  1. Unfortunately, I really can't tell you any more about Morgado than you can probably find in a scouting report or gather for yourself since I don't know the guy personally or anything. He looked pretty promising as a redshirt freshman for us in '08 when he was our Saturday starter. Everyone thought that he was just gonna tear it up this year considering he had a year of experience under his belt and his really good stuff. Unfortunately, he underperformed and got moved to the 'pen. But, our whole team underperformed so I'm not sure it's not coaching that has caused problems for us. I mean, literally, almost every single player underachieved for Tennessee this year (particularly the pitching staff - e.g. Nick Hernandez, Morgado). Look at Kentrail Davis too. He was a Comp A round pick after his numbers went down in almost every category. I think that shows he has a ton of talent, but we didn't have the coaching to develop/harness it. Anyway, when Morgado is on, he can just flat out overpower hitters, and that's evidenced by his 75 Ks in 52.1 IP. I really see this like a Daniel Hudson pick from last year where the guy has great stuff but bad numbers following a good year. I love the pick. Oh, and from what I've been told, his mechanics are a bit screwy. Sounds like the perfect project for the other Sox minor league instructors and then Perdew when he hits that level.
  2. Dang, Twins took Tootle. I think that's a good pick for them. Would have liked him a lot for us.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:42 PM) Underwhelming pick, as he has a pretty pedestrian fastball. I immediately think of Justin Edwards when I think of this pick. Florida prep pitcher without overpowering stuff. Let's hope this one works out a bit better. There goes Walla, Jason. I'm sure you're a bit disappointed.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:33 PM) He's white? Could be light-skinned...
  5. Never heard of this kid, but I like it anyway. HS CF that's 6'4'' 200 lbs. Looks like he has a chance to fill out and be a power hitter.
  6. "The White Sox are on the clock... ...And I'm a native of Rhode Island."
  7. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:17 PM) its pretty cool to see the former players announce their teams picks.... Agree completely. Nice little touch they added. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:17 PM) Pads get two great athletes. They've had 2 great picks so far. If they can sign both of them, that's gonna be a lot of talent coming up through the minors in the OF.
  8. Another fantastic pick by the Rangers getting Scheppers. That's two guys who fell that they were able to snag. Gonna have to shell out a good bit of bonus money, though.
  9. There's the catcher I said I wanted, though he wasn't my first choice. Fantastic bat at least... So Phegley calls his own game? That's pretty impressive. Makes me feel a lot better about him being able to stay behind the plate. I am definitely happy with this pick. I know some people were hoping to take a chance on a guy since we went slot with our 1st round pick, but look for the Sox to do that with a pick they don't have to worry about losing. If you take a guy with the comp pick and he doesn't sign, you lose that early pick. But, if you take a guy in the 4th/5th round and he doesn't sign, much less of a loss.
  10. We're on the clock... We'll know in about 1 minute
  11. I really want to nab one of the catchers that's falling at some point in the next 3 picks. Hopefully a catcher soon, and then Luke Bailey in like the 4th or 5th and give him a big signing bonus.
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) I thought you were just agreeing with me my midnight friend. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...1389&st=225 Oh, I do love you... But that wasn't my post you were referring to. Soxfan101 wrote what you quoted. That's why I was a bit confused, lol.
  13. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) well how the hell do you kill crabs???? I usually go to the store and buy a medicated shampoo... Oh, wait...
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 07:13 PM) That's cause you love me dasox. Wait, what? I love Bailey, though, myself. I said weeks ago that I hope we take a chance on him and still do. There's a reason this guy was supposed to be the #1 C in the draft and a top 15 pick before getting TJ surgery. I'd rather let him rehab in our system and be ready to play starting next April.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) At least we can watch him in the College World Series. This is true. I'll be looking forward to watching him on TV. I always do like it when we take guys still playing in the CWS b/c I get to see them play rather than read scouting reports.
  16. f***!!! Edit: Oh well, I'll have to like the kid now. His potential is great, but I really wanted Brothers.
  17. This sucks for you Mizzou guys. Your boys are going to our rivals.
  18. I'm going to be severely disappointed if we pass up on one of the big pitchers left to take someone like Mitchell/Everett Williams. I feel pretty confident we'll take a pitcher, though, knowing KW.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) An outfielder and a pitcher will go off the board in the next two picks to the DBacks, but they also like Borchering. There you go.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) No. Ok, it's something I'd get if I were 2000 miles closer to the cell. Got it.
  21. Great selection by the Rangers, and now as already mentioned, the Indians will probably take White.
  22. I don't get why people keep mentioning whether or not Crow will sign. I don't know the guy or much regarding his situation, but after you already don't sign once, you don't do it again. Unless, of course, you want to be like Matt Harrington, who is now a mechanic making little money when he had an opportunity to sign for millions. Unless Crow is a complete dumbass, he'll sign for a fair amount.
