  2. http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/04/21/white...ners/?hpt=hp_t2 CNN "Pitcher Perfect" a pretty lame headline for yahoo sports. http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2012/04/21...tml?_r=1&hp Front page of NY Times (at least internet edition)
  3. Mark Buehrle's perfect game Buehrle was assisted by a dramatic ninth-inning wall-climbing catch by center fielder DeWayne Wise to rob Gabe Kapler of a home run; Wise entered the game as a defensive replacement in that inning. This was the first major league perfect game in which the pitcher and catcher were battery-mates for the first time; Ramón Castro had been acquired by the White Sox less than two months before.[41] This was also the first perfect game to feature a grand slam, by Josh Fields in the bottom of the second inning. Umpire Eric Cooper, who called the game, was behind the plate for Buehrle's previous no-hitter, as well.[42] On July 28, Buehrle followed up with another 5⅔ innings of perfection to set the major league record for consecutive batters retired at 45 (including the final batter he faced in his last appearance before the perfect game).[43] Perfect games lost to the 27th batter On June 27, 1958, Billy Pierce of the Chicago White Sox gave up a double, which landed just inches in fair territory, on his first pitch to Senators pinch hitter Ed Fitz Gerald.[63] On April 15, 1983, Milt Wilcox of the Tigers surrendered a pinch-hit single to the White Sox' Jerry Hairston, Sr.[65] Then you have the infamous Armando Galarraga/Jim Joyce incident. Halladay and Dallas Braden were the two to do it since Mark.
  4. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) THE HUMBER GAMES!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE! !!! That would be a very good headline for the Trib or Sun-Times. Too bad it was on the road.
  5. Alexei with the Gatorade bath in the middle of the FOX interview. Felt so good for Humber there, he's a super humble Humber...guess his wife is expecting now, too. Amazingly, 3 out of 21 perfect games in history of the game by the White Sox (14.3%) April 30th, 1922 Charles Robertson July 23rd, 2009 Mark Buehrle April 21st, 2012 Phil Humber
  6. Too bad 75% of Sox fans will probably expect a late start and not even realize the game was played in the afternoon.
  7. Morel blown away his last 2 AB's. Oh, well...as they said, who cares at this point?
  8. Nice, DeAza. Pulling another ball through the right side of the infield.
  9. Get to see Lilly's and Beckham's ability to turn around 96-97 MPH heat.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 04:05 PM) MLB can't even make this a free broadcast now because of the stupid blackout rules. Some of the games even get blacked out here in China...as if it was possible for me to go to the ballpark, like Twins/Rays yesterday. So weird and random. Thankfully, this one's on MLB.TV and my internet connection is fast enough not to catch and freeze every 2-3 minutes.
  11. Jeeez, the middle of this game has been played like it was the final game of the season and everyone had tee times tmrw morning. Everyone's focused on Humber. At least KW has that jewel in his back pocket, and the Twins, Royals and A's all can wonder why they let him go. It's not like the Royals couldn't use some pitching. Wonder if a pitcher's ever thrown a no-no after being waived/released 2-3 times in his career? 7 k's, 74 pitches, 22 outs. Viciedo really got white quickly, lol. Lilly in LF.
  12. Konerko usually doesn't look that bad usually. 2% of the country? Is Karros joking or serious?
  13. What could be MORE interesting would be if that dude's the last hitter of the game and he tries to bunt a 2nd time...
  14. Got 2 extra MPH on that fastball. Blew Figgins away.
  15. Shades of the Ben Davis bunt back when he was playing for the Padres. Poor Curt Schilling, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Can't fault the Japanese players for bunting, that's what they have been trained to do their entire careers over there.
  16. 18 up, 18 down. C'mon Alejandro Pena DeAza, let's manufacture a run this inning, please. Good point Sims, Humber hasn't even had to go to a single full-count.
  17. Viciedo now down all the way to .186 and should sit tmrw for Fukudome. Beckham parked at .184. White Sox doing their usual mid-game thing of sitting on a lead and not adding more. 56 vs. 101 pitches for almost the same exact number of outs.
  18. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) Guys who are the Spanish announcers for the sox? Hector I'm Not Nestor Molina and Billy Russo, WNUA. http://chicagoradioandmedia.com/news/2377-...5-espn-deportes
  19. Off the bat, thought Montero tagged that one. 15 up, 15 down. Like a pitching machine today, on cruise control so far.
  20. Most boring FOX in-game manager interview ever, lol. Ackley hit that ball really well...Rios almost under-ran it and had to jump up a bit at the last moment. PHIL HUMBER simply dominant so far this game. Let's score some more runs, don't stop now boys!
  21. Just missed it again. Dunn getting some good contact on most of his swings, though. 6 for 12 with RISP, 1 HR, 10 RBI's. Dunn, AJ and Paulie at least are doing their share with runners on base. As Karros said, it feels like the score should be 15-0. One of those trap games, where the M's could get back in it quickly with a crooked number.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 02:55 PM) Damn, rocket right at them. Numbers with bases loaded this year are shocking. Or not shocking, based on the hangover from 2011. We can make a legit argument for being 10-4 or even 11-3 after today. Of course, we probably didn't deserve to win the Rangers game that Rios homered and one of those Tigers games. Beckham's really doing a better job in getting on base this year than in 2011, despite the lower BA.
  23. Humber down to a 1.08 ERA, 4 k's already in three innings, looking like the 1st half 2011 version. Too bad we can't play the M's every series. Used to be a nightmare to go on those West Coast trips. Now the only thing to fear a bit is the Angels...would have been nice to face them this trip when they were scuffling a bit, as eventually that line-up will break out.
