So I got summoned to appear downtown tomorrow to sign up for a week to do jury duty. I'm 21, just voted for the 1st time in November, and already got a summons? How unlucky is that? At least I'm a student out of town, so I'm pretty certain they'll let me out of it. But, a pain nonetheless to have to go downtown for a couple hours just to tell them I can't do it.

I went with the movie thread b/c some movies were mentioned that I haven't thought of in awhile, and it gave me the idea to try to watch them soon. Oh, and Tex really does come up with some great threads/polls, doesn't he?

Any idea why Flowers hasn't been playing?

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:38 PM) He sure does, it's more of a contact issue with him. He has light tower power, it's just a matter of him being more selective and not being so aggressive and swinging at everything. Not that this has anything to do with anything, but... That sentence makes me think of Joe Borchard. Any time I see the phrase "Light Tower Power," I immediately think of Borch b/c that's one of the big reasons he was so hyped coming out of Stanford. -
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:55 PM) Ugh...season ticket holder batting practice got postponed due to wet grounds at Regions. I have to wait another month to crack some dingers. I know it has nothing to do with today's games, just thought I'd share. That's really cool that they let season ticket holders do that. You'll have to share how it goes whenever it's rescheduled.

Morel is just on a tear. His BA is over .280 now. Oh damn, Kloess gets a 4 inning Save at Great Falls. Don't see that often.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 04:57 PM) You could say that you were "psyched" to see it coming back on, eh dasox? Haha, very nice... I guess you could say that.

Fantastic! I'll be able to watch tomorrow's game since I'm off work, but Friday's I'll have to Tivo.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 04:35 PM) I believe Tyler is another one of KW's kids. Yep, and he won't be signing. If we sign Morgado and one of Jones/Williams/Goodwin, I'd be extremely happy calling it quits after that. Any more would just be fantastic, though highly unlikely.

QUOTE (juddling @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 04:34 PM) i don't remember which thread had the mention of a Saved by the Bell reunion but if it happens i think you'll have to do without Kelly Kapowski.....she's just too damn busy!!!!! She still looks pretty good in a bikini. And even though the video is a joke, I hope she's not truly against reuniting. I want a reunion! Also, this is pretty old, but funny nonetheless. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) Colon is supposedly going to the DL. Working on a story right now Is it sad that I was happy to see this b/c it means Richard will stay in the rotation? I kind of feel bad now that I'm happy one of our own players is hurt. Though, if Dewayne Wise got injured, I wouldn't feel bad at all.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 01:25 PM) It was...it was just an example. People tend to call things "cookie jars" and when you stick your hand in the jar, you're looking for a cookie -- that cookie can be anything, money, sweets, whatever. I think you can put 2 and 2 together here and see what I meant. I understood what you were getting at.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 10:54 AM) Where in Texas? Bring your fan. It's been hot, when it's not been raining. Houston. I haven't been there yet since they both moved last November, so I'm looking forward to seeing their new place.

Spend the day at a pool... I work 6 days a week, and usually my off day is spent playing golf or doing nothing b/c I just want to relax. On a bigger scale, visit my sister and brother in Texas. I'm going down next week for 6 days before going back to Knoxville. Should be a nice little vacation.

Markeith Ambles, Rivals' 7th ranked WR, chose UT over Florida today. Great get for the Vols! Now we just need a QB. -
QUOTE (onedude @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) Psych Season 4 stars August 7th. This Season looks like a hit...not a miss. Three, One, then Two is how I'd rate the seasons so far. Pretty excited. I just started watching Psych at the beginning of Season 3, so I bought Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD, and am 5 episodes in to Season 2 so far. Almost completely caught up.

Just over 38 days 'til kickoff... Also, after watching old game film, Monte Kiffin told Lane last week that he doesn't see how there's any way Berry shouldn't be the #1 pick in the Draft next year. He's that good. Now, I know he might be a little biased, but it's not like he's a long-time Tennessee guy, so he didn't have to say that. Monte knows the NFL, and while he might be exaggerating a bit (b/c DB's never go #1 overall), he should be a Top 5 pick. I know many of you who don't follow the SEC don't know much about him (thanks to UT sucking last year), but go watch his highlights on Youtube and you'll be impressed. Hell, look at what he did to Knowshon Moreno in my signature picture. And that's just another play in the game for Berry. Taylor Who? -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 10:19 PM) link Haha, I love Shaq. I really wish the Bulls would have tried to get him. Would have been perfect for 1 year, and then we'd have enough money to make a big signing and a good signing. -
That's a great gift. I'd be stoked, as I love Crown Royal and the personalized box/bag would be cool.

QUOTE (DePloderer @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) Can anyone tell me why they have cancelled Life and The Unit? We loved those programs over here. I don't know, but I really liked The Unit and was mad to hear it was getting canceled. Though apparently, they're trying to see if another network will pick it up, but I doubt it happens.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) The Blind Side By Michael Lewis. Can't wait to see how Michael Oher does in the NFL. I bought that book, but haven't read it yet. I plan on getting it done sometime before the movie comes out. But, I still have The GM to finish (in terms of sports books). That's a pretty good one too. It's about Ernie Accorsi's time making his way through the NFL ranks until his last season as the GM of the Giants.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 05:19 PM) Eagles Defensive Coordinator Jim Johnson passes away at the age of 66. Sad. We lose one of the best defensive coordinators maybe ever. Oh wow, that's really sad. I always liked Johnson a ton as a DC, and was always jealous of how aggressive the Eagles were when the Bears still had Greg "sacks are overrated" Blache running the show. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:25 PM) How much cap space does Chicago have? Can they find a backup QB and DB in veteran waivers after the preseason? One great thing about JA and the Bears' front office is that they are always in great position with cap space. They currently are about $17M below the cap. -
Very good stuff right there. I didn't realize he was from Cincy, so I decided to do some digging to see what high school he went to. And to no surprise, he went to Moeller, which has produced greats like Ken Griffey Jr and Barry Larkin. One of my buddies from my freshman year of college (he's no longer in school) played baseball at Moeller, so I guess they played together, though Remenowsky is older.

QUOTE (HoosierSox @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 10:46 PM) I hate that we keep throwing out these old washed up retreads like Colon and possibly Garcia in the future. Richard to me looks like he could be a solid #3 starter in this league and he is just begun to pitch well. I will be pissed off if I see Colon starting over Richard next time out. Well, it sure looks like it's going to happen, though I'm not happy with the decision either... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,6832981.story
