  1. If fans didn't show up to watch a Hall of Fame manager. I don't even think they have to do everything right. Just not making things worse will get back some fans. Doing some things right will get a lot more. Everything right would be a twice in a lifetime occurrence.
  2. I'm not going to call it a failure before they start.
  3. 100% agree. There are so many player holes to deal with, scouting, etc that the manager thing can wait. Plus this was such a trainwreck before he got here I don't mind giving him a second year.
  4. Thank you. Always looking for ways to dislike this franchise. I was actually thinking things would be better for a few hours.
  5. The new owners would want to bring in their people. Which could make hiring someone from the outside harder if they thought a sale was imminent.
  6. Need a Hall of Fame involved. I like the choice.
  7. Hopefully the procedure went well. If it's the one I'm thinking that's the longest night ever.
  8. I just walked into my home office and saw I had an announcement on my Alexa. I expected to hear the game was starting. I actually needed Alexa to repeat the news because I didn't quite hear it clearly. Then I had it repeat a couple more times because it made me all happy.
  9. 2021 he was on the top of the world. Once the Sox cruised to the division title (will anyone show up?) He was a shoo in for exec of the year. Reality was Injuries, poor managing, exposed problems and a three season slide to hell. Earlier he was a rising star within baseball who we wanted unblocked by Kenny before he left for a better franchise. It wasn't all bad but the bad that was is the most soul crushing bad that can't be ignored.
  10. I'm hoping for someone that thinks of their people as about 100 players, not just a manager. Lots to do, plenty of time to decide on a manager.
  11. I discovered I have some give a fucks left for this season! Let's play some baseball.
  12. I agree. In house could have been accomplished by a couple title swaps. I don't think JR is as ignorant as some may believe. He knew there was a problem. It's obvious. He waited until after the trade deadline which makes sense. September is a good time to start a search and see which candidates become available. The cynical side of me links this announcement and stadium talk. But I'm as easy as any other die hard fan. I'm all in on a new front office.
  13. Agreed. But not only because they would want to hire a manager. It's 100+ years of bad baseball operations. And just looking through some recent hires, not many were in positions to hire a manager their first season.
  14. Dikta came in and was forced a Defensive Coordinator. The next GM should have at least five years to show results. That's beyond Pedro's contract. I think there is a good chance a good hire would take the position. Much better than zero chance.
  15. I'm also interested to see if any of JR's family gets involved. That will signal what direction any succession may take. Or could JR be increasing perceived value for a possible sale?
  16. I never want to cheer someone losing their income but I am cheering a new direction for Sox baseball. I would like to hear that JR has put together a search committee similar to what the Bears did. I wouldn't mind seeing someone from inside the organization but have two or three more from outside.
  17. I think it would be dumb to move the team, but I will not underestimate JR and MLB doing something dumb. The logic could be we have a team in that market, we don't have one in that other market, we are adding another market, it's a win. While many fans will only watch MLB baseball if there is a Sox team in Chicago, MLB won't lose that many. And before someone jumps on it, I believe indifference is what will get JR's attention. Fans so invested in the team that they will rent billboards and go to games just confirms he can crap on us and we'll be back.
  18. Trying to be optimistic while dealing in JR's reality. I'm wondering what Hahn has to do, or not do, to get fired. It seems like he's bulletproof. If he truly has a lifetime appointment, at best he gets promoted after Kenny retires and his replacement gets lucky. Meanwhile, he did build a roster that was the favorite to crush the division just two years ago. He could do that again.
  19. Then buy him a new stadium and enjoy White Sox baseball just like it has been for decades.
