aren't making a big deal about it. They don't need to solve this to do the right thing. Tighter checks at the entrance. Better training. Clear protocols either from the league, the city, or the team. It it was from outside the stadium ban all guns in the city.
  15. Victims don't seem to care. If this happened anywhere else in the city no one cares. Seems like a waste of resources that could be used to solve murders, car theft, rapes, muggings . . . Accidental discharge usually results in a ticket and fine without any other mitigating factors.
  16. Long 36 holes day yesterday, back for 18 today. Great field. The defending team champions of three of the Texas six high school divisions are here. Lots of under par rounds. My top two are at 153 and 154 which is about 20th place of 100+ girls. Both can play better. My #1 just win a junior tour event last week. My assistant couldn't attend so I'm doing double duty. Exhausted.
  17. Currently the executive team is playing rock-paper-scissors to decide who tells JR this is one of those times that the bigger number is bad and lower number is good -- like free agent contacts.
  18. Move on. The further and faster we get away from 2023 the better.
  19. I wonder what Fields did to deserve this? He gets drafted by most other teams and he's probably a mid level QB by now. But he falls into this QB hell hole of a franchise. I honestly feel bad for some of these athletes.
