  1. You want to keep bad teams around as long as possible. As a Sox that makes sense. I want bad teams out sooner so the good teams can start playing each other. The shorter the regular season, the more meaningful each game is. Lose one game out of 162 is much different than losing one game out of three, four or seven. We can call it eliminating them from some of the regular season if you prefer.
  2. It could also increase tanking depending on how the finances are distributed. Not much different than now if TV and other money is equally distributed. Profits could be greater for a second division team with a low payroll. V The AAA to MLB sounded good until I realized a franchise could have two teams in MLB and another franchise none.
  3. How about this is. (Which could never happen logistically). After 80 games divide into two divisions a 16 team loser division and a 14 team winner division. They each play an additional 80 game regular season with a four team upper division playoff. No playoffs for the losers.
  4. Once you have more than one team in the playoffs you have an "unworthy" team. The only question is how many unworthy teams you want in. To me at some point in the season you stop to eliminate some bad teams and allow better teams to continue. We typically call that playoffs. At that point the league is more interesting. I'm in favor of any plan that cuts the crappy teams early. That means a shorter regular season and more playoffs. Keeping bad teams around longer doesn't make the games more meaningful.
  5. True. Here's a sad thought. You're assuming the Sox will ever go up to even be in the position to be relegated.
  6. Once you give up trying to compete it's all fun.
  7. A odd number league doesn't work unless you don't mind one team not playing for three or four days straight. But that's a minor issue. Your plan works also.
  8. Trademark that. You'll be using it for years with this organization.
  9. I gotta agree. I think there is a lot to be said for a 16 team premier league and expansion for a 16 team loser league. Twelve teams go into the playoffs bottom four swap with the four best from the worst.
  10. Soxtalk rule #27 If you like the move, you credit your favorite front office person. If you dislike the move, you blame the front office guy you dislike the most.
  11. All true. This could be kind of reminiscent of the Comiskey family fighting after Charles died.
  12. It's probably unfair and inaccurate to judge someone on their best, or worst, day. But for me, it takes a lot of really good days to make up for the Beach scandal.
  13. We can't blame this on cheap labor. The team consistently underperforms their payroll. They are constantly behind the times. They were one of them last teams to employ a full time analytics guy then eliminated the position. It's actually mind boggling how inefficient and incompetent they are. Plus, just bad luck. Even when they take a safe pick like Madrigal it doesn't work out. They should trademark snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Random distribution would have every team winning a world series once every thirty years. If I thought I'd live another fifteen years I'd bet against them even appearing in a WS.
  14. Imagine if players could play regardless of the owner or GM. I know it's crazy. Executives have so much influence with on field performance. Lol this is a new low for you. Once you step on the field play the game. You probably blame Comiskey on the Black Sox scandal.
  15. It's so maddening. The answers are so easy. Why are we the only franchise that isn't successful at running a MLB team?
  16. How many losses do you think he caused by hurting their feelings? Is Timmy an all star of if Lynn blew him kisses? Quit making excuses for these guys sucking. Oh it's not them it's Tony. It's not them it's JR. It's this or that. No. It's on them. If they can't handle Lynn no wonder they s%*# their pants when they play the Twins. Those guys in Minny are mean to them. The Guardian hurt their feelings.
  17. What a bunch of whiny, self entitled, babies if Lynn caused them to be under .500 These guys couldn't handle a regular job if this affects them so much. No wonder this franchise sucks. They hire children.
  18. Yet here you are. I can't disagree with your assessment of how JR feels, I've never spent any time with him and don't presume to know how he feels. So you hate the owner, the owner hates you. It's a beautiful world. I believe he and his partners have benefit more from this mutual hate than you have. Go Sox
  19. Whoa, read all my posts. There are plenty of reasons for fans to want a change. So many in fact you don't have to make things up or distort the actual record to want him gone.
  20. Charles did it in the AL one hundred years ago. He also owned the team that was the biggest scandal in baseball history. Imagine if JR was the owner back then. The Veeck/Allen years were as mediocre as any other era. The franchise has sucked no matter the owner. It wasn't like JR bought a great franchise and it got worst. It's as good or bad as it ever was.
  21. The easiest way to build a successful track record as an analyst is to claim every Sox trade is a disaster. Trying to figure out the one on fifteen that actually works out for the Sox is the real test.
  22. I had the opportunity yesterday to listen to a successful D1 college head football coach talk about how they built their brand on integrity and respect. He's local and two of my former students are playing for him. I can't imagine a scandal like this in his program. I can't imagine my former students acting in that manner. I'd be crushed to learn that. I have great empathy for Northwestern supporters who have to deal with this. He also touched on when these problems happen it hurts all programs. It's always bigger than the school.
  23. Actually he's not under .500 and even more surprisingly teams have averaged higher in the standings than any other time since Charles moved the team to Chicago. https://chicagology.com/baseball/soxowners/ He's just another care taker of a historically horrible franchise not much better or worse than the rest of them. As others have noted the are plenty of reasons to want him to sell. Plenty of things he's done that aren't popular with most fans. In fact it seems there is enough to not have to distort or make up stuff to want him gone. But all time won loss stats are meaningless when the only comparison is from the turn of the 20th century versus turn of the 21st century.
  24. Is he well under .500
  25. All these pitchers leaving and no team wants their favorite catcher?? Damn it
