Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record

Or the Fukushima cleanup/containment ongoing nearly a decade later. Chernobyl still the closer parallel though. Soviet bureaucrats replaced by the usual front office favorites. -
Obviously the 2022-23 Vargas....you simply don't become a Top 70ish prospect without some scouting positives on your side. Past tense. See Oscar Colas as well.

Reinsdorf releases statement to say he'll speak more later

Except Moreno is the one who okayed the Rendon worst contract in baseball. Drury is right there with a sub 500 ops. Adell never developed...and lots of pitching setbacks as well other than Tyler Anderson. Minasian has to try to trade Trout when he has only been healthy for roughly 1 1/2 of the past 4 seasons. -

Last year we supposedly got rid of all the team "cancers" except for Moncada and Robert...Jimenez now out as well. So what's the excuse this time? Getz is going to deservedly face more arrows headed his way as he runs out of excuses and justifications for the lack of positional talent. -
The two arguments there are the injury issue with the Twins' kid and the undermanned Sox scouting department overvaluing Vargas based on past versus current year reports on his offense and defense. Or one can argue that Getz simply wouldn't trade with divisional rival without an overpay of a Top 3/current Top 50 MiLB prospect guy in their system. That clearly went awry...and the bloom is off the Brooks Lee rose a bit, but still 100x a better prospect at this moment in time than Vargas, who looks more like DAngelo Jimenez for the time being.

Why? Why? Why?

Asking for those three guys was always going to be a no go. Twins excel at finding bargain veteran pitching.

https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/mariners/how-mariners-andres-munoz-and-clevelands-emmanuel-clase-became-baseball-brothers/ Well, at least half Central-related, with Clase. One of the reasons that Preller might get fired (if he misses out on the Wild Card) is these two relievers are better than Suarez (certainly in recent days), but Clase is pretty much unarguably the best closer in baseball today.

Have a feeling the White Sox losing three in a row to San Diego (or knocking them out of the WC race, conversely) is going to be a huge story with how hot the Mets are right now (went from being no-hit to a late innings 6 run rally in the 8th/9th) and how close those four WC teams are likely to be in another week... There's pretty much no avoiding it. The rest of their games aren't going to have any bearing on the post season from here on out. There's just going to be NO AVOIDING the national media crush over this issue, or issuing some kind of public statement. -

That's rich, the only thing to save the team is a new stadium, which at best would inject life into the franchise for 2-3 years unless they dramatically have improved their on-field product. Pretty similar between the 4-5 year boost in season ticket sales from winning a World Series AND the comparative boost from opening a new stadium. -

Well, even if Robert and Crochet managed to outperform (assuming they're not traded prior to the season), it's still going to require the front office to execute great trades. Evidence of the ability to do that so far is scant, at best. You're looking at Cannon, Martin, maybe Thorpe, cheap veteran ala Flexen...mystery name as your rotation. And the bullpen? Where are they going to get/see improvements defensively? Robert was/is their sole Gold Glove-caliber player...Lopez will HOPEFULLY be gone, those are your two "plus" guys defensively, along with MAYBE Fletcher if he can repeat his unprecedented defensive metrics in RF (and NOT CF to replace Robert). -

Now we've adopted another recent president's maxim that any and all publicity is somehow good/positive...also trying hard to imagine JR as JK burying all the mistress mob and Vegas stories. Nobody will cover for Reinsdorf any longer. -

Looking forward to chopping another 300-400,000 off in attendance. Seriously they're going to have to start embracing the historical ineptitude and promoting it as a feature and NOT a bug. -

Of the bottom 6 in terms of decreases, 3 are legit playoff possibilities. Braves and Astros fans have been spoiled for so long...pretty challenging not to get complacent with success. Mets threatening to be the craziest "accidentally competing" story of the entire season, along with all the teams in the White Sox' division, almost. -
Especially when Ramos, Baldwin, Jacob Gonzalez and Montgomery are supposed to be the future...but are either hurt or very much NOT ready quite yet. Can pretty much cross Sosa off the list at this point, right?
-
What are they at now, 16 or 17 shutouts total on the season? Pace really slowed from the first couple of months...

Will the Sox prioritize Moncada over youngsters?

Or at least can't stay healthy enough to put up 25 because of missed time. He did it at least once, right? Or very close. But still a net negative fWAR I'm pretty sure, or very close to 0.0 if not neg. -

But he'd already established himself that year in the big leagues and was considered basically impossible for them to trade...post-season success, too. 2016 Baseball America MLB Boston Red Sox 15 2016 Baseball America Team Boston Red Sox 3 2016 MLB Pipeline MLB Boston Red Sox 25 2016 MLB Pipeline Team Boston Red Sox 3 2017 Baseball America Team Boston Red Sox 1 2017 Baseball America MLB Boston Red Sox 1 2017 MLB Pipeline Team Boston Red Sox 1 2017 MLB Pipeline MLB Boston Red Sox 1 8 record(s) It was far from a consensus on Benintendi. But sure, 2017. One thing that is 100% sure is that Devers OR Moncada were the only trade possibilities for the Sox, not AB. -
7-9 for the record...6-10 would be great, because it would mean a number in the 30's. 39-123 just looks much worse than 40-122.

7-10 for 40-122 Get to play spoiler (or doormat) against SDP before they face both AZ and LAD down the stretch.

2/22 Sounds about right. 10 k's. Missed all the perfect game drama coming in late.
