  1. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 12:11 AM) they hate sweeney. it's because he makes $11 million and has been consistently injured for much of the last 3 years...almost to the point where many thought he might retire that's a big chunk of their payroll, along with Meche...those two players make up around 35% of the team in those two "baskets"
  2. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 12:08 AM) He's a good looking pitcher. One of rare future studs KC has as far as pitching. Not sure how I feel about Jenks coming in for the bottom of the 9th in a tie game with the Tigers' series looming and Danks pitching tomorrow, which means we'll definitely use Masset, Aardsma, Sisco and much of the pen again. And what the heck is wrong with Thornton?
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 25, 2007 -> 12:05 AM) Wow, nice pitch....bad AB. Let's get a run, and end this game. Don't mind working around Grudz, even though it was dangerous to put a run on second base. That slurve was pretty nasty tonight. I still don't think a reliever for the White Sox has gotten two consecutive hitters out in this game. Pretty pathetic, but it will be a lot easier to stomach if we can win this game, but Soria has been nasty and the Royals' best pitcher so far this season.
  4. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 11:54 PM) well, this should be interesting On the plus side, MacDougal got a pitch up to 97 MPH tonight, lol.
  5. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 11:51 PM) Lovely, walk their #9 hitter so we can face DeJesus. Sisco or Logan?
  6. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 11:47 PM) Because Ozzie sucks. Lol, not sure if I really meant that, just thought it would be fun to say Quote of the night from Paul Splittorff. BA looks like "a right-handed version of Kirk Gibson."
  7. QUOTE(beautox @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 11:22 PM) sweet. 6 blown saves, we're now tied for the worst in MLB
  8. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:48 PM) Erstad can't hit a ball that hard. He did last night to tie the game. Ozzie's confidence in Erstad is starting to pay dividends. And we're doing all of this without Pods in the line-up.
  9. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) oh yea, i'd take that. wonder what they would want for Rowand. Anderson and who else? Heath Phillips or Haeger? LOL. Maybe we could throw in Lopez, Rogowski and Angel Gonzalez while we're at it.
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) I still have my eye on Baldelli. Too many OFers for that team. I wanted Dukes until you and Cheat informed me about his problems not only off the field, but with his teammates. In fact, I wouldn't be totally averse to sending Dye to a west coast team for a pitching 'spect and then sending that 'spect and some of our lesser arms to Tampa for Rocco. They could probably send Dye to the Angels for Saunders and Willits/Aybar and then flip Saunders to the D-Rays with someone to get Baldelli.... Another idea would be to get Kotchmann, McPherson or Morales on the cheap, and put Fields in LF.
  11. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) We'd have to get a major 'good vibe hometown' discount for Dye to be back here next year. Maybe they can start playing the classic Bond theme "Live or Let Die" more often at games when the other team's bullpen is in trouble and JD is up at bat...Jane Seymour was hot back then.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:33 PM) I'd like to see us center a package around McCulloch. What would that get us? Not much.
  13. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:30 PM) KW is probably frothing at the mouth to bring something in from Philly right now. They could reunite the stooges. If Rowand comes back, it's because KW thinks playing him everyday is better than a platoon of Mack and Ozuna in LF. Don't see it happening.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:29 PM) Good manufacture job Battle of the bullpens starting in the 5th or 6th should go to the White Sox, at least you'd think so... Positive sign the White Sox are not getting buried by those 3-4 run leads and have gotten back into almost every game this season. Vazquez has also "grinded" it out as well, despite not having his best stuff.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:28 PM) Exactly, and has everything to do with starting his approach too soon. That much movement before the pitch, in addition to limited playing time, makes timing/vision impossible. It's not unlike Borchard.
  16. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) he's not that good at baseball Unlike Konerko, who ties the game. Paulie now 6/8 getting runner in from 3rd with less than 2 outs. Unfortunately, that run Sunday afternoon (DP ball) really hurt us, but at least Konerko's come back to life these last two games.
  17. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:23 PM) Holy crap, an XBH for Erstad. Erstad is like Punto, Bartlett, Tyner or Castillo....they grow on you over the course of a season. Get 'em on, get em over and get em in. Worked in the first inning to perfection...Iguchi's really done a great job hitting to the right side to advance Darin.
  18. QUOTE(Wanne @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) I would have put that in green if I knew how. Forgive me...I'm a mac user. I think there would have been 30 posts in under a minute if that ball got over BA's head. I know the grass is wet, but the ground was very dry here in KC... EDIT: Erstad lifting and pulling into the RF corner. Better than the 4-3 grindout.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) He looked great against King Felix in 2005. However, I've always wondered how he's ever hit at any level. He has an atrocious swing. Time for Javy to let KC stretch out their lead again. This might be the worst fastball he's had in his Sox career. He's thrown some at 92-93. I think it's more a matter of location...he's already thrown 67 pitches, he's obviously struggling out there, but at least he kept the runner at 2nd that pitch. DON'T LET UP AGAINST DEJESUS. Get out of this inning and let's get the lead back.
  20. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) What the hell is Anderson's approach? To take the same exact approach to the same exact pitch two times in a row and react like it's Jason Bere's "fosch" or Dice-K's "gyroball." Good God, Brian taketh and giveth away.
  21. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) Sweet! Double. 4-3 KC QUESTION....why does Buddy Bell not pitch around Uribe to get to Anderson?
  22. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) OHHHhhh yes Please intentionally walk Grudzielanek. Although that would bring up another White Sox killer from last year, Teahen.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) Lack of ability Or lack of a compact swing.
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) Sisco will never be a starter. He'd need 100 pitches to get thru 4 innings. I wish we could get him in the minors right now working as a closer. Well, he at least has the ability to be one...the Royals took a flier on Jorge De La Rosa, were patient with him, and he's starting to look like a serviceable starter. By the way, White Sox not exactly looking like they would care to share 1st place with CLE after tonight.
  25. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) Mackowiak didn't always start for a Pirates team that had less talent than this Royals team. It's too bad wind is blowing in. If not, I'd expect 3 or 4 homers by Sox tonight. Gload is worse than Pods in LF or Mack in CF!!! Didn't anyone see the first inning? Thanks for the grand salami against Ray and Orioles last year Ross, but a lefty who throws 95 MPH and might have a future as a starter has a lot more value than a utility 1B/DH/LF. ONCE again, Anderson blown away with the huge swing against a guy throwing 89-91 MPH.
