  1. WOW

I started this thread in hope of jinxing the Royals and then left with 2-0 Royals in bottom of 8th.

Just got home and saw the Rays beating the Royals in the 9th.

    WOW

Now we are only 1/2 game behind.

    :finger Pena

  2. UGH.....nice matchup.

Couldn't be Loaiza vs. Mulder or Buerhle vs. Zito or something like that.

THANKS, oh Gods Of Rotation Fates.....thanks for nuthin'....

You will actually see runs being scored. Also, Lily gives us the best chance to win a game against the As. You might actually see the Sox win, thank the Gods

  3. Which is why i feel Kenny should have picked up Nelson. He is worth paying for.

He is the difference right now between us losing in the first round or no

With him in the team, the game could be made into a 6-7 inning game. He and Marte could finish any team off inthe first round of the playoffs.

Best case we got him and paid for him. Worst case, Ms would pull him back off waivers, but they would not be able to trade him to the Yanks either.

    The Sox could-not-have-picked-up-Nelson.

I heard the explanation on ESPN Radio as to how it works, but I just can't remember all the details. But, the Yanks and M's had this deal worked out, and no other team could have jumped in and f***ed it up. Don't you think Boston would have tried to ruin it if they could have?

That is BS. I live in Oregon, and the Ms GM said if any team had picked him up, they would have pulled him back from the waiver wire. In that case, they could not trade him.

    Sorry, but you are wrong.

If the information I told you is wrong, it's ESPN that's wrong, not me. I think they know more about it than both of us.

The Ms GM knows more, trust me.

Also, read what Mr Showtime has posted. It is consistent with my post.

Also, if any two teams could make deals like that, then there would be no point having a trade deadline. Think about it.....

There is no such thing as two teams having a deal to trade that no one else can do anything about.

Other teams simply passed on both of them. The Ms GM said the same. Trust me he knows, it is his job

  4. Jayson stark from ESPN is reporting that the following players have cleared waivers and are available for a trade:

    Starting pitchers

    Livan Hernandez (Expos)

    John Thomson (Rangers)

    Freddy Garcia (Mariners)

    Sterling Hitchcock (Yankees)

    Rick Reed (Twins)

    Relief pitchers

    Jose Jimenez (Rockies)

    Mike DeJean (Brewers)

    Antonio Alfonseca (Cubs)

    Bats

    Rafael Palmeiro (Rangers)

    Tony Clark (Mets)

    Adam Kennedy (Angels)

    Darin Erstad (Angels)

Any interest? Garcia is too expensive ......

  7. The Yanks and Ms wanted to make this trade on July 31 but for whatever reason it did not happen.

But the point still stands, why did Kenny not stop this by just taking Nelson off the wire.

Of course, Seattle would have the right to take him off the wire and the Sox would not get him, but at least that would have prevented the Yanks from getting him.

I am thinking we are building to go deep in the playoffs (if we get there), not for a one and out

We could easily face the Yanks if the wildcard is Boston as Boston and Yanks cannot plan in the first round

The Yanks had one weakness and kenny let them fill it up

    That sucks

  8. Both Nelson and Benitez passed waivers for the trade to be consumated between the Yanks and Ms.

My question is why did we not pick up Nelson?

On another note, why did the Bo Sox, As, Minnesota or Royals either pick any of these guys up?

Seattle and Yanks were the last two teams on the waiver list due to their records.

I know Nelson is a free agent after the season, but come on.

The salary cannot be much for the remainder of the season.

Imagine Gordon, Marte and Nelson as the top 3 in the bullpen, with Wunsch as lefty specialist.

I am very bummed by this.

  9. I wrote to Rick Morrisey from the Trib/ChicagoSports.com and he replied to me:

    ======================

    Mr Morrissey:

What do you think about this article in the KC newspaper? If

possible, I would love to see you respond to him in one of your

articles. This journalist wrote an article around all star game time

proclaiming the Royals had already won the division. And he blames us

(fans) and you (journalists) of being cocky?

    ========================================

We ran that column in Wednesday's paper. I believe he will be having to

write something different soon. The Sox have won five of the last six

    against the Royals.

    Rick

  10. I have sent an email to Mariotti and Rick Morrisser pointing them to this article and basically telling them how this idiot calls us (sox fans) and them (chicago journalists) cocky while he guaranteed a Royals division win at the AS game

I would love to see Mariotti and Rick shred this guy. Boht these journalists of ours are capable to do it

  11. Given how my stomach was knotted every game in this series with the Royals at USCF, I cannot imagine what I am going to do for the last ten games of the year.

I doubt the division will be won by then (and it might still be a 3 team race then).

And we play the Royals 3 at home, then Yanks 3 at home and then 4 on the road vs the Royals

    YIKES

I might as well stock up on some medication now.

Can we win the next 20 games and wint his division before the last 10 games?

    Please please please

  12. Sorry folks, but I rathe rhave White up here than Ginter.

Can someone tell me why Porzio is not in the bull pen? Too many lefties because of Wunsch, Marte and Scho?

Is that why Porzio is not up in the BP?

I rather have Porzio than Ginter. Porzio looked good to me in the game he started.

  13. Bartolo deserves props from all of us.  We all were b****in and moanin about him a few weeks ago...

I have never b****ed about Colon. You have to love a guy who can consistently pitch 120 pitches in a game for you and not give up more than 2 to 3 runs always.

His contribution to our bullpen is not tangibly measured, but trust me, after seeing how delicate our bullpen is, every rest the bullpen gets when Bartolo pitches is huge.

With an off day tomorrow, we should have all our guns for the first game against the As

Also, Wright misses his start with the off day tomorrow, so he can pitch in the pen too on Friday if needed
