  1. Astros must be ruing that Jake Rogers trade about right now...boring game suddenly got compelling.
  2. KC just needs to put a run or two up there and all the pressure falls on Baltimore. That didn't help. KC pen been one really solid area of team down the stretch.
  3. Cole Ragans going 124 to 190 innings after three recovery seasons spent recovering from multiple tjs. Best trade in recent memory. Ragans' changeup second biggest strikeout pitch in baseball.
  4. Waited too long to rally their record...got a bit complacent. Mentions of Kopech and Gene LaMont. Btw Kerry Carpenter a 19th round pick same year that Greene and Vaughn picked early first.
  5. Houston down to Skubal 3-0 early...took a shot off his glove hand or wrist area as well. Hard not to flash back to 2021 and how long ago that seems right now.
  6. Pat Murphy really should be MoY…if it’s not the Mets’ guy. Or Schildt/SD.
  7. https://apnews.com/article/cbs-debate-vice-president-fact-check-7a3b31c98ab092dd44915df57a359d10 Surely this will go down as a complete success…what could possibly go wrong?
  8. https://www.thebaseballcube.com/content/player/218260/ Fine, even though Sweeney has been traded twice…at least the Tigers now have a legit SS who can hit around 650 and hold his own. https://www.baseballamerica.com/players/19832-thayron-liranzo/ And #12 LAD prospect, #88 MiLB. 1.031 ops at West Michigan, MW League. For Flaherty, who wasn’t even as good as Fedde but had the established track record. Tigers just did a much better scouting job.
  9. “Second baseman Lenyn Sosa, who homered and drove in three Sunday, had the second-highest batting average among AL qualifiers in September. Rookie right-handed starter Jonathan Cannon, who picked up Sunday’s victory, proved himself as a steady rotation piece. Rookie third baseman Bryan Ramos, who also became a U.S. citizen in ‘24, had two hits and two RBIs, as a few examples.” Scott Merkin mlb.com
  10. Then you’d have to do the same for Shoeless Joe Jackson… “Rose recently was the subject of an HBO documentary about his life on and off the field, including his ban from baseball for betting on the game. In an interview with The Enquirer in June, Rose reflected on that life, the consequences of his gambling and his own mortality. “What, are they waiting for me to die?” Rose said of his chances of getting into the Hall of Fame. “Wouldn’t that be horrible if I died next week and then next year they reinstated me?” Rose's legacy also was on his mind in his last post on the social media site X on Sept. 21. The man known to fans as Charlie Hustle wrote about his grandson, a baseball player at La Salle High School, who'd recently been featured in a Philadelphia newspaper article. "Couldn't be more proud of my grandson," Rose wrote. "Keep hustling with La Salle baseball. The #Rose legacy lives on." yahoo.com/sports
  11. Yordan Alvarez isn’t even a 7 time All Star and he’s the best young hitter the Dodgers traded away…
  12. https://www.sfgate.com/giants/article/sf-giants-fire-farhan-zaidi-19790318.php It brings an end to Zaidi’s heavily-criticized tenure after almost six seasons in charge, which have mostly been marked by disappointment, as the Giants missed the playoffs five times. Speculation about Zaidi’s job status has been rampant for months and ratcheted up last week after a bombshell report from The Athletic last Sunday said Buster Posey got involved in the club’s negotiations with Matt Chapman. Now, Zaidi is out and Posey is taking over, Giants chairman Greg Johnson said in the press release announcing Zaidi's departure.

  14. Banned. Good job rallying all to the Cubs this year…though. Jose Abreu probably has a big wad of chew in right now, somewhere in the world.
  15. Unless it’s with the Royals…
  16. Drafted Vaughn over that guy….must be a twisted joke.
  17. https://nypost.com/2024/09/30/sports/mets-clinch-playoff-spot-on-francisco-lindors-ninth-inning-home-run/ Watching Lindor and Steve Cohen celebrating together…it’s almost hilarious the Mets ever since the offseason went out of their way to say it was a retooling year while the White Sox didn’t even have the luxury of wasting a season. Then for poor Guardians fans…you just never ever get to see a fair fight because of the economics of the sport, Jose Ramirez and Lindor vs. the world.
  18. Missed postseason 5 of the last 6 years and too expensive…would never have a generous budget in Chicago going forward.
  19. Robert being able to leave the organization and reach his true potential with another coaching/development staff.
  20. Cleveland won the Central division by a lot and has a playoff bye, KC WC along with the Tigers, who can ALSO heartily thank the White SOX.
  21. That's VERY VERY optimistic. Even if they moved Schultz, Montgomery and Quero up to the big leagues, you might have only gotten a bump of 2-3 games, at best, IMO. As it is/was, most of those younger players proved not to be ready on the position player side. We did get really impressive results out of Burke late, that's one reason to be encouraged, but he's simply replacing Thorpe IMO until we see proof otherwise. The only way they would have had that 10 game jump would be if someone like Clase, Helsley or Mason Miller was the closer all season long.
  22. All eyes on ATL. Braves trail 4-2 going to bottom of the the 8th down South against KC. Heart of the order.
  23. Ohtani to 59 steals fyi gets at least one more at bat probably. Was backed to third before he could steal it. JR not interested though.
  24. And now Fletcher over 200. Cause for celebration? Or we have to watch him for another year now? Counting down minutes to the end of the Moncada/Kopech Fever Dreams Era of Sox baseball.
