The Jeter thing definitely didn't work in Miami, and we'll see about Alex Rodriguez...that was for another sport other than baseball after some of his initial attempts failed. They jury is still out, he was working with at least one major investment partner there. Wasn't it the T-Wolves? Even Tom Brady only has 10% of the Raiders now, for example. Then obviously you have MJ. Where's Mellody Hobson and George Lucas on all this??? Don't they own 40% of the existing shares right now? Looking to cash out, or increase their investment?

Advertising....if they can prove or validate their ratings/share.

"Lombard, 49, has served as A.J. Hinch’s bench coach for all four of his seasons in Detroit. He began his coaching career with the Red Sox’s minor league affiliates before filling the same role, roving outfield and baserunning coordinator, with the Braves in 2015. The Dodgers then hired Lombard as their first base coach, a role he would hold from 2016 to 2020 under Dave Roberts. Lombard has previously been interviewed for positions with the Marlins (base coach) and Pirates (manager). Given his time with a World Series Champion Dodgers team, which is just a top-class organization itself, Lombard has some great experience to go with his current coaching role on a team that just made the ALDS. Ellis, 43, is a former big league catcher for the Dodgers, Phillies, Marlins, and Padres. An 18th-round draft pick back in 2003, Ellis has been working for the Padres since 2019, when he joined the front office as a special assistant to the baseball operations department. In 2024, he assumed a role that saw him interact with the MLB team and minor league affiliates as an assistant." https://www.soxon35th.com/more-names-surface-in-narrowing-white-sox-managerial-search/#google_vignette

Just hope there's SOMEONE/ANYONE on the major league staff who at least can speak Spanish...as roughly 1/3rd of the Opening Day roster will have English as their Second Language.
-
Cosmo Kramer for GM. At least they would have the best name, not sure about all the other baggage, though.
-
Not much drama in this series...so far. Creates a must-win situation for the Guardians against Clarke Schmidt for G3 in Cleveland. CLE starter TBA at the current moment.
-
Yankees should have put the game away right there but two runners picked off... And a Tim Hill appearance in pretty high leverage. And then Kahnle as well.

Or DeBoer...just no way Bama goes undefeated the rest of the way based on their defense these past two games. Just hope OSU isn't dumb enough to bring back Urban Meyer. -
Isn't the confusion here Tyler Nevin vs. his father Phil? At any rate, Sox could have the 1-1 pick from 1992 as shot caller. How can you possibly beat that?
-
Yet the current Getz philosophy is presumably based on a starting pitching, fundamentals and defense-centric team approach. Except our two best defenders are getting traded (Robert) or can't hit enough to justify a starting spot (Fletcher). And fundamentals poor due to? Hmmm...how can this go wrong?

Lombard also has Braves/Dodgers' ties. Originally a highly touted RB prospect for UGA. So, the KW of the bunch.
-
Don’t forget Sale and Quintana…
-
Knack the starter there. Brasier always an opener/reliever.
-
Nobody knows if Mayo can stick at third, and that still leaves Westburg.
-
You really think Getz will put together a WS team in your lifetime? KW's 2000-2012 record seems like the White Sox 1950's/60's 1910's or 1990-94 comparatively.
-
Carlos Rodon redeeming himself for his last playoff start against the Royals... Cobb starting a G1 for CLE just doesn't compute.

If they get run out of the stadium by OSU...who now has to impress every remaining game in terms of playoff positioning? -
The one area that SouthSider2k5 has gotten boxed in on is criticizing the White Sox fanbase support, historically...only showing up when there's a "winning" (meaning 2nd or 3rd place at worst) or competitive team, or like numerous Sox fans holding out attending games during seasons like 2000/2003/2008/2010/2012 because they were ultimately skeptical about those Sox teams. It's pretty much impossible to blame Sox fans themselves after the last two seasons of near complete, total sheer ineptitude. That has now become an extreme minority position to STILL support the organization...because there's no way to separate supporting from JR, or buying season tickets or even a suite for one game means you're "okay with how things currently are." A number of posters USED to cite how much the White Sox payroll was...and use that as proof of ownership commitment...see, they're spending somewhere between 12th and 18th in the big leagues, but they're actually something like 22nd-25th in attendance, but we've all learned from 2021-2025 that sheer spending itself doesn't correlate very strongly with the actual product on the field, or AT ALL, with this current leadership "regime."

Flaherty must be annoying Orioles and Tigers' fans throwing a shoutout now...

Sox looking at building in South Loop

Attendance has been trending up, overall... Obviously ratings for the playoffs/World Series declining year by year, that's what draws the biggest headlines. And the RSN problems, that were caused largely by a corporation or companies overpaying and then ending up with a serious case of buyer's remorse (but still a revenue driver overall when it eventually gets straightened out by MLB.) Maybe the Ohtani Show will be enough to reverse the trend nationally and internationally, especially if they face off with the NY Yankees in the World Series. -
Other than the hat/logo, 2023 Luis Robert and 2024 Garrett Crochet, there's absolutely nothing interesting about this franchise unless you love young/left-handed pitching...while it lasts.
-
6-0 Dodgers...not very interesting game so far, Senga not surprisingly struggled.
-
Already announced Rodon vs. Cobb in G1. Bibee vs. Cole G2 on Tuesday.

Except Arlington isn't really a suburb...it's just the mid point transportation wise between Dallas and Fort Worth. It's more like the KC Sports Complex with more bells and whistles...an airport fairly close, etc. You have one of the most iconic sports franchises in the Cowboys in?all of professional sports...two of the newer and nicest facilities, and winning traditions (Rangers recently won WS...two more WS runs in the previous decade) by and large. The best example of a move to the suburbs is the Braves (and perceived "safety" issues with downtown being one similar factor)...but they obviously control their entire metroplex in terms of the fanbase. Once again...look at how many titles the Braves have since 1990 compared to the Sox. Not even close. -
Hard to complain much about Bears today...albeit Jaguars look like they are throwing in the towel on this season already.
