Not to encourage rule-breaking, but you can walk from pod to pod without much trouble if you need to. I know because my kids and I walked around a lot on Saturday night and only later learned that these restrictions existed. Nobody checked our tickets. I don’t think you’re really pushing back because it’s not inconsistent with what I wrote—the point is just that his performance is irrelevant to whether he’s in the rotation right now. He can’t be, and it’s because he’d blow through his innings too quickly. Anyway, I don’t disagree that he’s been impressive.

I’m going to post in solidarity because I agree with you, and should be in here posting when I’m excited. This team is still stacked and now starting to play up to its potential. But there’s still so much room for growth. There are so many potential sources of momentum. So many compelling storylines. It’s a team to dream on. I’m likewise fascinated by those who seem so energized by the occasional failures — and capable of meeting them with such creatively venomous negativity and absurd worst-case projections — yet somehow unable to flip the script when the team turns in a positive effort. Oh well, guess it’s not all that unusual, and serves as its own little meta-narrative in what I hope will be the most memorable Sox season in a long time. Let’s not let up for the tiggers and roll to a nice win streak!

I’m genuinely confused by all this discussion of Kopech forcing his way into the rotation with good play. I never thought the thing keeping him out of the rotation was concern about his qualification to be there. Just innings limits. Those will remain regardless of how much ass he kicks, right?
