I don't want to jinx anything, but a rare fun Saturday night WGN broadcast for us out-of-towners!
-
Tyler Flowers' first ML hit! Congrats!
-
Damn! Nix almost had that - there's some of that range we hear about!

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) It's not that funny wtf It's been a long season for Hawk. Looking at the replay, it is pretty funny watching Beckham collapse like that. I don't wish that on anyone, but it is pretty funny.

GRAND SLAM FOR TCQ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 08:34 PM) Say no, Ozzie. I'm pretty sure Ozzie did say no. At least I hope so, no need to push Peavy in this first start back. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 08:37 PM) What's his pitch count? 73 pitches for Peavy.
-
If anyone isn't watching, Peavy is lobbying Ozzie and Coop to let him pitch another inning (it's currently the bottom of the 5th).

QUOTE (sox1844 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 12:22 PM) Simply put, I think Ozzie's management style works for maybe 2% of the team. I think the reason we suck and are giving up is that no one believes his "Blame Me" speeches and no one is motivated to play for him. If he cared for his players, he'd shut his mouth and let them play instead of making them walk on eggshells being afraid of what he's going to say about them in the media. I think he sucks the life out of the team every year. If they win, its in spite of him... not because of him. So, your view is that under a different manager, our lineup wouldn't be in one, big, massive, collective slump right now? For the record, I don't think this is Ozzie's fault at all. Rios slumped under Gaston, a totally different manager than Ozzie, and he's slumping now. When the big talent, most of it veteran talent, can't produce, there's not much Ozzie can do about it. He's dropped guys in the lineup order and benched guys, and nothing has changed. For all their historical production or future potential, the Sox lineup is full of terrible hitters right now. As the saying goes, you can either fire the coach or fire the players, and I think some of these players are going to get "fired" in the offseason.

Usually I think the fat jokes are somewhat unclassy, but given Colon's behavior with the Sox, I'm enjoying them this time around.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 02:57 PM) Hey if you want to have kids make sure you do it in Brazil or before the laws take effect because I heard Obama wants mandatory castration of all white people. Good thing my wife has my balls in her purse, they'll be safe there... wait, did I just say that out loud???

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 15, 2009 -> 02:36 PM) Yeah, I keep thinking there is something worthwhile to discuss on the matter, but it seems like we've been over everything already. I'll stick with the NSS Plantm. Perhaps an amendment to the NSS Plantm that includes a slightly different incentive system for doctors? This is one idea that came up in the thread in the last 24-48 hours that is interesting. An incentive system that still encourages people to join the medical field but doesn't encourage extra tests for extra income plus malpractice / tort reform is something that could make a sizeable difference in health care costs.

Not to sound like a discussion on the White Sox and fundamentals, but don't the Bears work on this stuff in the preseason? How come every WR is cutting off routes or running the wrong routes? I know the WRs aren't great, but give me a f**king break! -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 13, 2009 -> 11:40 PM) why waste the time reviewing some meaningless points? On the off chance the bears score a TD and miss the PAT. -

Gould FG makes it 15-13, is it enough? GB has the 2 minute warning and 3 time outs. -

So whoever it was that made that call handed the Packers the lead. Let's see if the Bears can respond. -

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 13, 2009 -> 11:02 PM) oh yea that was a great idea. wtf are you challenging? ohhh, well i hope they had 12 on the field If it turns out the Packers did have 12 men on the field, the Bears are gonna get incredibly lucky to be bailed out of that horsesh*t call. Edit: looks like they won't win the challenge. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) Have none of you learned anything about this team yet? Just when they give you hope, they start sucking. What happens after Mark Buehrle throws perfect game? We go 1-5 on an awful road trip. What happens after we win a big series against KC with a matchup of Greinke vs. Contreras? We lose a series to the Orioles and win 2 of our next 10. This team will give you hope and suck it away. It's been doing that all year. Would I like to see it not do that? Of course. It's not about who's right or wrong, it's about this team being absolute crap when it matters most. That's why I don't see it winning this division. BTW, Kazmir has been much better since joining the Angels. He's not the same guy we faced earlier on in the year with the Rays. Knowing this team, Ian Snell might cause some trouble. We've got a few weeks of baseball left, maybe a couple more after that if we get really, really lucky. Some of us are trying to enjoy every last minute that we can. Expecting the worst constantly is absolutely no fun, and its nice to enjoy when the team plays well and/or wins rather than think "doesn't matter anyway, we suck." This thread is about cursing the Tigers and (more recently) optimism about the Sox chances. Feel free to start a "Sox have no chance" thread if you need to talk about it.
