Anderson not exactly quieting his doubters, but he could make ten to twelve errors and they'd probably give him 130 games in Birmingham still. Sounds like that was a very routine play, just lack of focus or concentration. Maybe pressing or trying too hard to impress, especially after the two errors yesterday. -
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) Its not that he can't, but that most of those roles skew much younger. There are exceptions, but for the most part, they don't make many romantic comedies with actors in their 60s. Nicholson and Keaton...Alec Baldwin? Michael Douglas? Pierce Brosnan?

They said Rodon was working almost painfully slow, especially with runners on base. Hopefully Coop can tighten that up, using the Buehrle example as well as his lefty rotation mates. He did throw both a curve and change at least a few times, reportedly. -
QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) exactly, this org in on the cusp of being great with great prospects. so adding to the minor league talent eval is needed and more scouts. http://www.southsidesox.com/minors/2013/2/...s-back-on-track Just be patient. This article (two years old) cites the hiring of seven new Latin American scouts, increased intl. spending and it also predates Micker Adolfo. Everything is trending up...majors, minors and draft/international. Whereas we might have been 25th or 26th entering last year, we've already jumped to the 13-16 range overall by many subjective and some analytical measures.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 09:05 AM) Why? Are you not happy with Hahn's tenure? Haber is much more similar to Hahn than KW. You need your contract negotiators, and your talent evaluators in equal measure, and, on rare occasions, you have front office guys proficient at both. To be disappointed in much beyond the smaller moves fizzling (like Keppinger) is pretty much an impossible argument to make given where this organization was 18 months ago.

QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 02:13 AM) One thing that I'm kinda disappointed about is the lack of turnover in the FO, when Hahn was promoted to GM, I expected him to bring in some new blood along with him to help run the operation. Maybe the promotion of Haber is a sign of things to come. White Sox "family" and loyalty, as usual. Bell and Paddy came from other organizations. They have their system-wide pitching philosophy, and all those guys serve as advisors to the front office like JR Perdew. If you read about his background, it's really fascinating. http://dashboard.mlblogs.com/tag/j-r-perdew/ Reminds me a lot of Jeff Bannister.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 08:49 PM) Wha? That was incredible!!! One strong Nicholas Cage example of when overacting can be entertaining and not merely pathetic check-cashing.

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) ahh i hated him for putting me thru battlefield earth and swordfish. those were date night movies for me and it was a miserable night. i was sure if it was my date or the movie that killed it. however basic is a great movie. At least there was Halle Berry in her prime.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 11:08 AM) Travolta can come of the closet... I won't hate him because he is gay, I will hate him for putting me through things like Grease and Saturday Night Fever. Those were nothing compared to Battlefield Earth and Face-Off.

http://www.indystar.com/story/sports/colle...hands/24370679/ Wolves are out in force baying at Creans heels. Btw, is there any example of an 11-7 or 10-6 big ten team missing? 8-10/9-9/10-8 I get that. 2013 and 1997 still sting for Iowa fans.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 07:26 PM) Ew, kids. Congrats though. ? http://www.metacritic.com/movie/it-follows A new movie for you. And Michael Phillips of the tribune really doesn't like Chappie.

Thanks...away from hospital it will be much easier on a king sized bed to maneuver. There were no private rooms avail so you're stuck with three twin sized beds in one normal room.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 02:26 PM) Baby girl is resting with her mama. Birdie Annette Harnden. So adorable. Life changed. Beat you, we had ours Tuesday afternoon...a boy, Ethan Robert. My mom, baby and I all are born on the 3rd (diff months). It's amazing everything you worry about, like a sneeze or whether the milk its strong enough....the baby hitting his head on the hardwood floors, etc. My wife is really having a hard time with the consistent pain of nursing, maybe even more so than giving birth. By the way, does anyone have a cure for when the baby is having a few swallowing problems or hiccups? In China, the nurses teachers mothers to hit the feet and cause pain or crying...sort of like disassociation or transference, but tapping hard on the bottom of the feet just doesn't feel right as a parent. My wife did it a couple of times but I made her feel guilty, like a bad cop, so she stopped while I search for more humane approaches. Even holding the baby, I felt a bit nervous the first time...but when see him look you in the eyes the first time...nothing to describe it. Unfortunately, they don't allow you in the delivery room (stays on the bed next to mom) so I had to for 3.5 hours to meet them after the birth. But still more than worth it...instantly changes your philosophy about the world, future, environment, etc.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 02:31 PM) If the Sox make the playoffs this year, it's going to be because of the strong arm of Beckham turning double plays. And nearly unlimited range to his left blah blah blah. I tell ya stone pony if gordon could actually hit his way out of a paper bag he'd be up there with frank white, bill mazeroski, Robby cano, Robbie alomar, and my ol buddy pete with Los Carmines.

How did Ynoa's stuff look? Has Hawkins always had that slight bat wiggle/waggle timing mechanism in his swing? -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 02:11 PM) Close play going into second. If the throw was a bit more accurate, he would have been a dead runner. Fwiw, Steiner blamed Micah for having his back to the runner and being a bit out of position to catch the ball and make the tag...that he kind of caught it and chased rather than setting up properly. Would have to see the replay. Johnson just helped turn a double play. -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 01:12 PM) If I were on the committee i'd say no, but I think conventional wisdom is that Purdue needs that win and maybe even one more in the tourney to get in. Illinois needs the game at Purdue and they should be in, but it might require another win in the tourney as well. 10-8 over an 11-7 B10 team doesn't have too many precedents.

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 01:08 PM) Challenge accepted... single up the middle. If he does win the job, how many times will that plate appearance where he stood his ground and doubled down the LF line be cited? -

If that's true, there's no possibility Sanchez or Beckham win the 2b job...that they're 100% set on Jennings, about their bench set-up as well as the last two RH relievers. and Fourth outfielder...because of Sweeney, Betemit, Josh Fields, etc., being spring training sensations. -

Very good article about Sox rebuilding strategy/timetable

What the hell Hahn? You don't separate the different outfield positions or starters/relievers, haha...of, four infield, catcher, pitchers. No category for DH only guys? No space for additional columns? Get with the program. -
Does Purdue need to beat Illinois to make the tourney? Or would three losses in a row (including tourney) knock them out?

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 12:48 PM) If noting that someone had a good/bad game is your idea of evaluating future performances, as if we were extrapolating that data to mean anything, then this thread if going to be just as infuriating for you as yesterday's. I think no game threads until Hawk's mythical 1/3rd Memorial Day assessments.
