White Sox at Twins Game Thread 7:10 PM CT

QUOTE (bmags @ May 1, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) He's the only player I can stand to watch right now. Thats probably the single most pathetic but absolutely true statement this year. And please just put Micah back in the 9th spot. Hes not ready for that increased pressure yet. The problem is we still dont have an ideal 2 hitter. Hell with it, try Beckham there until he goes hitless three or four games. -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2015 -> 08:09 PM) Considering how much the Sox were relying on increased attendance, let's hope there's not a lot of salary dumping needed after this season. Who could they dump? Danks maybe....trading Eaton or Quintana makes no sense. Stuck with Cabrera and LaRoche unless NL teams will take them back for 25-50 cents on the dollar. Robertson? Im sure the Bonifacio market will heat up in August, lol. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 1, 2015 -> 08:02 PM) I'm sure any GM would rather have Chris Young than Samardzija. And they all laughed at Hahn behind his back when the trade was made Well, they probably won't give back their no-hitter against the Tigers tonight. -

Why was LaRoche swinging at that 2-1? -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 1, 2015 -> 01:25 PM) I've asked, no response yet. They are now down two SPs, that's why Guerra started. But no roster moves yet, no word on Montas' whereabouts, or Recchia's injury. It's a little weird. Colleen Kane hasnt responded, either. Something's up that the team is asking the media to respect his privacy or its an internal disciplinary matter. Maybe related to his baby...?

You know he would go 0/17 if the White Sox promoted him...which they cant because of Beckham and Bonifacio.

I was laughing just now thinking about Greg....Moustakas and Hosmer have both had key bunt hits against the shift that led to big innings in recent games. Meanwhile, Chris Young is outpitching Samardzija and anyone in baseball could have signed him...and we would still have Semien, Bassit and Ravelo. Rios/Orlando/Dyson > Melky Morales > LaRoche -

QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2015 -> 07:48 PM) This team doesn't deserve any fan support. Theres just not much to get excited about....heading for ghost town status minus some major shake-up. -

How did Cabrera ever hit a homer? He's turned into Ichiro minus the triples, plus defense and .330 ba. -

Something finally went right for the Sox. What do you know. Throwing more curveballs than usual. -
No reason to feel bad for him...if he's good enough, like Escobar...he will find a home somewhere, eventually.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 1, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) Visiting family in Des Moines so we hit up the Iowa Cubs Game. What happened to all the good players? You can still watch Baez K, presumably. Schwarber will be there in June or July. Almora, possibly, and Edwards....

QUOTE (oldsox @ May 1, 2015 -> 05:34 PM) This is a new stat to me. Define, please. http://www.fangraphs.com/library/defense/drs/ That Taylor kid for DC can really play....and, btw, looking like Adam Lind or Kendrys Morales were better "value" plays than buying LaRoche near peak for his age and trendline hitting lefties. -

I saw Guerrero play for Clinton...looks a lot like Vlad physically. Doesnt have the speed (when both were the same age) or comparable outfield arm though... -
QUOTE (My_Sox_Summer @ May 1, 2015 -> 03:21 PM) I see what you did there. I think if people pay it, that is their thing. If they are happy, who am I to judge? Haha, well played.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 1, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) According to Google Maps, the location where he was arrested is a 3 minute drive from the police station where he was booked. That ride took 45 minutes. Good luck, officers. There should be a charge "wasting taxpayer dollars/dereliction of duties." Seems like they had nothing better to do with their time than taunt this guy endlessly, like a game...like college kids picking on the homeless and beating them to death for a cheap thrill.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 1, 2015 -> 12:33 PM) You completely missed the point of the article in favor of writing out gibberish, again. No, my point was perfectly valid if you think about it...by conflating these other statistics (lets say accidental drownings) it makes the police incidents more innocuous. Its a dishonest use of stats to cover up the problem, one that is real and genuine no matter how they try to spin it or hide it.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 1, 2015 -> 11:32 AM) This is an article from an unlikely source (Fox Sports) that details this in a very interesting way. http://www.foxsports.com/college-football/...-of-mail-050115 Except all those other ways to die should be broken down into wilfull/malicious negligence as the primary cause...then it changes things quite a bit. Of course, if you put drunk driving and a policeman killing a suspect deliberately in the same category subjectively, then this makes sense. For example, getting hit by lightning while golfing tends to be self-inflicted and often avoidable, right? I will agree that child mortality rates should go down, but, once again, have they risen because of malpractice on the part of doctors and nurses? Whats the real underlying or endemic cause? With the CHIP and AFCA, mortality rates should be falling, not rising.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2015 -> 09:42 AM) I understand that, but usually they make no effort to hide the giveaways they already have received. Just drop down a bunch of $5 tickets and say fill me up. Then you will feel superior so you can judge them, too? In Singapore, they have a normal intl airport and a "budget" one without all the restaurants and frills for those travelling on the equivalent of SW Airlines (Air Asia and similar carriers). Maybe if they call out those fans for being cheap charlies, they will either upgrade or not bother showing up at all for the lowest price possible to hoard all your giveaway items.
