  1. Or drop to one team in a market where possible. If you are going to contact why drop a market?

    dump bloom campaign

We're 2-2 in getting GMs dumped.
  3. It would be great for a manager to just tell everyone "this guy just isn't a MLB level player. We should cut him but we just don't have anyone else." Or "I cringe anytime I have to go to the bullpen. Has there ever been a worse collection of arms?" How about a spring training press conference "We're not going to win 70 games this year. This franchise is a joke." It's exactly what we need to fire up the players and revitalize the fan base.
  4. Texas looked vulnerable for three quarters. It seemed more like players waking up than any adjustments the coaches made.
  5. The team is profitable so I wouldn't say those contracts were bad. They can easily continue to pay these salaries. During the strike most everyone was arguing for lower profits and higher player salaries. The bigger issue is every year there are only a couple low risk free agents. The rest carry varrying and increasing levels of risk based on age, injury, or intangibles.
  6. The only problem with smoking a brisket is I just can't pop open the *first* beer at 4:00 am when I get the fire going.
  7. @South Side Hit Menyet how often do we read stop playing that over the hill vet and bring up the AAA kid? I'd rather see big energy or the legend instead of rushing guys up
  8. WOW 26 men from around the world, in ages from their early 20s to late 30s, some married, some with kids, some single, some dating with wife and kids, don't hang together all the time. SHOCKING!!
  9. I have family and friends with Astros season tickets but the Rangers, and their history of futility, seem to draw me in.
  10. I was hoping this was a discussion about Eastern versus Western philosophy. Perhaps debating the merits of submission versus resistance. Instead it's about another suit in a long, but not crowded, lineup of suits trying to keep their jobs in baseball. So he has a philosophy. Nice. It reminds me of this song https://youtu.be/xz6OGVCdov8?si=goNy5kucZaxTu_hW
  11. I think we wanted Hahn's head for letting him go.

  13. @nrockway that's an interesting twist I hadn't thought of, the benefit over control of the area versus private control.
  14. This will make sense to @Balta1701 but in a similar plan the most successful Texas grocery chain makes a lot of money by only opening stores where they control surrounding real estate. Their real estate holding generate almost as much as their grocery business in renting space. But the difference is they are literally generating traffic 24/7 not just on game days.
  15. I'm just not buying the economic impact argument anymore. It reminds me of a coworker back in Chicago. One of the Bears players was at a bar we were at (Snuggery) and everyone was tripping over themselves buying him drinks. Spro looked over and said f*** him he can buy his own drink, he's rich. It made a lot of sense.
  16. The reason that teams receive tax breaks is economic development of the area or region. So based on your thinking, which I likely true, why give tax breaks to fund a stadium? Yet it happens over and over again across the country. When JR holds Chicago hostage with an offer from somewhere else, will the politicians give in again or look at this mess and say no?
  17. One that when teams want government breaks because of the economic benefits we remember the downside. Double whammy when they aren't paying some taxes and area employees aren't working. Maybe set an economic benefit threshold.
  18. Looking at the traffic here it is easy to see the number of Sox fans who are virtually avoiding this train wreck. How about the folks at and around the stadium who lose out when Sox fans avoid this train wreck in real life? I feel bad when hard times happen to innocent people. Sure a couple millionaires lost jobs, and I'm certain that caused some stress for their families, but folks working hard to keep that first roof over their heads and meals on the table are more of a concern.
  19. Maybe it's just Sox managers that aren't given another look. So where will Hahn land?
  20. I think he could have grabbed a similar role in a better organization and slowly moved up. He wouldn't have gotten a top spot leaving the Sox
  21. At least he'll get more innings as a middle reliever. It's the only way he'd see the 4th inning on a regular basis.
