  1. Phillies sweep? What are the chances the Cubs get swept by a team that gets swept by a team that gets swept in the WS 2 years in a row?
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 11:14 PM) Except that Javier Vazquez is a far superior pitcher to Jeff Suppan. If you don't believe me, compare their numbers over the past 2-3 seasons, compare what leagues they have pitched in, and consider that Suppan makes almost the exact same salary as Vazquez. As it is, they need arms pretty badly. Unless Sheets resigns, Suppan will have more value to the Brewers than he will the rest of the league. I'm not really disagreeing with you. Javy is way better than Suppan, no matter how down on him the fans (and Ozzie) are at the moment. And it makes sense to try to move him to Milwaukee. But Suppan and his over priced contract would seem to prevent them from adding Vazquez. And they are sure as hell not going to give up one of their top trading chips to get him. There's a chance Cameron will not be renewed. His numbers were very close this year to Tori Hunters. Should Kenny be interrested?
  3. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 10:54 PM) on top of that, Suppan and Hall have negative value right now, and the Brewers really can't trade a starter who is almost assured of giving them 200+ innings of 4.25-5.00 ERA. Even if Suppan sucks, he's still pretty damn valuable to the Brewers, but not valuable on the trade market at all. Suppan is a bad contract that I'm pretty sure the Brewers would love to unload. Hall is in that catagory as well. When you're thinking of unloading bad contracts and failed prospects - like Javy and Josh Fields - that's pretty much what you can expect to be offered in return. For Hardy they'd want Danks.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 07:39 PM) Why would Milwaukee trade a 29 year old SS in what could be the start of his best years? I mean, sure, I'd love to give them Vazquez, MacDougal, and Fields for him, but I doubt it will happen. Hardy is 26 (6/19/82) and the Brewers won't trade him for a bunch of expensive castoffs. Trade Vazquez to the Brewers and you get Bill Hall and Suppan (you HAVE to take Suppan)
  5. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 8, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) anybody ever notice how much Buehrle sounds like Elvis when he lowers his voice? The person he REALLY sounds like (and shares a lot in common with) is Bret Farve....
  6. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 08:59 PM) Maybe since we are just now playing to fight off the Royals, we could possibly try to see Josh Fields play a little LF... oh wait, that would mean Cintron would have to play... nevermind. maybe Ozzie could pack up the Gonzalez/Mackowiak platoon and move it to 3rd for a couple months. Crede will probably be back with us next year - if Fields can actually play even so-so left field and hit like it looks like he may, we have 2 positions upgraded.
  7. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 08:22 PM) I am so anxious to see how KW is gonna possibly improve this team next year. What possibly canhe do?? Nobody is gonna give you s*** for JC. Do you trade JV?? JG?? MB?? I mean how the hell are we gonna get some young talent into this Org.?? I just don't see many of our players having any kind of trade value, except for JG, MB, and possibly JV. Dye isn't worth a damn. Thome?? Logan. Thornton. Neither is someone you'd rebuild a team around. Either (or both) would bring great value in return.
  8. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 04:33 PM) Better now than never! If these 2 games don't mean anything else, they at least illustrate that if you have top notch starting pitching and just a little help from the pen, even a ragtag triple A lineup can win some games. It is SO MUCH EASIER to upgrade your position players when you have a strong group of starting pitchers than visa versa...
  9. "I have heard Thornton's name thrown around, but not so much MacDougall. I would think Melvin would be more interested in the lefty, but of course what team isn't interested in a lefty pitcher with a heartbeat..." I think a trade that could work with the Brewers is Boone Logan (or Thornton, but I'd prefer to give up Logan) for Tony Gwynn...I don't see a future for him in Milwaukee but he's a solid defensive centerfielder, an improving leadoff hitter - he was hitting 301 with an OBP of .363 when he was sent down - and a pretty decent base stealer. He has that very nice habit of forcing his way on to a team by actually performing better than expected on the field. If the Sox could plug him to CF and leadoff next year, they could free up assets to try to fix SS or 2B.
  10. Balta had it right 10 pages ago...Damian Miller will be our number two, and for my money, I'd rather have him than a healthy Hall. He hit really well last year until he got banged up. He's a great team guy, good with pitchers, etc. The Brewers want Mackowiak for the LH platoon with Tony Graffanino until their hotshot Braun is ready. They would be happy to unload 2+ million for a 2nd string catcher, especially when both Mike Rivera and another backup catcher have been burning things up this spring. And as much as I like Mack. I don't see how he fits on this team. I'm pretty certain that Ed Perez is a lock for the 25 man roster. If we add Damian Miller before opening day, we'll be just fine.
