  1. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:52 PM) Storen and the twins want bernadina and Steve lombardozzi Throw in Billy Jo Robidoux and it's a done deal.
  2. Ozzie's just trying to prove his unquestioned genius that he can still beat the Red Sox with the worst possible hitting line-up in baseball.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) According to Bowden, he's going to Wash for Storen. Saw where Yankees were also inquiring about Span. That's risky with his slow injury recovery.
  4. Deal is done according to Troy REnck of the Denver Post. White OR Pomeranz, Kipnis and Chisenhall. Pressure on the Yankees to make a pitching move now... Morel hitting into bad luck, close play at 1B. Morel's our best bunter after Vizquel and Pierre when he's bunting for a hit. Unfortunately, power....not so much.
  5. Humber is definitely on with all of his pitches tonight. But be ready starting in the 5th/6th for things to go south in a hurry. Just in case. That line-up has so much firepower, they'll put up 4-5 runs in about two or three minutes.
  6. Jimenez is definitely going somewhere the next day or so if they're scratching his start tonight. ERA of just over 1 for the White Sox bullpen over the last 26 games. Everyone's gotta to be at least asking about Ohman, Thornton, Frasier Crane and Sale. Maybe even Bruney and Pena. Well, that's pushing it.
  7. Humber 1-2 with a 5.51 ERA for July. Think this long rest has really brought some life back to his pitches...the 6 man rotation might end up having saved this rotation in the end, if Peavy and Humber survive to get to October. First baserunner. Jimenez scratched from his start tonight. Something's up.
  8. Run run run on Crawford. Smart by AJ, knew that he's dealing with a very sore arm...which already sucks in the first place. Brightest guy in baseball, arguably.
  9. As long as Jimenez isn't on the Tigers, that's the one thing that would be almost impossible to overcome...and could also cause KW to trade away Viciedo. Seems like Furcal deal to STL is being held up a bit longer than expected.
  10. Pomeranz or Alex White, Chisenhall and Kipnis for Jiminez??? The Indians are insane I think. At least they're going for it. Pressure mounts on KW to make a move or he plays the hand he's dealt himself?
  11. What did the Indians have to give up? Their entire minor league system? Alex White, Chisenhall, Kipnis?
  12. Kuroda has refused to waive his full no-trade rights. Even though his contract is ending this year and the Dodgers suck. Weird. Morel earning his playing time. Pierre robbed him last night. Poor Youk.
  13. Usual problems seeing the ball for hitters and glare in the OF the first couple of innings.
  14. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 05:18 PM) And yet we show up against good teams more often than not, while slapping around the Red Sox. We have a 3B? Ramirez actually looked like he was trying for a walk there. Aced him with the 94 MPH heat.
  15. 71-29 Lester for his career. One of those losses against the ChiSox this season. Rare 3 Pierre K's in the first 10 innings of play this series.
  16. Oh, I just was briefly listening and they had him warming up...guess they didn't end up using him after all. Let's hope that awarding Humber with an official spot in the rotation for the remainder of the season injects Phil with rejuvenated confidence in his stuff.
  17. Another move making the Matt Thornton trade market less and less likely... 25%?
  18. Game over in DET, 5-1 LAA. Jesus, they use Walden in every game it seems. 2 1/2 GB, 1/2 behind CLE....Minnesota I think the closest they've been to 1st place seemingly all season long Let's make it 2-15 and 8 in a row. Do we get our own "Nation" if we sweep both Sox series this season?
  19. I'm sort of falling in love with Peter Bourjos as a defender and baserunner. He'll never have a great OPS, but he's a winning baseball player. And I'd make CF at USCF the same exact dimensions as Tiger Stadium with him patrolling out there.
  20. Is there any way to isolate the hitting with RISP just from that 26-5 streak? Versus the other 130 games? It certainly wasn't very consistent across the entire season...and certainly was missing in August/September. Can it be broken down on a monthly basis for 2010? And our on-base percentage hasn't been great either, since being 26 games over .500 at the 2006 ASB. Surely, we're in the bottom half for AL OBP on a consistent basis from July 2006 through today.
  21. If you want to give the Braves Quentin AND Thornton, you MIGHT get them to take Rios' entire contract. MIGHT. That's how abysmal it is right now. As fathom and many have suggested, just take your chances flipping him for Chone Figgins and cross your fingers. Stick Chone at 3B and bat him and Pierre back-to-back. Or bat one of them 9th, doesn't matter. Or play him in CF, either way.
  22. Poor plate discipline with RISP except for 2008. Very poor plate discipline against Minnesota (especially in the 2nd half) in nearly every important game.
  23. Interesting. Never heard that one, but facially...before the steroids, definitely a resemblance. Too bad his three sons that played baseball seriously never came close to making it to the majors. At least the Sports City and youth camps vision took off to an extent....maybe not quite as amazing as Clemente envisioned it in the early 70's, but the plane crash kept him from realizing his ultimate vision. Tiger Woods always talked about being Mother Teresa/Gandhi (well, it was more his dad pushing that on him) but it was Clemente who was the closest any athlete has ever come to being a saint off the field of play.
  24. Do they give student (with ID) and senior citizen (60+) discounts on ticketing? Curious. I used to go to a ton of KC Royals game....$7-8 for outfield reserved bleacher seats, maybe the same for parking, pretty fair prices on food/concessions. Upper deck reserved seats were bargain-priced pretty consistently, too. Basically, the same upper deck as USCF, but no fountains/outfield backdrop to rival KC. If I was feeling extra cheap, I'd just chow down at the Taco Bell across the street and spend no more than $15-16 plus gas. And you could park across I-70 and walk not so far and save the parking fee.
  25. Well, I remember when he came up with the Sox after the Baines deal, I was convinced that Sosa was the next Clemente....I even wrote to him in Spanish and asked him to change his number from 25 to 21, haha. Probably we'll never see that combination of speed, arm strength, grace, agility, wrist strength, batting style and off-field humanitarianism. Vladimir Guerrero was the closest (that I've seen personally), but nowhere need the speed or joy/reckless abandon that Clemente displayed with the Pirates.
