  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 2, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) Those are the little things that make me think the whole "act" thing is BS. It sounds like the dude is a pompous ass who thinks he is better than everyone else. Like most good bullies, he doesn't like it when that same act is turned against him or anyone doesn't prostrate themselves before him like he's Loki or something. Hence, his pride in always ending every argument on his own terms, un-following, getting THE last word in. I would suggest one of his "steps" in recovery/therapy should be watching the new movie of the same name (BULLY) to understand it from someone else's perspective. Still not 100% sure he'd actually "get" it.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 2, 2012 -> 10:22 PM) More loud noises, fist shaking at owners. Why does this make me think of Sam Worthington in one of those "Titans" movies? Release the Kraken on Reinsdorf!!! Do it. Now!! Shakes fists at the heavens and curses at God like Captain Dan in Forrest Gump from the top of the mast. BTW, we still haven't won a game all season in which we've scored 3 runs or less.
  3. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 2, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) Anybody questioning Ohman being used AT ALL you're nuts. The Sox have TWO guys right now you can trust coming out of the pen. In a lefty-heavy line-up, this was a perfect night for Ohman to pitch. YES...Robin let him go a batter too long, but for those of you saying "why was Ohman pitching at all" you're wrong. Reed and Thornton were going to go the 8th and 9th. Who would you suggest using for the 7th? Santiago? Axelrod? Stewart? Jones? Everything was fine until he didn't use Thornton to get Kotchmann (when Ohman was clearly wearing down in a multiple inning performance which he's not used to) and then using Reed against their best RBI guy with a runner already on 2nd. Or just bringing in Reed one batter earlier, when the runner was only on 1st and you weren't facing Hannahan. That would have been okay, TOO. I suppose that's good for Reed to get a feel for closing, but not really the ideal position you want to put him in there, that's for sure. The splits for Hannahan R/L were pretty much irrefutable in terms of the right move there (or not).
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) s*** happens every other day when you are a .500 team which is the Sox destiny. Which Greg are you tonight? The unhappy camper version? Darned White Sox, 5-8, at home!!! BOO!! Why would any fans come out and support this crapfest? Ozzie Guillen would have deftly managed through the 7th and 8th and led the Sox to victory, etc. Ozzie Guillen will make the Hall of Fame after his managerial career is over since we provided so much on the job training here in Chicago...whereas Ventura's lucky to make the Oklahoma State Hall of Fame.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2012 -> 09:37 PM) The Sox are either going to tie it in the bottom of the 9th or win or lose. There isn't a save situation to be had for the home team tonight. Might as well use your closer to keep it as close as possible. Not even Ozzie Guillen would have mismanaged the pen this badly tonight. He was smart about ONE thing. You just don't want Matt Thornton facing Travis Hafner EVER. He got away with Ohman against Hafner the first time. Zach Stewart or Nathan Jones time, lol.
  6. I always knew Oklahoma State was an inferior university, lol.
  7. Now who do you go to in the bullpen? You're going to burn through Reed when we needed him an inning earlier to keep the game tied? How/why is Thornton in the game now? This is ridiculously bad managing tonight. First, he manages "not to lose," like the prevent defense using Ohman. Now we're going to burn our best reliever down by 1? Makes no sense at all.
  8. Rare AJ Pierzynski strikeout, especially against a RHP.
  9. PR Lillibridge please. Steal 2B to lead the majors, lol. My Cousin Vinnie Pestano from Jersey Shore entering the contest. Pujols all the way down to .206. Never thought we'd see that in early May. And too bad Walker isn't the Braves' pitching coach, too. 13-13, back and forth, back and forth that game goes.
  10. Except a healthy Heyward is worth much more to an offense than Beckham, Morel and Viciedo combined.
  11. Put this one in the managerial notebook for referencing in the future. Not good decision-making that inning to put Reed in that situation when it was avoidable. Kotchmann was hitting .143.
  12. Dammit!! Just used Ohman way too long there and paid for it. Hannahan has been their RBI guy this year.
  13. Thornton has to be out, you don't use Reed here against a LHB in this situation.
  14. Greg Walker should be in the position coaches Hall of Fame in Galesburg, Illinois. Especially because they're putting up those numbers against the vaunted Phillies, give him a gold watch.
  15. Be careful with Kotchmann, this is the kind of pitcher he can go yard against, despite his low average.
  16. You don't really want to get beat using your 6th best reliever in a tie game at home, do you? Well, I understand the logic with the switch hitters and lefties, but playing with fire here.
  17. Great insight GameDay, Joe Smith would rather go after Brent Morel than Alejandro DeAza. LOL.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 2, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) Apparently we now put defense on the board. Harrelson got a little excited, eh? He's working himself into a lather, ala Tom Kelly? Shouldn't there be a rule for those sayings that a runner should theoretically be scoring if Alexei DOESN'T make the play to merit such a call? Oh, well, nice to see Harrelson excited and energized again, compared to last year's Bataan Death March (if anyone has a family member who served in the Philippines, that's just my "wrestler persona" and I'm not actually poking fun of the very real atrocities which happened at the hands of the Japanese in WW II.)
  19. QUOTE (K-Rock @ May 2, 2012 -> 08:52 PM) Why does Robin love using Ohman so much Because he's a GENIUS. Well, at least in this particular situation. Would almost rather see Ohman than Thornton against Hafner.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) Damon's a DH at this point. Its a 3 inning game. He has maybe one AB left in regulation and can kill you in LF. Removing him is managerial genius. Maybe it would be more genius to DH Damon in the first place instead of having Kotchmann's .143 average at 1B? And not such genius to have 3 lefty dominant hitters in a row (yeah, I know Cabrera's a switch hitter, but he mostly faces RHPers).
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) Lowering expectations? I thought Cooper works miracles. Arise, Dick Lazarus Allen, and come forth from the grave!
  22. The Damon Experiment didn't last long. I'm sure he still looks very rusty. Maybe they can try Magglio or Vladdy Guerrero next.
  23. That's the 2nd or 3rd guy who's escaped an 0-2 count tonight. Sheez. Not one of his better performances, but almost a "quality" start. They should change the definition after watching Phil in tonight's game. That's the end of Humber's night, 6 walks, HBP, 4 hits and 6 K's. Can't believe the game's tied at this point. Then again, you can argue Gordon makes that relatively routine play and we're up by 3 and turning it over to the pen.
