  1. Don't forget Southside Hit Men as well...
  2. Can we somehow make Narvaez or McCann victories by Chris Getz, lol?
  3. Reminiscent of the days when WSI would ban/exile almost anyone with a negative viewpoint and quickly assign labels like "Dark Cloud" to more pessimistic posters...obviously, nobody is forced/coerced to respond in any way. CALI might be the only one this year who really sticks out as attempting to be more positive in the face of the tsunami of criticism, but I think even he might have temporarily surrendered.
  4. [Fegan] Chris Getz said the influx of ex-Royals is more about relationships with individuals. “[Moustakas] wants to prove that he can still go out there and be a productive Major league player, knowing that he has that baked into his mindset right now, I felt like this was a good idea.” Just a refresher on the fascination with all things KC...
  5. https://m.facebook.com/WhiteSox/photos/chicago-white-sox-professional-scouts-john-tumminia-and-daraka-shaheed-join-form/10151343431058298/ https://www.recordonline.com/obituaries/pnys0370579 https://www.mlb.com/news/white-sox-scout-john-tumminia-sets-up-clinics-c211884800 John Tumminia was one of the most experienced scouts and passed away in 2022. (99% sure his daughter married Ben Cherington, as well.) He partnered with Shaheed (fired today) to do all kinds of charity baseball camps in the US and across the world, such as Africa and Central America...
  6. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/767953/2019/01/15/how-white-sox-scouts-determined-eloy-jimenez-would-be-their-next-big-star/ Someone said that's basically half their pro scouting department.
  7. We could always send someone down to the Dominican to write a first-person report about this academy that's suddenly supposed to fix everything nearing fifteen years after Wilder...but now with a Cuban Connection reliance that has completely left the building. And still almost zero presence in Asia.
  8. During his tenure in Chicago, Paddy has signed four Top 15 international prospects which includes outfielder Micker Adolfo (No.2) in 2013, outfielder Yoelqui Céspedes (No. 1) and right-handed pitcher Norge Vera (No.15) in 2021 and outfielder Oscar Colás (No. 5) in 2022. Colás is currently rated by MLB.com as the No. 95 prospect in all of baseball. (this didn't age well) Paddy, a native of Panama, also was involved in the signings of first baseman José Abreu in 2013 and center fielder Luis Robert in 2017. Abreu was named the American League Rookie of the Year in 2014 and Most Valuable Player in 2020. Robert earned a Gold Glove Award following his rookie season in 2020. Prior to joining the White Sox, Paddy served as the director of Latin American operations with Toronto from 2007-11. He spent 14 seasons in Atlanta’s organization as an area scout (1993-2002), assistant director of player development (2002-03) and director of Latin American operations (2004-06). mlb.com
  9. Sheets has already locked up DH next year, or Julks? Yikes if that's the case.
  10. Did the same favor to Grand all last year...like a tryout period for rest of MLB to see what he has left.
  11. https://www.mlb.com/padres/video/fernando-tatis-jr-singles-on-a-ground-ball-to-left-fielder-riley-greene-j
  12. Too early to say, but early indications are headed in the direction of yet another bust since such a long run of them now ongoing. Look at Tatis' brother's stat line for example. Elijah. Youngest brother Daniel 17-18 years old now.
  13. in terms of playing time at 3B 2B 1B or DH? WHY? To avoid the losses record? "White Sox: 3B Yoan Moncada The switch-hitting third baseman still has to return healthy to the White Sox to prove anything after being out since April 9 with a left adductor strain and putting together only 44 plate appearances in 11 big-league games this season. But Moncada has 15 at-bats over five games during a current injury rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte, including a home run Tuesday, with 21 White Sox games remaining. At 29, Moncada still has an abundance of talent but has not been able to stay healthy consistently during his time in Chicago. The White Sox almost certainly will use their $5 million buyout instead of picking up his $25 million club option for ‘25, so Moncada will be playing for his future while suiting up for the White Sox in the present. -- Scott Merkin" mlb.com
  14. However...he put all the systems in place for the optimal development on those player, yes? There's no reason to be optimistic UNTIL we see more non KC related hiring and dollars flowing into the future rather than veteran retreads and placeholders.
  15. At least Mason Moore is a cool name?
  16. At least KW has/had a legitimate, consistently competitive track record over the course of 13 years. Which is a lot more than can be said about Hahn or Getz.
  17. Kelenic can certainly play there...but his defensive metrics have always suggested it's a stretch to call him an everyday CFer.
  18. 1. She felt she had been made a scapegoat for her boss's incompetence. 2. He has been made a scapegoat for the company's failures.
  19. Is Nick Hostetler still employed by the White Sox? How?
  20. Everyone probably could have made better first round draft picks than Vaughn and Madrigal, too. Translation: "I signed in the Dominican Republic with the White Sox. First, I am eternally grateful to the White Sox for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the organization. [José] Contreras helped me a lot [in my decision], as did the other Cuban players who came through the organization before, including Minnie [Miñoso], Orlando Hernandez [“El Duque”], and many others." Soxon35th.com It is kind of ironic that Hahn and Paddy were the only Sox execs in the last decade to win national recognition in the executive/scouting field. Has Getz ever won anything related to his post playing career?
  21. Alexei Ramirez, Jose Abreu, Luis Robert and Fernando Tatis have had about as much success as any scout's profile. Carlos/Yolmer Sanchez was solid. Eduardo Escobar. Then you factor in we were in on both Soto and Guerrero Jr. but didn't have the open purse strings from JR to close those two deals. When has Getz identified a stud hitter, exactly? Montgomery was supposed to be the One.
  22. 1st 2nd 3rd eight times from 2004-20015. Chop off Ventura's 2013-2015 sleep walk and things look much better. 2000-2004 was by and large fine too except for the 2001 letdown aka massive disappointment. Then 2016 following the Semien trade was the real false hope disaster of a gut punch. Following Adam Dunn's 2011. If only we had never heard of Samardzija or Swisher around here.
