  1. That was a "fat" pitch to hit if ever there was one. Gavin always seems to have those lapses in concentration, no matter what his stuff is that particular day.
  2. We should be content with our new 3 run crooked numbers, the days of 2001-2008 offense, gone are they. Alex Rios with an 11 game hitting streak, must be nice when four of them have come against your former team.
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 9, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) You just said the kid was going to ground into a double play. Make up your mind. My idea, with how this season has gone, is that Nix would inevitably hit into a DP. Actually, I like the kid and hate Teahen so I'll henceforth join your Nixie fanclub, how do I sign up? Do you have a blog or dedicated website? Can I get a FREE t-shirt, if that's the case, I really am interested. Count me in! T-FLOW with his 5th homer of the season....look out below AJ.
  4. Okay...well, thank God Bautista didn't go home with Castro running. Inexplicable.
  5. Now has base knocks in 2 consecutive games with RISP after going 1 for the season.... C'mon Beckham, NO GIDP. A strikeout would be much better.
  6. I really think Nix should be the everyday platoon 3B against LHP. Teahen, take a rest, ride the pine...I don't really care. Pierre bunt attempt again?
  7. Of course, Alexei. LOL. Greg Walker should be promoted to Commander, Department of Homeland Security. Setting up the Nix GIDP. Just watch...or he will K, then Pierre will ground out weakly. But I'll be optimistic and hope for the GS.
  8. What are the odds we score both of these runs from 2nd and 3rd with no outs? 20-25%?
  9. Jordan Danks with a walk and now 7 stolen bases. Boy Scout Lillibridge with 14. (I know, I know, this should be in the minor league thread....but it's too depressing to make comments on the "major league" offense). Brandon Short struck out in his first attempt to extend the hit streak to 27.
  10. I blame this early season struggle on Donny Lucy, who, by the way, is now 4/8 in Charlotte. And even Brent Lillibridge (14 steals, mid 600's OPS) seems a better option at leadoff than Juan Pierre, sad to say. Thought of the Day: I wonder when MLB auctions off the White Sox pink bats, how many of our players won't get any bids? Great defense, as usual, from Carlos...at least Beckham backed him up and kept Bautista from getting to 3rd.
  11. Rios with a really bad read on that ball. One of his few misplays of the season. The time has come to seriously think about Gordon going to Charlotte, I'm afraid. Just think it might be the best thing for him in the long-term. Not sure he can get his confidence back at the big league level...although I am sure Ozzie/KW will give him the benefit of the doubt, 2 more weeks at least.
  12. I don't think Ozzie EVER has gone on record as saying, "No, we really don't need or even want Johnny Damon, we're fine with TMK getting 350 at-bats...and, actually, come to think of it, I agree with my man Kenny, I think the Damon signing just puts the Tigers in a better position to compete with us."
  13. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/ar...b&fext=.jsp Story on Bee-Short.
  14. FWIW, we've done a great job of controlling Hill and Lind this series. Another weak GO on the infield. Thanks for the surprise, Juancito.
  15. Great start for Floyd, 2 K's to pick up where Peavy left off. If he can get that curve over, he's always going to be dangerous out there.
  16. Sergio Santos' wife is a cutie, too.
  17. QUOTE (docsox24 @ May 9, 2010 -> 11:00 AM) why on earth would you want two more washed up guys? the red sox would gladly give up those bums Therein lies the problem... What team will give up guys who are not washed up, declining, injured....unless they are forced to by financial circumstances, like the Tigers with Granderson and Edwin Jackson? Since Ozzie loves veterans, you might as well go down with the ship playing all veterans, right? Actually, forget about Peavy. Let's just say that the White Sox could work out some mutually beneficial deal to send some B prospects to the Red Sox and they (the Carmines) would pay similar salary amounts to what the Dodgers did with subsidizing Pierre and Jones? I think it would be worth it, if we could get away with spending only $4-6 million for half season rentals of those two to inject some life into the offense. That saves face for Esptein, the Boston fans and for the respected veterans, it's a win-win IMO. There's no way Andruw Jones can continue to play this well, nor will Konerko. Rios, you expect to settle in between 775 and 850 OPS, yes? If I could get away with trading, let's say, Shelby III/Santeliz/Nathan Jones (they'll definitely want at least ONE high upside guy) and would only have to pay Lowell and Ortiz $4-6 million for the remainder of the season, I'd seriously consider it. If nothing else, it would help to increase attendance and interest in the Sox, like the Peavy/Rios deals and the Buehrle no-hitter last year.
  18. The wish of Teahen and Vizquel on the bench has been granted. We'll see how it works out. Romero trifled with us last time. Eveland has gotten us twice already, so let's hope we can solve Romero and get the split and take some momentum into Minnesota.
  19. I actually think if Lowell (3B) and Ortiz (DH) could put up their historic numbers, we could get back into it with those two in the line-up. It would certainly make me feel a lot more excited about the team. Never, ever going to happen, however. Rather than just Peavy 1/5 days. Of course, they won't be able to put up those numbers, undeniably they're close to done. And Peavy would be more valuable, if we did trade him...for whatever reason....we'd get back young players and minor league prospects, not veterans.
  20. What if it was Garland, Richard, Poreda, Carter, Russell and A-Gone for Peavy and Ramirez OR Quentin?
  21. "We were peeved we had CR/AP, but now we have (THE REAL F'in) Peavy."
  22. No to a team in Indiana, Louisville or Buffalo... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Amd3...i-yankees050810 Are the Yankees getting too old, too fast?
  23. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ May 9, 2010 -> 06:24 AM) lol no, the funny thing about the futility with the bases loaded is that the Twins are amongst the top team (batting average wise) when runners are in scoring position...batting something like .275 Which do you think was the best Twins' team (since 87/91) and why?? 2002-2004, 2006 or 2009? Do Twins' fans feel that they currently have the Top 3 starters to go out and win a playoff series? (Liriano/Baker/Blackburn.....with Slowey and Pavano battling for the fourth spot or being skipped) What would the Twins be willing to give up to acquire Scott Linebrink, Bobby Jenks or JJ Putz? Would you take Mark Teahen if we just gave him to you for FREE and you had to assume his 3 year contract obligation?
  24. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6522211.story Ozzie hasn't jumped off the cliff quite yet.
  25. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ May 9, 2010 -> 05:51 AM) The BoSox?? WHo would you ask for if it was even concievable? Problem is I think Jake has a limited NTC. David Ortiz and Mike Lowell. And Boston would be picking up 85% of the salaries for those two guys.
