  1. A new owner would look at what the current ownership was able to accomplish with their investment fielding a shitty fourth place team year after year and do the same. Sox fans are so easy to convince it will get better. It never does, but we'll argue forever it will.
  2. True. So is it the loyal fan base or national media attention they have in Chicago that will keep them here?
  3. That's what they said in Brooklyn.
  4. Cub fans are the same folks who sit next to us at Bears, Hawks, and Bulls games. Growing up our youth baseball league always went to a Cub game. I always said the battle is for the casual fan who decides to go to a baseball game or two each year. They will decide based on date, whose going better, dinner options, whatever. Both teams have their hard core fans.
  5. I'll agree that it's stupid to manage this team. It's a career killer. But if you love baseball, being "the guy" is tempting. Do you want to talk about playing or actual play? Do you want to talk about managing or do actually manage? I don't know if it applies to AJ but with so many guys in every sport jumping from the booth it seems like there is a draw.
  6. Owner? No, we want him to sell Front Office? No, we want them fired Manager? No, we want him gone Players? No, most suck with a don't care attitude. Uniforms? I guess so.
  7. Hahn wanted too much so she went to her buddy. Or Hey Ken, you know her better and I think you can get us more. Do you mind taking lead on this? We could play good cop - bad cop on her. So many ways this could have happened.
  8. JR would ? agree with you. He never should have let Tony go the first time. Notice most of these stiffs were out of baseball quickly after leaving the Sox. Another fact to show how shitty this franchise is.
  9. Sandy Alomar has been my hope in the former player turned manager move but AJ seems destined. Or Steve Stone. He's old enough and kisses the chairman's ring.
  10. Would bringing back Tony and Leury be too obvious?
  11. But he could come back as an "ambassador". If Ozzie can be forgiven, anyone can.
  12. Stone is an entertainer who benefits from higher ratings. I'm trying to remember a TV actor or whatever telling people to not watch their program because it sucks.
  13. The buyout is cheaper. Using 2033 money without interest to cover 2024 debt is nice. The only situation where I could see them taking the one year hit is the payroll will be low with all the young talent getting trotted out there.
  14. Steve said Pedro needs a chance. He pointedly did not call him out this week.
  15. It wasn't that long ago when things looked so bright. From an article on Renteria being fired The White Sox's big offseason moves helped to cement their transition from rebuilder to a contender this year. This past offseason, the club brought in Yasmani Grandal, Dallas Keuchel, Edwin Encarnacion and Gio Gonzalez. Chicago also signed veteran first baseman Jose Abreu -- who had an MVP-worthy 2020 campaign -- to a three-year extension. Their free agent spending spree this offseason was paired nicely with the club's large pool of talented young players, like Tim Anderson, Luis Robert and Eloy Jimenez. We should have started a Hahn appreciation thread.
  16. That would be a huge departure from the organization's usual procedures. Ozzie had to quiet quit and Tony had a health issue to be allowed off of this sinking ship. Pedro will, like almost every WS manager before him, will work every day of his contract. In 2026 they will announce he isn't being offered a contract extension and some random former player will take his place.
  17. Now that the science guys chimed in the language guy has a turn. Return to what? Return to the (a) team? Perhaps to start the early stages of rehab. Return to hang up a couple shirts in a AAA locker room? Return to attempting to get outs against MLB hitters? This could be simply a misunderstanding of the language being used.
  18. Liam seems like a guy that fought to not pitch. I'm certain he wanted to hang out, rehab, and not play. I'm certain he kept telling everyone he wasn't ready.

    This and Disco Demolition.
  20. True, but most everyone remembers Phil. I think Pedro will have a good season or two.

If I'm in Dallas for a Sox game I'll buy a couple beers for the Ranger fans around me. In Houston I have in laws and friends who I have gone with to be the buffer.

The few times I've been in that spot I by drinks for a couple people sitting near me. I also make it a point to applaud good baseball even if it's against us.

In fairness I've seen Sox fans give that same treatment to visiting fans. But I'd be pissed also. You are a brave guy to go in there decked out. I think the Minny rivalry is bigger because we seem more similar to Minny than Cleveland. Plus the football rivalry as well.
  24. Rush up a few guys, crush their hopes and dreams, and confirm we're at rock bottom. I'd put Grandahl behind the plate every game until he begs to be released. Let the AAA guys actual have some success before tossing them into the deep end on a poorly coached, bottom of the league, team.
