  1. Oakland ripped the team away from Kansas City who ripped it from Philly. If history follows there will be a new franchise in Oakland. Thinking about stadium profits, if we agree that Jerry values profits over anything else, and was assume he's a decent real estate guy, perhaps owning a stadium isn't a huge money maker. If it was a money maker, then we would want our municipality to build a stadium, make all that money, and lower our taxes.
  2. They succeeded. Whoa whoa whoa they PLANNED something and it worked? /Faints
  3. https://www.mlb.com/news/every-baseball-uniform-number-ever-ranked-by-value Because why not? Trivia I didn't know, Verlander wore 35 because of Frank.
  4. The final Sox thing to have happen this year it's for one of our players of the future to suffer an injury that takes well into next season to heal. Bonus points of it's something really silly like celebrating.
  5. It's getting to the end of the season. The person wants a long break and trying to get fired to collect unemployment. Instead becomes a minor celebrity and now has to work harder. It's practically a Seinfeld episode.
  6. Ironically, with the state of the team, the correct troll profile is anyone even slightly positive about anything with this organization.
  7. And perhaps the inverse is also true. You can't be a Sox fan and give a f***.
  8. This is such an important part of their marketing and connecting with fans I hope they promote that guy and give him a raise.
  9. Another box from Acme. JR is determined to catch that roadrunner. If we didn't have fifty years of things turning to s%*# I'd be encouraged by this.
  10. The past couple years were the first that I didn't plan my Chicago trips until after consulting the schedule. It's also the first time in decades no one in my family has full season tickets.
  11. If this organization had a history of actually developing players instead of ruining them I could believe that they analyzed the players, set certain milestones in development, all to avoid rushing the player into the majors before they were ready and hurting their development. But we know that's not us. So once again they did the exact wrong thing. I think we can assume the guys were ready and we lost an opportunity to get these guys experience during a throw away year.
  12. He finished the line silently to himself . . . "fifty games a year"
  13. The most ironic moment of the past few years, Liam came to the Sox, in part, to play for TLR. So there are some outliers. Why would others? Other organizations frown on domestic violence. You haven't played in the US for a few seasons. Any stats from this century prove you aren't very good.
  14. . . . like they should be 😂 I also expect him to talk up the players on the roster, speak of the future, etc.. We know it's fake, but it's good practice. Way better than "hey this roster sucks and if we win 45 I should be manager of the year". The manager we want won't take the job, and we won't like anyone that will take the job.
  15. I'm not thinking changing livelihood, how about changing teams? I believe many of us here have switched companies while staying in the same industry. It could be that baseball is harder to do that in. You get on with one team and are stuck there until they fire you.
  16. Obviously other things are more important as I mentioned. But as you noted, it's either luck or toxic environment. I lean towards toxic environment. The likelihood of someone bringing a toxic environment vibe with them seems more likely from someone coming from a losing environment. Again, plenty of other factors to consider. But keep bringing in everyone from managers to players from losing organizations doesn't seem to be working.
  17. Would you say "expecting to lose" is a toxic environment? While I don't value it over most other stats, it seems like winning is a cultural thing and players coming from winning programs bring "luck".
  18. And there's sending out your resume and finding another job before that happens. In most industries it's easier to get a job when you have a job. Maybe baseball is different?
  19. I don't believe anyone thought he was *the* problem. He was *a* problem and easy enough to remove.
  20. It didn't work out for the team. It didn't work out for him. Best of luck in the future. Perhaps the Savannah Bananas need a manager for the visitors?
  21. Perhaps for some fans. I think many of the million plus that will go to games just want some entertainment value for their money. They aren't really as invested in the past or the future as are folks here.
