  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 09:11 AM) The bigger issue is going to become why not Anderson over Rollins on the roster. Tim Anderson has put up a .725 OPS in his 2 months at AAA, is a clearly inferior defender than Saladino and you seriously think he should be in the majors?
  2. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) Nope. Totally different situation, and you know it. First of all, they can bring up Anderson anytime as far as I'm concerned. DFA Rollins, or whatever. That is a stand alone decision. That has nothing to do with Coats, and you know it. All I said, or implied, was that if Hawkins had Coats' numbers, he would be called up amid great fanfare. But it is Coats who has the big numbers, and he was a low round draft choice, so he stays at AAA. If you don't like what Sands is offering after putting up a .948 OPS in AAA last year, how well do you think Anderson's .731 is going to translate in the majors right now? Add in the fact that he's well worse defensively than Saladino.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 12:31 PM) Yeah, made a mistake. The problem is those AB's should be going to Rollins, anyway. And Ventura seems to believe Garcia SHOULD (at least until recently) have been putting up Sands' 816 line against LHP anyway. The problem is he's not utilizing them in a platoon but "going with hunches" and the even bigger problem is most of our hitters are garbage against RHP because we're a RHB-dominated line-up (other than Cabrera and Eaton). Yes, the problem is the last few players on the roster. Not Ventura's utilization of the bad options for which there is no good plan.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 02:21 PM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/splits/_/id/30867/jerry-sands LOL. Career-wise, Jerry Sands has 549 and 551 splits against LH/RH pitching, about what you'd expect. WOEFUL. Those are his 2016 splits. Sands has a career .816 OPS against lefties in the majors.
  5. These rule. The 1988-89 era uniforms are the worst.
  6. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 02:46 PM) In over 700 at bats, Jason Bourgeois has never hit a lick in the majors. He's been awful. No, he's hit like a Major League utility player.
  7. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 08:20 PM) Jason Coats is currently hitting .331/.394/.548. But it's a good thing we have Jerry Sands taking up a spot on the big league roster. Jerry Sands last year at AAA .287/.409/.538
  8. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 31, 2016 -> 09:41 PM) I think saladino is our smartest hitter in the box. He's the first Sox hitter to actually play the game in the box since maybe Konerko? The rest of our team just swings hard as f*** at the baseball like children. This has been the most patient approach we've seen from the team in a lot of years. Sox are #16 in walk rate. They haven't finished that high since 2009.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ May 31, 2016 -> 08:32 PM) Saladino is still a 0 WAR player so i still consider that one spot where we could improve if there are bargain bin guys available No he isn't. Whatever site you looked at will not have included today's game which will glaringly affect that stat based on the relative few number of games he's played. Also, looking at WAR for the few number of games he's played is pretty silly.
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 31, 2016 -> 06:43 PM) I told everyone this a month ago.. What do I know though? He already has been playing more. He started: 7 of the first 24 games 12 of the last 24 games
  11. Fans are meatheads. If you run an organization paying attention to their idiotic wants and decrees you have no chance.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) That poor kid drafted with the Samardzija compensation pick is going to have the weight of the world on his shoulders from a message boards perspective. There is nothing that a young minor league baseball player cares about more than what misguided clowns post about him on an internet message board. As it should be. Because there is nothing more important. In the universe.
  13. 95% of major league bullpens are smoke and mirrors. with huge variance in their success from year to year.
  14. QUOTE (SI1020 @ May 29, 2016 -> 03:58 PM) Coats is getting a little old for a prospect. He's having a decent year at Charlotte. Hit well at Charlotte last year, is a good defender, is older because he missed a year of playing time due to injury Danny Hayes? Are you kidding me? No. Nick Delmonico sort of came from out of nowhere this year. He's 2 for 17 since his promotion to Charlotte. He's 23. Jake Peter is doing OK at Birmingham as of now. And he's 23. And he's a 2nd baseman.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2016 -> 03:15 PM) Except the jury's still out on whether any of those players have the tools to really succeed at the next level. Scouts preferred the likes of Trey M. and Jacob May. Fwiw, Peter and Coats were the only one close to prospect status, although Delmonico had the original pedigree. Hayes is the type of kid who just hits and hits and hits and 75% of the time never gets a break to make it up unless he has a huge supporter like a Buddy Bell in the organization pulling for him. Sure. I was answering the very specific question "who's had a good year so far." And while Trey's numbers don't look great, he's again playing well above his age level. He's at AA and just runed 20. You'd expect him to have an adjustment period, and you'd hope he improves as the year goes on. Davidson I left out, but he's better now than any other time since joining the organization. Don't know if that will continue or not. There's no reason why Delmonico shouldn't be considered a prospect. He hit his way to AAA at age 23. Hayes could well get a shot in Chicago if there are injuries or serious slumping. The weird thing about Avi (and Austin Jackson) is that he's got reverse splits, hitting righties better than lefties this year.
  16. QUOTE (SI1020 @ May 28, 2016 -> 11:54 AM) I am politely asking who? Jason Coats Danny Hayes Nick Delmonico Jake Peter Tim Anderson has certainly had an excellent 2nd month in AAA. Fulmer has been bad. He also suffers from idiotic fans/sports media unfairly comparing him to Chris Sale/Carlos Rodon for no sane reason. It's also just 2 months into the season.
  17. QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ May 28, 2016 -> 07:53 PM) I'm cool with trading EJ while he still has some credibility. His velocity is gone, and he doesn't have the command to make that workable. But I don't want Shields at that salary. Edit: spelling boo-boo That salary is what would allow Sox to get him without giving up better players like Anderson.
  18. Manager doesn't matter. You can get to and maybe win a World Series with Ned Yost or Terry Collins, or Ozzie f***ing Guillen.
  19. QUOTE (maxjusttyped @ May 26, 2016 -> 05:49 PM) Anderson is forcing the White Sox hand right now. This is absurd. Has a lower OBP and OPS than Leury Garcia.
  20. Yankees are only a game under .500. Astros are 9 under. A's are 8. Angels are 5. Cincy, Padres, Minny, Brewers, Braves. Those are likelier trading partners. Rasmus is a lefty outfielder who would seemingly be available.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 25, 2016 -> 10:09 PM) Yep, Keenyn Walker, Jared Mitchell and Brian Anderson. Not to mention Trayce Thompson. And signing Dayan Viciedo. Keenyn Walker, Jared Mitchell, Courtney Hawkins Trayce was a second round pick. Anderson would make it 4 of last 17 picks.
  22. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ May 23, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) Toolsy outfielders are to KW what rakes are to Sideshow Bob. Can't avoid them, can't stop getting smacked in the face with 'em. With their last 16 1st round picks (incl. supplemental) the White Sox have taken 3 outfielders.
  23. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 25, 2016 -> 07:13 PM) Rollins has an OBP of 290 so if you replace him with ahitter getting on base at 330 that 40% more. 4% more
  24. Have not/will not read anything in this thread. That title is the worst thing I've seen here. thread/
