Breakouts? Quintana, Semien and Sxtlk fav MSaunders

Balthasar not going to take a run at the "mismanagement" of Marcus' playing time and position changes/lack of security and stability in the everyday lineup early last year? -
Breakouts? Quintana, Semien and Sxtlk fav MSaunders
caulfield12 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Danks should go before Quintana. That would make his (Jose's) fastball SEEM to jump up even more...along with his deceptive motion. With Danks following, his finished stuff is even easier to pick up, and quickly. There's a bigger disparity between Jeff and John than any other pairing other than Sale behind Danks instead of Q. Samardzija...Danks...Q....Noesi. Then you slot Chris in at the front upon his return. -
Ten seed is ridiculous. Odds are they end up in play-in game like Iowa last year...would be great ratings with UCLA and former Hoosier Golden Boy Alford vs. embattled Crean. But that would almost be TOO easy and thus criticized roundly.

Miami and BYU also close to fault line. Richmond and ODU out. Tulsa? OK State should be in. Stephen F Austin and Hampton lurking to put a scare into powerhouses.

Ucla and Ind out....Texas in. Ole miss and Lsu near or on the cut line. Same with Georgia, so three SEC teams. Murray State out. Harvard over Yale, Amaker back in. Temple in. Boise St. CSU. Only surprises so far Wyoming and possibly UConn over smu.

Jim Thome is making big but quiet impact behind the scenes

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 15, 2015 -> 08:34 AM) With the amount of raw power we have lurking in the system, hopefully Big Jim can help some of them out with the mental approach to the game. Thompson Hawkins Adolfo Barnum Engel Wilkins/Black Kevan Smith Davidson Nieto Mitchell -

And Ucla

Might as well go for a hybrid of Soler Puig Cespedes ...

Guess it doesn't really matter if you get the Ws...better than having worst 2nd half coach in McCaffrey whom always sabotages his team with idiotic technicals. Lunardi has them against the UC Irvine Anteaters....3/14 game, no Hampton match-up or MSU yet.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 14, 2015 -> 06:16 PM) Seems more sour than savery. Ending leaves a not so savoury taste...that said, it created a save situation to convert.

Congrats, Isu comes off the deck from 17 down to go up by 7 late and hold on to beat KU, faced similar deficit against TEXAS.

Wyoming just pushed a bubble team out...

Goodbye Blown Savery.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 14, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) from a "young guys you'd like to see do well" perspective it's been a pretty promising start to spring. Not to mention Danish, Rodon and Montas getting valuable experience. Lots of positives.

Johnson, Saladino and The Hawk tearing it up. Trayce has looked great defensively, and Nieto is essentially a bonus farm piece with potential. Saw the video...that was a deep throw to get the runner at home....and Micah's doing a great job of going with pitches and serving them up to the opposite field fwiw.

Tommy John surgery not such a sure thing

QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 14, 2015 -> 03:57 PM) Wow. You weren't kidding. That was excellent information. It really sums it up well. Before anyone posts about pitching again they should listen to that. Specifically about velocity. Mechanic can be a difficult topic unless you've really studied them. However, velocity should be easy to understand. Everyone should realize that any discussion of velocity at this time of the year is not only useless but detrimental. Pitchers should not be throwing at their max level now. This also exemplifies the problem with the current philosophy of pitching. Pitchers are now taught to go hard for six innings because it looks better in your analytics and you get more money as wins don't matter. Thus they throw harder more often instead of pacing themselves for longer outings. It's the same as hitters forgoing contact for power as that helps your OPS more. It really is a detriment to the pitcher's health. It's driven by the "new" way to look at pitching which in turn will make them more money. The pitchers are more effective for a shorter period of time but it also puts alot more stress on the arm. This is a must listen for every fan who wants to understand what is happening to pitching. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/mlb-los-...015-and-beyond/ It's the first of six threats to the Dodgers becoming a dynasty. Cool read, especially the possibility of their media deal going south (in Houston they simply declared bankruptcy to get out of deal with Astros and Rockets).... -

What about Tommy Amaker? He's due for another shot after Harvard. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 14, 2015 -> 03:09 PM) The White Sox had a Top 5 pitcher and hitter last year. They didn't make the playoffs. Correction, they didn't come close to sniffing the playoffs.

Scott Snodgress sets down Gillespie Flowers and Nieto consecutively.

Atta boy, Trayce....took out a runner with a great throw home from CF.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 14, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) It is too early, especially when you consider his situation but the reports of him coming out of instructs said that he made improvements to his game. With Micker, all you want to hear is that he is improving and that he is holding his own. This is his age 18 season after all. I think Micker might have the highest ceiling in the system and he could be one of the best prospects in all of baseball in the next couple of years. Lots of comps with Soler out there.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 14, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) You'll see this from him a lot. I know you freak out about all their guys, but he's this good. Mlb advance scouting and pitchers will adjust in the second half like they did to limit Abreu's power numbers. They excel at finding and exploiting any weaknesses. http://grantland.com/the-triangle/mlb-los-...015-and-beyond/ As much as there is concern about the future Cubs' dynasty, even the Dodgers Evil Empire could collapse easily enough.
