  1. When I was attending thirty to forty games a year in the 80s and 90s just having a competitive team and seeing a good game was enough. Dropping the payroll and playing guys who should be in AAA developing (tanking) would have been horrible. Not good games and not competitive. Once I moved things changed a bit. Then the five to ten games I attended didn't have to be great, I enjoyed being back. Now being a fan who did not attending any games this year and could easily not attend any next year, I don't care. If that's the fastest route to a multiple championship window, go ahead. I truly feel sorry for those who can and do attend games.
  2. I see two options and four outcomes for next year: Trying to win and actually winning ? Trying to win and losing Trying to lose and winning Trying to lose and losing Only the last one are they proven to be capable of. But knowing this franchise they will surprise me and pick something like not having any plan and just treading water.
  3. Perhaps five years ago I would have agreed. If that kid is his, and the mother is underage, we won't see him in the US again.
  4. I read the thread title and ? the Sox have a star player? Really.
  5. I'm so sick of hearing about his loyalty. There are so many players he sent packing instead of having them finish their careers here. He's screwed over the fans that have made him rich. He forced a strike when the team had it's best chance in decades to compete. Locked out players and held the strongest line. Mark, Frank, Jose, Carlton . . . He's loyal to cheap deals, and lap dog executives that won't question him. It's not the kind of loyalty anyone should admire.
  6. It will be great. We've hit bottom, now it's time to rebuild. New faces, new stories. It's a return to 2017 when we had a highly rated farm system. This front office did it once, they can do it again.
  7. https://www.wishtv.com/news/national/texas-high-school-gets-new-10000-seat-35-million-football-stadium/ 10,000 seats - 1,300 students
  8. Guys are losing and fighting with each other. Would we be happier if they were losing while being happy and enjoying themselves? Maybe they should be pissed off and hard to be around.
  9. They swapped the #1 farm system for a consensus favorite to win the division a couple years later. The process seems solid, the execution was bad.
  10. You want to talk about what's happening in the field instead? That's how bad it is right now. Lol
  11. If I was a Jedi there is a 100% chance I would use the force inappropriately.
  12. Although, what parent would leave their kids in the care of an organization they hated so much? Seems odd. You guys suck, you have no rules. Watch my kids for me.
  13. Are you thinking this is during the day or just during games? I can't believe many player's with spouses are working a job and needing day care from the team. It seems like it's to make it easier for the spouses to attend games.
  14. Two other scenarios. Day care could be required by the CBA. It would be defined exactly how it would work. The Sox are voluntarily doing this. Then they get to set the rules.
  15. You can hire and build facilities for you employees fairly easily. Now hire and build facilities for guests who may, or may not, need those services. I agree, it is possible. Consider this, the Yankees are on a road trip, this is just one stop. What are they doing the rest of the time? Why would the league offer day care in former team stadiums but not others?
  16. Even better, the guy that complains that there were no rules now complains that there are rules and he has to follow them?! ?
  17. So they are leaving the kids in Chicago while he's playing in New York? That doesn't make sense. So he's now a visiting player and wants to have the same benefits as Sox players? I bet the Yankees allowed him to immediately use their day care. It's an employee benefit. He's not an employee. If they can show examples of other visiting players being allowed to, then I'll join the chorus of boos. But for following the established rules? I'm not going to criticize my team. The guy rips the organization on the way out the door then two weeks later "hey I know the rules but could you do me a favor and break them for me?"
  18. In retrospect he should have gotten out of Dodge and had a better career. Like most every other failure in the organization (managers, players, front office) he was once a promising talent.
  19. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-pipeline-2023-midseason-system-rankings?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage&partnerId=zh-20230816-1003656-mlb-1-A&qid=1026&utm_id=zh-20230816-1003656-mlb-1-A&bt_ee=e0Y37EmAYXcmo1Y9o36HANpSLYQ6%2BGqU2AmM%2F0m5%2FMhOHa%2FAoHR6fmYrIKQus2re&bt_ts=1692189925553 Currently 20th, top of the bottom third from bottom of the bottom. One quote I found interesting because I forgot how good we once were. He's been fooling people for a very long time.
  20. If you are wondering how me managed 7 seasons and why he stayed https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/35206047/record-setting-utsa-qb-frank-harris-return-7th-season
  21. Kind of a cool story. The guy is entering his 7th season quarterbacking UTSA https://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/article/frank-harris-espn-18296756.php
  22. Another day, another embarrassing moment for Hahn. I can't wait for tomorrow's edition.
  23. He fooled most of the baseball world a couple years ago. Thankfully he gets exposed every day here as the fraud he is.
