  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) Yeah, that sounds really classy. Mocking a guy because his wife cheated on him. I can't wait to yell things at Mariano Rivera about his nephew getting electrocuted. Well what can I say, I guess Im a classy guy. Who knew?
  2. QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Nov 23, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) The problem is identifying and then drafting the quality players. It is one thing to have the picks, it is another to get good value from them. No doubt. One of the problems for the sox has been drafting quality pitching. I will say that Broadway looks like he could be a solid 4 or 5 pitcher for us and who knows he could do better.
  3. QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) ESPN is reporting that the Marlins are shopping those two right now Oh, I havent heard that. Well that could be a scenerio. Could be used as part of a three-way too.
  4. QUOTE(ptatc @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) JR will not sign a pitcher for more than 4-5 years. And I highly doubt he will do it for 5. This is why the trade for one of starting pitchers is important. You have a few established veterans and slide in a young pitcher each year and keep the rotation going. You trade for some veterans who only have a few years left on thier deal ie Vazquez. This will build a good pitching staff. I think this is the reason the recent drafts have focused on safe picks. They may not be studs but you have a much better chance of having that cheap pitcher in the rotation on a consistent basis. Whether this philosophy will be good enough to wins another WS (I still love saying another not if we can win one) remians to be seen. The White Sox will always operate on a budget so the thoery seems sound to me. Your exactly right. Thats what Detroit has been doing the last few years. Get quality draft picks and get good players in return through trades. Oh yeah, lets not forget about Beane in Oakland too.
  5. QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) Sounds good to me The only prob. is that from what ive heard Florida is high on Petit but Im sure they would like to have Fields so who knows. On second thought we might need Fields, oh s***!
  6. QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) Verlander and Bonderman dropped by as well Oh yeah Zumaya said sorry he couldnt make it hes hangin w/ Rodney right now. I think those are some good reasons.
  7. QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) BA to the Marlins for Petit and Mitre. Mitre, BMac and Fields to the Rays for Crawford. I like the idea accept we keep BMc and send petit packing. Petit's #s dont look too impressive, in fact pund for pound Broadway had better #s.
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) Johan Santana says hi. Yes, so does C.C. and Liriano said "I be back"
  9. How about Tavares from Houston? I know his #s arent the best but hes only 25 and should get better. This is only if you cant get a guy like Crawford.
  10. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 04:05 PM) I disagree...he was able to get Crawford for Vazquez and Fields. That's a great trade. I'm surprised he was able to talk the DRays into that one. That will NEVER happen. We are talking about the D-Rays here. One of the lowest payroles in the league and will not take on a salarie like Javy"s. They have already said they want more than just pitching prospects, they want a young pitcher(s) who can start for them in 07. Thats why we keep hearing about BMc as possible trad-bait. If the D-Rays would take Javy/ Fields for Crawford I will buy them first class tickets on the flight out of Chicago and as an added bonus some hookers for the long flight to Tampa. In other word I totaly agre with you hitless.
  11. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) I think they were divorced by then. Oh ok. If thats the case Im Frank had already replaced her with a few more women and it didnt matter anyway.
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) Wasn't there a story about Royce Clayton and Frank Thomas' wife? I wonder how often this kind of thing happens... Oh, and it's a little old, but... http://soxmachine.com/blogs/soxmachine/arc...11/16/2010.aspx and this one, which is a little more relevant today: http://soxmachine.com/blogs/soxmachine/articles/1967.aspx Good stuff. I never heard anything about Clayton and Thomas' wife but who knows. I will say this, if Clayton did Franks wife he should buy lotto tickets cuz hes lucky to be alive.
  13. Good for Juan. I will drink my next case of beer in Juan's honor.
  14. Maybe thats why the Sox obtained Martinez a few years down the road.
  15. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 21, 2006 -> 07:02 PM) Ha, that's a little before my time. I suppose Mark Grace was sleeping with Ryne Sandburg's wife? Where d'you know this from -- the papers, a book? Thers various rumors about it. Im sure theres people on here that have more insight to the matter. I believe this happened in the late 80's and it was rumored that Grace and possibley more of Sandburgs team-mates had a good time with Rynos wife. I was at the first regular season game played at the cell between the Sox and Flubs and there was alot of us Sox fans yelling at Ryno asking him if we could have a piece of his wife too. I do know this; he did get divorced shortly after these rumors surfaced so Im positive theres something to it. Any help on this matter from fellow Sox fans would be greatly and humorusly appreciated, at Ryno's expense of course. Sorry I forgot to answer the question. Yes there was some good reading in the papers about it.
