The one they should consider is HaSeong Kim, but it’s only because he will be coming off shoulder surgery and his offense was down compared to 2023. It’s simply because they need at least one solid fielder on the infield…and nobody is ideally suited to play SS of their top four infield youngsters. And Adames is going to get a massive deal based on 2024, forget that. But JR won’t even authorize a contract over $50 million this offseason…he’s simply desperate to offload Benintendi, let alone add pricier FA’s. Based on his 2023 fWAR, a playoff team like the Dodgers will go after Kim…or maybe the Brewers to replace Adames. -
Boston isn’t rebuilding to turn around and empty out their farm system…especially when in 2024 you just made a lot of progress. Crochet should be the type of pitcher you do that for when you are just a player or two away from a great team. Wong Raffaela Duran Devers Casas and then you add Anthony and Mayer.

Pitching match-ups get really interesting from here on out: Buehler vs. Michael King, G3 Likely London Knack/bullpen vs. bullpen/Cease on 3 days' rest Yamamoto/Flaherty vs. Darvish on 3 days' rest/Cease if he's not pushed to G4 at Dodger Stadium They most importantly got the win If it’s even possible they’re even closer as teammates after going through tonight Their offense got going (and in the power department) Yu Darvish was phenomenal, which is huge with Joe Musgrove out The Dodgers and their fans poked the bear As we’ve seen this year, poking the bear hasn’t worked out great for the opponent so hopefully that trend continues the rest of this series. I can assure you the Padres won’t forget about Shohei Ohtani throwing the bat towards their dugout. Or Jack Flaherty cursing at Manny Machado. Or Dodger fans throwing baseballs at them. “A hostile environment,” Mike Shildt said postgame on tonight’s environment. “What I got out of it was a bunch of dudes that showed up in front of a big, hostile crowd with stuff being thrown at them and said, ‘We’re going to talk with our play; we’re not going to back down; we’re going to elevate our game; we’re going to be together; and we’re going to take care of business.” gaslampball.com

Machado and Flaherty want to fight. The entire outfield bleachers vs. Tatis and Profar lol...? Not really fair to Darvish here to make him wait so long on the mound.

The Dodgers or Phillies or Yankees could all end up being the ones desperate for more pitching, though. Baltimore and/or Atlanta will both have to replace their aces in all likelihood. Cohen could decide to jump start their retooling process. New GM in SF will want to make a splash and then you never know what the Tigers or Guardians might do. Also, LA had so many guys on the shelf they'll wait on May Gonsolin Stone...Buehler, etc.

Salas ended the season injured, for one...he has always been more about projection on the offensive side due to being the youngest player everywhere he has ever been. "His ability to pop out of the crouch and utilize impressive arm strength should also help him limit the running game. Salas also runs well for a catcher, and even if he slows as he ages, the rest of his game is so well-rounded that he could be the face of the next catching generation."

SD will likely wait until mid season to make any trades unless something dramatically changes in their ability to generate tv revenues....as noted, need a rebound from some of their better prospects. Baltimore makes a lot more sense because they have the prospects, and perhaps not the willingness to break the bank for Burnes or Fried. Snell doesn't strike me as the type of pitcher Elias would covet.
-
Crazy start to Padres/Dodgers... Dodgers must feel they've left three runs out there already. SD has keep adding on because LA offense just grinds you to death. Tatis (8/12) having an MVP caliber post season if SD actually prevails...also a highlight reel robbery of Freeman in right.

Father's old favorite Castellanos comes through in the clutch.

Vientos having an unreal game. 10 total bases...youngest NL player with three xb hits in a post season game. 6-6 tied again, Strahm just not a closer
-
Diaz simply ran out of gas...

Probably that the Mets and Dodgers need to meet for NLCS with the Yankees advancing to the WS.
-
Wasn't he already at 118 pitches though?
-
Dodgers just fight you every single at bat...Cease excels against free swinging teams.
-
This game reminds me of those four hour plus ones between the Red Sox and Yankees a decade or so ago. Dragging.

Just the very act of going to an antenna feels symbolically like going backwards in time in the race with technology...rather than something truly visionary. Like pirate or ham radio.
-
You can't walk the Dodgers...they will kill you with patience. Ohtani with his first defining playoff moment.
-
Cease at 98-99 in the first inning. Lots of pitches but escaped a jam.
-
Rough start for Yamamoto so far...not unlike his very first big league outing. Putting lots of pressure on team with Darvish having a very solid career record vs. LA. Knack completely inexperienced G3 potential starter over Buehler.

Of course Pham and Tim Hill were going to come together. 5-4 Royals producing some runs finally
