  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) Hector Santiago f***ing sucks In all fairness, the last two games, you could say that about most of the players on our roster. Lillibridge, Fukudome, Ohman, Stewart, Hudson, etc. Viciedo's ice cold, Beckham's fallen off again, no Konerko...we're scuffling, but it's only 2 games. And we're still in first place. And Detroit's in much worse shape than we are. Although the mysterious home woes continue again.
  2. Well, whatever he threw for the homer, that most assuredly wasn't good. Might as well let him go back down to start in the minors and give Quintana his spot for now. Assuming Humber's not banished from the rotation soon.
  3. Four screwballs in that sequence? Were any of them good?
  4. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 08:33 PM) And to think that, according to a random Jon Heyman tweet, the Mariners wanted to pay dearly for him in the off-season and we wouldn't part with him. Classic sell high situation Was there ever a specific player named? We heard all offseason how Lillibridge was the most inquired-about player on our roster. The other side of it is at that time, we didn't have Fukudome and he was probably our best back-up to Beckham and Morel falling on their faces, too. But yeah, whatever the return would have been >>> 10X Lillibridge's value now
  5. Hmmm....Santiago's at only 91-92. Earlier in the season, maybe he was overhyped or too much adrenaline and consistently was 93-94-95.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 08:30 PM) Absolutely terrible strategy this inning. Also means you can't hit for Flowers if you want to. With Ramirez, Flowers and Hudson hitting, you weren't counting on a run there, but DeAza's always clutch. Just not our series so far. It's the Blue Jays. What new? That would be 11-28 now? or 11-29? Actually, losing these two games isn't the end of the world. It exposes our weaknesses again. Things were just going too well to continue like they had been, so the devil's advocate position is that losing first place might be what our team needs to get back going again and realize there are some obvious areas for improvement. Nobody would have ever expected the Indians to go 5-0 against the Tiggers, either. Especially in DET, now.
  7. Figures that Lillibridge would get thrown out with how bad his overall season has become.
  8. AJ at .303 at this point in the season? I'll take whatever vitamins or Fountain of Youth drink he's currently imbibing.
  9. There will be ZERO desire to rebuild when the division's still so winnable with Detroit currently falling apart. Nobody concedes to the Indians. Although they have the prospects to rent Quentin, they can't go out and take on another Jimenez contract this year. They need help at 3B if Chisenhall can't hold the position, and they're always going to be a bit short offensively with Brantley in CF. Damon, Kotchmann and Marson won't scare anyone. LaFatta (one Ozzie nickname that was pretty funny) has never produced consistently at the major league level.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 08:54 PM) Grimes hard big injury issues this year for GT Was he using Viagra, Cialis or Sustengo recklessly?
  11. There's our break. Dunn tried to pull a high and outside pitch, got the lucky break. Make Morrow pay now. There's just no way we should only be down 2-0 at this point.
  12. Beckham's lost about 10 points and Dayan 25 points of batting average. Although Viciedo's hit the ball hard twice tonight, right? On the computer, they were line outs, at least.
  13. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 08:02 PM) Ohman lol...he's right. Rasmus was being a complete cock there. No ones trying to hit you idiot. He went 5/5 yesterday and had a hit today, so of course he's Public Enemy #1. Probably got that idea from his dad, it's Rasmus and Scott Pilgrim against The World.
  14. Great, that was productive. Now we either get knocked out of this game or go to another bullpen guy.
  15. Is Ohman really a better option than Santiago? Guess he's paid more, and has better control...but not the stuff.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 5, 2012 -> 09:33 PM) http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/06/06/the...gue-movie-lives The Justice League is possibly having a movie made. Unless they get Christian Bale signed on as Batman, I don't see good things happening. http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-talk/j...-203740882.html Not sure if this is the same article or maybe a twist on the one you read.
  17. Tigers 0-5 against CLE this season, gave over, 9-6. CLE 1 GB, DET 6 1/2. DET a season low 6 games under .500 now and searching for answers. Morrow at only 78 pitches through 6, Quintana with 92 and a batter reaching 1st base from going to the bullpen perhaps. And Nathan Jones is in to keep the game close.
  18. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 07:42 PM) Another solid outting from Quintana if he's done. Quintana couldn't put guys away tonight. Had a lot of 1-2 counts and didn't strike anyone out. Same issue with Danks in recent years. Has the stuff to get ahead but not wipe out hitters or prevent them from fouling off pitches. Floyd and Humber at least have those wipeout curves when they're going good.
  19. QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 07:01 PM) My biggest fear this season, is the Sox remaining in the hunt all season only to have Sale, Peavy and Quintana get gassed by September and the Sox miss out... I think a starter at the deadline should be more of a priority than upgrading at 3rd if Morel still can't cut it.... So if Morel and Hudson both can't play 3rd OR hit, it's still less of a priority than starting pitching? Guess we'll see soon enough with Floyd and Danks when he comes back. Obviously, Danks can't be moved out of the rotation.
  20. But it's essentially $1.25 million because you'd have to pay someone the minimum salary for those three seasons on the roster, anyways. So is 0.9 WAR difference worth $1.55 million?, is the question... And the opportunity cost of not holding Allen back to include in a package for a better player than Pena.
  21. Yan Gomes is the first Brazilian-born player to make it in the majors.
  22. Hudson down to a .167 average with the White Sox now. Morel-esque. Although he did have that triple and maybe another key hit or two.
  23. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 6, 2012 -> 06:49 PM) Quintana is a fighter man. Is he one of our top prospects or just somebody we through in the fire? He wouldn't have been on most Top 20 or maybe some Top 30 prospects lists in the weakest system in baseball coming into this season. He had less AA experience than even Nestor Molina coming into 2012.
  24. When's the last time a White Sox rookie pitcher had an ERA anywhere close to 1.42 after 3 starts and a long relief appearance? I can't even remember anyone under 4 except for maybe Buehrle, but he was almost exclusively used out of the pen.
